Gush About Tropers You Like

Go To

(I'm not sure where this really belongs, so I'm putting it in YF for now. Mods, feel free to move it to Forum Games if you think it fits better there.)

The point of this thread is to list your favorite tropers and say what makes you like them so much. Please be specific; we already have Gushing About Shows You Like if you want to gush about TV Tropes or the Forums in general.

EDIT: Chopped the list because it's now quite outdated, and there are some comments in here that only made sense back in 2009 and may have even been a bit creepy.

Yes, I just gushed about Tongpu, to some extent. Have this towel, to wipe up your exploded brains.
I think at this point, Tongpu got gushed about more often than I did. tongue

You've got a nice personality, even if I don't know you as well as some of the others.

Well, if there's any solace, you've certainly got gushed about more than I did.

Awww, Komodin.

I don't know you well at all, but I know I can give you credit for striking a good balance between not buckling under the pressure of having such unpopular opinions, and not turning into a complete jerkass who justifies his opinions by acting all high and mighty... this got overly complicated.

In short, you have your opinions, you hold on to them even under extreme opposition, but you don't act high and mighty so you can just dismiss what everyone says as worthless, and that takes some strength of character.

^^You seem to fight against the whiny trends in the Sonic fandom, or at least acknowledge them. And for that, I salute you.

Many thanks to Kinkajou, rumetzen, and krrackknut for their praises. All under heaven I will like and help unless they show me that they are truly horrible.

All who have been nice to me I likewise praise, and all who have not been nice to me I forgive and praise, since they have shown me a way to conquer my petty angers.

You're a rather level-headed Sonic fan, Komodin.

Granted, this place doesn't seem to attract much Fan Dumb anyway, which is good. If I wanted that I'd probably go to a games forum like GameSpot or Game FA Qs.

From the Greek name Αικατερινη (Aikaterine). The etymology is debated: it could derive from the earlier Greek name ‘Εκατερινη (Hekaterine), which came from ‘εκατερος (hekateros) "each of the two"; it could derive from the name of the goddess HECATE; it could be related to Greek αικια (aikia) "torture"; or it could be from a Coptic name meaning "my consecration of your name". In the early Christian era it became associated with Greek καθαρος (katharos) "pure", and the Latin spelling was changed from Katerina to Katharina to reflect this.

The name was borne a semi-legendary 4th-century saint and martyr from Alexandria who was tortured on a spiked wheel. The saint was initially venerated in Syria, and the name was introduced to Western Europe by returning crusaders. It has been common in England since the 12th century in many different spellings, with Katherine and Catherine becoming standard in the later Middle Ages.

Famous bearers of the name include Catherine of Siena, a 14th-century mystic, and Catherine de' Medici, a 16th-century French queen. It was also borne by three of Henry VIII's wives, including Katherine of Aragon, and by two empresses of Russia, including Catherine the Great.

I guess that's pretty cool. Except for you know the whole being tortured bit.

Well, we already knew she was one of the Furies.

Your ninja edit...my beautiful context...ruined! RUINED! Well, maybe just as well; context is for the weak, anyway.

(Maybe I should make a gush post, since all the people I make a point to say gush about in this thread seem to be feeling neglected.)

@Haven: I thought it was a bit too obvious having her name in there although now that I think about it I kinda doubt that Katrika is actually her name. =B
