Maxwell becomes MAXWE.
When I played Earthbound, guess what I nicknamed Ness?
Torgo. And his favorite thing? Manos.
PSI Manos Ω!
"USE YOUR WORDS NOT THE FABRIC OF THE UNIVERSE" ''memyselfand I 2"In Pokemon Ruby, I named my Duskull (to be Dusclops) "Gibdo," after the Zelda enemy. Which I sort of regret doing now, because it means I tend to refer to Dusclopses as "Gibdo" even though it's blatantly wrong.
Most of my character naming fun is in Pokemon. Though in Snowpack Park, I did discover that one penguin was naturally named "Curry." So I apended the name "Tim" in front of it.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaDunno if I mentioned this, but in Worms Reloaded, I named my team "Badshot Brothers."
Also, in Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, my personal Fan Nickname for Autolog is "Facecrap."
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelIn Pokemon Leaf Green I named my Player character "Tove", my Rival "Sven" and my pokes Thor, Freyja, Odin, Loki, Idun and Hel.
In Heart Gold I named myself "Helena" and my Rival "Achiles" and named my pokes Zeus, Hera, Poseiden, Hades, Pan and Athena.
In White I plan to name my character "Isis" and my Rival "Ramses" and call my pokemon Seth, Horus, Apophis, Osiris, Hathor and Anubis.
Mythology YAY!

I'm having to learn to pay the priceI name every Pokemon. This is mainly due to some Epileptic Trees I have about the franchise involving Trainers uplifting them and their culture down the line employing some kind of I Know Your True Name aspects. A sample:
- By tradition, Pidgey are named Tobias.
- My first 'mon ever was a Charmander named Mushu... so, naturally, when it came time for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers, I played a female Charmander named Mulan.
- I have long had trouble naming Ho-oh something suitable, but then I played Shadow Of The Colossus! His name is Dormin.
- Mewtwo = Giygas
I don't do a whole lot of wacky naming outside that franchise... though Dad did do a run of Ocarina Of Time with the name Rand, and I saw a Twilight Princess screenshot where someone had named Epona 'My Penis'. "Get up on My Penis and hollar!" [/twelve-year-old]

Extra 1: Poochy Ain't StupidI name every Pokemon too, but mostly just 'cuz I feel like even Pokemon deserve names.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaI intend to name my Hawke's in DA 2 "moe" for my male and "lady" for my female.
I think I'll name mine "Ebon".
When it comes to names, I normally use the defaults. If a character already has an established official name, I just don't have the heart to name them anything else. (unless they're the female player character in Pokemon, in which case they'll be named after me.)
With the Pokemon themselves, I'm slightly more creative. They're often given cute names that you could reasonably expect to name a pet, except for those times where you'd need a very specific line of logic to even vaguely consider a nickname fitting. Mascot Olympus Mons are sometimes named after their own game. Among the examples of the above are:
- Absol: Abby (cute)
- Roserade: Vendetta (nonsensical)
- Lugia: Silver (mascot)
- Garchomp: Bunny (cute, nonsensical, brilliant if you think about it hard enough)
Late to the party, I know.
Disgaea is the only example I can recall right now. I called my first prinny in Dark Hero Days by one of the randomly generated names at first, then changed it in a fit of childishness to 'Pvt. Douche' when he refused to stop dying and start contributing to battles, gorramit.
Then when he was reincarnated to the next level (the orange-skinned one), since it was called 'Prinny Sergeant' (or something else military-related), I renamed him into 'Lt. Douche' since he was still kinda useless. I recall he made it to the fourth tier and was called 'Lord Douche' by the time I stopped playing.
Storm and trouble won't make you make you lose your way. (Tits might, though.)
