Not upfront. The job has too much invested in me for me to possibly consider just up and leaving. Certainly I'd be negotiating some new terms of employment, though. Long-term, I think I'd be unutterably bored without something productive to do, and I don't count playing World of Warcraft in that category.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"If you win the lottery, the worst thing you can do is quit your job.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayNo. I love what I'm doing right now. Although there are some things that would make me drop it like a hot rock, more money is not one of them.
| DA Page | Sketchbook |I would. But I'd need to find somethign productive to do. Like, just figuring out what to do with it all would keep me busy for awhile.
Pay off all debt? Check. Buy a house? Check. Invest the majority of the remainder? Check.
After that, I suppose I could spend time living off of investment returnsm, writing, and tinkering on cars in the garage. I've wanted the ability to tinker for years, but it's so hard to do so when all you got is a parking space and housing association rules prohibiting you from changing your own oil. I get a house, and a lot of restrictions I have are suddenly gone.
Plus, I'd have way more time to write, and I'd be sure to have a room in the hosue for just myself. Guys need a place to witdraw to call their own.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.Back when I was employed, I would certainly have left-and that was a job being paid (in theory-don't ask) to play video games!
But part of that is just an issue of mobility.
Not employed but I'd still keep looking for a job.
Fight smart, not fair.Currently unemployed, but I would not. It depends how much money I won from that lottery, but in any case, it is not a bottomless pit of money; a single theft, or a bad investment, or some such could rob me of it, and I'd be there, with no job and little money.
While that is all a little paranoid, I'd either try and stay in my current job, or do something that would allow me to attain a greater job, such as getting a degree or something.
I would just work part-time and choose my clients, working on my own time. I'd then pay off my student loans, finish my Masters Degree and focus on writing and training while maintaining a minimal source of income. I'd also pay off my car and either get something faster or make performance modifications to the current one starting with suspension and intake/exhaust. Possibly both, depending on the cars.
No I would pay my debts and probably pay off my parent's home so my father can retire with less stress and maybe relax a bit. I would finally take a week long vacation to visit Europe as I have always planned and hoped to do and carefully invest and save the rest of my money.
Who watches the watchmen?Depends how much it is and what job I'm doing. Coming into a good chunk of change, the kind where you can invest half of it and still have enough for some major expenses, would be a good marker it's time to have kids, and I want to be able to quit when I have kids because I anticipate a difficult pregnancy due to family history, so, yes.
BTW, I'm a chick.Oooo! I'd finally be able to afford my dream trip to Chernobyl!
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.Id so do that with a breath mask of course.
Who watches the watchmen? And geiger counter. Really important. But since I'd have lots of money, I could afford one of the really good ones.

Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.I wouldn't quit, I'd just find a really spectacular way to get fired.
I'm chaotic like that.
Well, I suppose that would work too...
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold. Not right away, because I work in the family business and they would be somewhat more than annoyed if I pulled up stakes and left. That being said, I would eventually, because both they and I agree that its not really what I want to do with my life.
If I were to write some of the strange things that come under my eyes they would not be believed. ~Cora M. Strayer~I just gained a part-time job at Michaels, as a seasonable grunt, and while part of it was for the money part of it was also for the working experiences. I kind of hope to prove myself, that I can do a job well... since I've never done one before. It's only seasonal, so no, I wouldn't quit. Plus it's cool being surrounded by amazing things all day. Just gives me more time to look at the stuff I plan to buy with my new lottery money XD !
But it would certainly change my college career. I'd pay off things like my parent's houses, get important stuff like insurance or whatever I guess, put aside important savings and ration my spendings, and then I'd reassess what I want to do with education. I'd take all the cool classes I wanted to but couldn't afford to waste time with! I'd go back to double-majoring, and then plan to come back for more later! I love school! I'd become totally Renaissance, and then choose what career I want afterwards! I'd save money for the traveling abroad I want to do, and uh, yeah, I'd go crazy XD .
I think I may choose not to go for the job I'm currently shooting for, which I guess is bad )= . I like science, and environmental science, but I realize that the actual professions this education will lead me toward will lead to average satisfaction.

My iMoodI don't have a dayjob yet so....no?
I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....In a heartbeat. The I'd hire someone to burn the place down and have the boss and most of the employees executed. Would probably blow all my money but it would be worth it.
Trump delenda estI'm not sure if I would, I deal with drunken morons all night, it's funny. I'd definitly work a lot less though.
I wouldn't but I want to start my own business, that takes more than just money to be successful so I'd still have to work hard.
No. I get depressed when I don't have enough to do, and no matter how many hobbies I might start, I don't think they'd be enough to keep my brain active. What I would do is switch to working part time, so that I had more time to goof off, but still had fulfilling work. (It helps that I do have a rewarding job; it's just a time consuming one.)
No. I'd work (or given the circumstance volunteer) more, I'd also donate to the fund raising section so that the charity is able to help more/accept more each day.
I work for a charity helping those on the autistic spectrum and I love my job, but talking to the people in charge funding is a major issue. Hence the answer given above.
By the powers invested in me by tabloid-reading imbeciles, I pronounce you guilty of paedophilia!
Question for employed tropers.
Imagine you suddenly became very wealthy. Won the lottery, inherited something, wrote a bestseller, whatever. Would you quit your current job?
If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.
