Should I write it?

I've got this idea for a 5-part series of books. I have the time to work on them next summer, and I mighty experiment with writing parts of the first book. It's still changeable, though I have been working on the Canon.

To sum it up fast, its about a young man taking over a rebel group ina newly conquered kingdom, stylized like a mix of medieval Germany and the Iroquois cheifdoms. He fights something similar to the Roman empire, but with medieval technology. Sailing is far more adavnced then the Eart equivelabt, so the world is far more connected. A great World War will break out, only fought with swords and arrow instead of tanks and gun. Strategy will be very well described and used.

Would anyone read this?

If you're feeling good enough to write something, then just write it, even if it's for personal enjoyment. At the very least you're keeping the creative juices flowing. Best case scenario is you make a hit sensation. And if people don't like it, then their criticisms help you grow.

Although I guess the worst worst case scenario is some big name hot shot reads your story and steals the idea and then makes millions.

Are you seriously asking this. YES. OF COURSE YOU SHOULD. The muses have gifted you with an idea. I mean even if it doesn't hit it big it's practice. Useful practice.

Go for it. Don't quit school/your day job or anything, but go for it. As long as you don't become a Small Name, Big Ego, the worst possible fate is obscurity.

Hmm, alright. The thing is, I'm not normally someone who does things like this, I got a bajillion ideas, but I'm not a doer. But good point on the obscurity thing. What's the worse that could happen?

sounds cool, i think there is always an audience for these a geek audience, so you need to be really good at storybuilding, which isnt a bad thing it all depends on whether you think you can finish it and whether or not wyou think it is worth trying to five books is a lot of work, and there is nothing worst than unfinished tales, after all

I'd like the second all the advice from Karlz Belena, Killer Clowns and Giant Space Chinchilla.

Well, first of all, he really isn't ready for this kind of thing. He severely questions himself throught the first 3 parts of the series, and only really finds his way in part 4 before serious plot stuff happens.

The leader of The Empire draws parrellels to a modern day military dictator. However, he is not mentally stable, and frquently communicates acorss ocean and plain with our hero.

I'm going to admit, I've always been a large story > small conflict guy, a plot > character guy. But as I work it out there could be some good character development and internal conflict.

Trust me, I can't really describe the story first without some major spoilers. ANd btw, this isn't something that I could simply post here on the forums. The whole thing (if I do it) end from finish will probably be 2500 pages or something.
