Yeah I noticed that a while ago too.

Personally, I think both could use new pictures. The Image isn't really a Circus and it also really isn't a Playground either. I think we can definitely do better

How about something like this for Abandoned Playground [1] (Some resizing required) and for Circus of Fear: [2]? Just some suggestions.

This feels like a good one for Circus of Fear if you crop it sort of in half.

Here's some more: overgrown with trees

swing and slide in tall grass

slide and rotting merry-go-round

overgrown climbing bars

The Abandoned Playground image really looks it; I don't think it needs changing. It's the Circus of Fear one that should be changed. I'd suggest using an image from the Sega Genesis version of Batman Returns.

EDIT: More specific candidates shown a few posts below.

^^^^That just looks like a regular Cicus Troupe, and doesn't really look all that "fearsome".

That video is almost 10 minutes long. Which part of it do you suggest? at least narrow it down to shorter sections, please.

Changed the interval of the video it links to. There is probably a good candidate for a page image somewhere between that time position and the end of the video. @ Mattonymy / Madrugada

Fair enough, I came up with a few candidates I was planning on suggesting anyway.

The perfect setting for a Monster Clown.

Dark, hard to make out, not clearly a circus. Not a clear example of the trope. Nothing fearful about it.

I could try brightening the images... though I don't think the 3rd one is all that dark or hard to make out... I thought it clearly showed the bright colours associated with a circus along with a Monster Clown... what do others think?

At the very least it's more connected to the trope than the current one.

The first two aren't even clear that they're circuses. The last one is barely an example because of the tent, but as shimaspawn it's not that noticeable.

That thing is supposed to be a clown?

[up][up][up] From the images up there it doesn't seem even tangentially related to the trope at hand.

It's actually a series of train cars, with the "red triangle circus" (I'm guessing they're called that, because that's the name of the level) performing on the roofs of the train cars. Or something like that.

Here's a few more tries:

Based on the Batman villain naming pattern, would this one be called the juggler?

A clown so creepy that even Batman looks frightened.

I guess these performers have no qualms with using the fire-breathing trick ON someone.

Guess what she'll do with the sword next! Hint: She isn't about to put it away.

Yeah yeah, the last one uses the same concept as the first one from my earlier post, but I'd like to think that particular train car looks a bit more circus-y...

Similar thing with the 2nd one, except that Batman looks like he's cowering at the Monster Clown. (He isn't, but that's beside the point.)

Pism, all of those pics are incredibly hard to, uh, navigate. I have no idea what I'm looking at.

I really think the Circus of Crime is one of the older and more prominent examples here, so I think they deserve a fair shake. This one, maybe?

This you could probably crop out a lot of the bottom part.

Have anything of the actual circus? Your current example seems to rely on the text. @ KTL

Erm, too much title, not enough circus.

How about something like this [1]? Although, admittedly, this seems more like Monster Clown.

These are nice [2] [3] [4] and seems to fall under the Nightmare Fuel rule of "Unintentionally Scary".

Not enough circus? There's a strongman, a clown, a snake charmer, and acrobats. I don't see the issue with that last one, personally.

Sorry, King Tyrant Lizard,I was referring to Deboss's image. Although with Dr. Doom there your last image is a tad misleading, and not really that visually frightening.

This right here, is the best visual representation of a Circus Of Fear in my opinion [1]

Ninety Nine percent of what showed up for a GIS of "scary circus" was Monster Clown.

This one at least looks like a building instead of just a clown.

I thought Circus of Fear described evil or sinister circuses, not necessarily frightening ones. And yes, I realize it's right in the name, but still.
