You know, I kinda wonder if Jared is going to take a cue from Half-Life 2 on this one. I mean, it is responsible to neuter your pets, and if a headcrab can be a lovely pet if you defang it, maybe a facehugger... sorry, "Easter crab" will be perfectly fine if you just remove the ovipositor.

You might end up with the facehuggers still choking you without the oviposition, though - remember that the defanged headcrab still tried to "mate" with people's heads. The question is: Does castrating(?) a facehugger rid them of the instinct to put their eggs into people?

Well that would depend on what part you cut off and how the specifics of anatomy work. Spayed cats don't go into heat because the bits that produce hormones are removed. So if the facehuggers have specific glands that produce hormones that fuel the drive to reproduce then that can be removed and they'll be docile about people's faces.

So given that, the headcrab example had the teeth and whatever else it uses to actually latch onto heads removed, but the biological clock that drives him to attempt it was not dug out.

Man, I know that it isn't Rock's style (also, with as bad as Duke's driving, the last thing he needs is a further distraction), but panel 2 is so smug, it's kind of a wonder that Duke didn't get a sock in the jaw.

If nothing else, though, that adrenalin rush should give Rock what he needs to be awake enough to insist on taking the wheel. Also... who does Rock know that he can carpool with? Just Poison?

Finally, had a Face Palm Fridge Logic moment: did Duke never hear of contacts?

Contacts aren't radical.

Admittedly not, but they're also not obvious.

Maybe he's uncomfortable with the prospect of shoving a hunk of glass in his eye. It's my reason for staying with glasses.

...Contacts are plastic though.

Admittedly, my eyes are so sensitive that I literally can't wear contacts. On the flip side, though, I love the look of regular glasses, so I never looked into ways to mitigate that.

Also, someone point out in the web comment that more than half asskicker extraordinaire in Hellsing are wearing glasses. Including ol' Alucard.

And he (normally) and Integra doesn't have beard, either.

Alucard's lenses are tinted. It's the same coolness factor Duke's talking about in this comic.

Integra's aren't. And Walter has that monocle, which counts for at least half.

Integra and Walter don't have the look Duke's going for. He's the "Ultra-manly beacon of masculinity who breaks faces and takes names" look. They're the "Highly cultured intellectual who will politely kick your ass over a spot of tea" look.

It's a very region-specific appeal, and Duke's just not British enough to pull it off.
