MLP was intended to be endearing towards parents as well as kids. That's partly why it acquired such a big audience....
Formerly known as Bleddyn And I am feeling like a ghost Resident Perky GothEven more so FIM. It's got a lot more mature themes that make it easy for others to watch, besides children, or even girls.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.And late teens and mid twenty men manage to be neither...
I tried to watch the show, I couldn't see much of the appeal it would have for older audiences.
Inter arma enim silent legesWell I was just repeating what the original creator (or was it writer?) of the show aka Lauren Faust said (although she's not working on MLP anymore). The show was at the very least intended to be regarded well by parents as well as there children. This isn't too surprising considering past shows she wrote for like the original Powerpuff Girls being intended towards both children and adults...
The appeal obviously won't endear itself to everyone and that's fine. My problem stands if someone goes out of there way to try to viciously demean and dehumanize others just for liking something they don't like and don't care to understand. Mind you I am not really one to call myself a brony but I do have many friends and acquaintances that do label themselves as that (or pegasister). I only defend the fandom when dehumanizing tactics are used. I don't care much for fandoms beyond the fanworks otherwise.
Formerly known as Bleddyn And I am feeling like a ghost Resident Perky GothYour, uh, your avatar is a pony.
At least in this site, I don't think I've ever seen an user who has a pony avatar and isn't a brony.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. And that matters how? I don't call myself a brony and I have many many other avatars of other works. I didn't even start picking up these avatars until recently....
The literal only reason why I have pony avatars is because they are cute and easily identifiable. This was in contrast into my original horror or intimidating avatars. People seemed to like them so I kept them

Formerly known as Bleddyn And I am feeling like a ghost Resident Perky GothI don't really watch the show anymore, at least not as fanatically as I used to (and even when I did I stopped calling myself a brony eventually due to the stigma surrounding that word), but I still have a few avatars of Coco Pommel and in fact used them long after I "fell off the wagon" so to speak. It's not that unusual.

pearlina brainrot affects millions of people worldwide. if you or a loved one are suffering from pearlina brainrot, call 1-800-GAY-NERDSI tried to watch My Little Pony, but I couldn't get 5 minutes into the show. It doesn't appeal to me.

Which is totally fine. It isn't for everybody. Funnily enough I haven't actually watched the show yet. I haven't had the time to spare and all of the colors can get a bit hard to take in at times.
Literally the only reason I have avatars of ponies from the show is because I find the fanart these avvies came from cute. I am not immune to cute things....
I don't like bandwagoning but the fanwork was kind of hard to ignore when it was everywhere.

Formerly known as Bleddyn And I am feeling like a ghost Resident Perky GothHuh.
I mean had a pony-tar too, two of 'em, they had afros. I watch the show and if you ID'd "brony" as an adult fan of the show than that's what I'd be.

Or basically, "Pauli Poisuo plays with Google's autocomplete". And as a few questions were inevitable considering he started to type, others are just... What ?
Edit : Didn't want to comment on it, but yeah, that's cringeworthy.

Then there's Mckinney's latest article. Won't link it, but you'll know that his less desirable writing personality hasn't changed.
It's telling that even in an article about how atheists like himself need to stop being such jerks he still likened faith to being a battered wife.
Wow, that's not insulting to my Christian parents at all.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Against my better judgment, I read it all the way through. Or I tried. I lost interest and started skimming after he implied that the women who work on Zelda games were victims of internalized misogyny because they felt okay with making a game that didn't give you the option to play as a female character. Generic "everything is sexist" rant #13279. Don't read it.
For bonus douchebag points, he includes a line bashing the religious after having (apparently) written an article about how his fellow atheists shouldn't bash the religious. Because practicing what you preach is for dipshits

pearlina brainrot affects millions of people worldwide. if you or a loved one are suffering from pearlina brainrot, call 1-800-GAY-NERDSI think this is the closest article on Toxic Masculinity by Cracked.
Luke's article...I am going to skip Cracked's articles when it comes to gender and sexism.
Tropes are not bad...not! The article
Inter arma enim silent legesI hate DCB's movie articles. Apparently he's on the books as a political researcher. He should just stick to that.
I don't see how The Road to El Dorado and The Emperors New Groove are similar to each other.
I actually had to read the article to see where that point was made. One of his criteria is "exact same setting", so I imagine the similarity the two have is "both are very South American-ish".
Also, #7 is "Technology's advanced enough that we can now realistically make actors look younger". I have no idea what's weird about people taking advantage of that, or why that's a problem.
Madagascar and the Wild? I'll give you those. Those two have pretty similar premises. Shark Tale probably really was a rip-off of Finding Nemo, back when basically all anyone knew about it was "Pixar's making a fish movie". Flushed Away and Ratatouille? Those two barely resemble each other beyond the fact that the protagonists are rats.
Road to El Dorado and Emperor's New Groove? They don't even take place in the same region, the plots are totally different, and the characters are really different too. Road to El Dorado is presumably somewhere in Mexico or Central America because of the Mayan/Aztec thing, and Emperor's New Groove probably takes place in Peru, because it is clearly based on the Incans.
Not Three Laws compliant."Like I said, South American-ish."
"Dude, Mexico is not in South America."
"South American-ish."
"Latin American-ish. There, happy?"

Worldbuilding is fun, writing is a choreIn fairness, the two are about a wacky duo going on a journey in a Mayincatec setting. In unfairness, that's an extremely broad description and "mayincatec" isn't a thing outside of pop culture.

It's almost like entertainment for adults is made for 2/4 markets, those markets being older women/men or youthful women/men. It's not like cross-market entertainment is a thing in the mind of studio execs. When they market for kids, adults are pretty far down the list, since they aren't really in the target market in the first place :p
