I got in to the pre-open slot. Its open beta soon. I kinda like the game. Smashing foes into walls impaling them on my thrown spears. Smacking them in the gob with a heavy piece of masonry.

Im curious whether it would be worth playing. My past experience with Mabinogi didnt end well.. (long story involving one character slot an item shop and eventually a useless character) Also I am leery about next gen mmos due to several failures so far.

Id say the game play is bit closer to Dynasty Warrior style game play but with much more linear levels.

Yay my second character is a veteran...and you have to use tokens to get any area that is not the first area. -_- not cool Nexon.

Yeah...turns out I'm on the east server...
The token system doesn't bother me that much, though. I can do roughly 6-7 dungeons a day with it, and that's probably more than I'll do. Besides, PVP is still free, and you can get tokens by doing PVP as well.

I'll probably give it a shot once I get internet in my apartment. As is though I'd feel too weird playing MMO's in the engineering atrium.
Hmm, I'm torn between "This looks awesome!" and "I'll miss the Moe Moe and being able to run it on my laptop".
Although with the action focus, have they done anything about the lag problems? I found combat in Mabinogi frustrating because it was like a game of Rock–Paper–Scissors, but with lag.
Oh and if you lost, then you'd lose your most expensive item and have to pay way more money than you had to retrieve it. FFFFFUUUUUU!

No not like that currently. Your equipment can get damaged and need repairs though.
Lag is hit and miss right now it depends on whether you do a solo run or have other people. It seems the worse the collective groups connection is the worse the connection is for everyone.

Although if it's more combat focused, it's kinda lost the main reason I was interested in Mabinogi in the first place - an MMO that was more about "gathering" than "hunting".

I feel like this is mostly Mabinogi In Name Only. It has the same skill system, and it retains some crafting skills, but it's closer to Dynasty Warriors than anything else.

Meh gathering gets boring after a while. I play minecraft to gather and craft.
The game is fun though. I played a character yesterday all the way up to level 13 from level 1. Not hard to do.

I'm finding it less like playing Dynasty Warriors and more like being given a Olde European Wreckingball and being let loose, while occasionally being told to hit some guy's minivan before going back to mindlessly breaking crap.
