Even though killing him isn't required, You can get Agidyne and Fire Amp off of Bifrons on Day 5 if you kill him during the battle to save Otome Yanagiya at the Tsuutenkaku.

I got him, but I didn't manage to get Ziodyne because he really needed to die that turn and the person I selected Ziodyne for had already moved.

I've never used Shield All. I found it kinda pointless when I could focus on offense. Is it really any good?

It has its uses. Like when you want your team to not die.

It's really useful in DS 1 at least. But DS 2 is so easy to crack open that it may be less useful.

I may try it sometime.

It's more useful on demons than on characters. If you have a squishy magic demon and a squishy leader you can get Shield All on a fast demon and let the other two handle nuking.

Phecda down. Fight had a hilarious ending. I took out the one weak to Phys, leading the other one to regenerate with just a sliver of HP... and then, for some reason, rather than go for any of my now-weakened characters, he killed himself on Ronaldo, who has Almighty moves. No idea why.

Ronaldo himself in the previous mission was actually quite a bit harder, with his range of 3 and Mow Down.

Have to say I quite like this Ronaldo fellow. Looks out for the little guy. Would get along with the Phantom Thieves, maybe.

Though his people did apparently nearly beat Jungo to death, though I'm not sure if he ordered that specifically.

I'm pretty sure that his followers have a few loose screws. On Day 6 this becomes true for himself after taking down Mizar.

In the gameplay sense, I like how Ronaldo is one of the few characters that actually has a strategic demon loadout whenever you fight him (he pretty much always has something to compensate for his Vile demons' Racial Skill penalties, like an Avian or a Kishin). While I think his ending route isn't bad, he unfortunately makes a very bad impression in the final mission right before the route split, which is especially jarring if you've been following his subplot where he realizes his extremist ways are self-destructive. It doesn't help that ultimately he's directly or indirectly responsible for the deaths of a handful of much more popular and sympathetic characters (potentially).

So I think I've figured out my plan. For this run I'm concentrating of maxing Fates and will go for the Triumphant ending, then on NG+ my focus will be on beating the secret bosses and I'll do Kingmaker.

For Kingmaker it really helps if you complete the Anguished One's Fate, keep Jungo alive, and advance his Fate and Hinako's Fate to Rank 4 so that you have a full team when you have to fight both Daichi and Io.

You can get Triumphant by deciding to kill the last boss and having everyone. I know because I got it for the original. Go for that ending!

I thought deciding to kill the last boss got you the worst ending?

Oh it does, but it still counts as Triumphant if you have everyone.

I was amused when that happened as I didn't expect it.

Also don't forget you have multiple files so if they changed it save a file just before it.

Soo... I just finded out that among the many demons that got their own theme song in SMT Imagine, one of them is Frost Ace.

And the song is an awesome parody of the opening theme of Kamen Rider Stronger!

Hell he even got a tokusatsu-style opening!

After a brief difficulty spike, the game got easier again after I got all the Dances (incl. the Phys equivalent Berserk), Media, and Diarama. Ronaldo and his absurd range was still pretty hard, though.

Just got Soul Hackers in the mail. I am incredibly perterbed that it came sans original case. Gamestop has failed me yet again.

Oh, that reminds me, I need to do a second run of Soul Hackers to save a certain character/finish compendium/beat bonus bosses... Though that will wait until I do at least one playthrough of Apocalypse once I'm finished with IV. I was playing Persona 5 while my 3DS was used by my brother, so my Chaos run got delayed, but now I'm past route split with almost all demons unlocked. I will probably finish it tomorrow, unless I will feel like Famed/Fiend hunting (which I probably will).

Starting another playthrough of Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If Golden Odin is voiced in a future game, they have to get D.C. Douglas back to voice him. Douglas was awesome as Odin.

And now I want Douglas to recite Mr. Wednesday's declaration of who he is in the SMT Odin's voice.

In Megrez's arc now. Have met Kaworu Na- errm, the Anguished One, who's revealed himself as the one sending the death videos. Now I have to save Joe's sorry hide.
