When I read this thread I quite frequently get the "how can someone not know that?" reaction but obviously stuff I post will also elicit that same reaction from others. Of course there's a relevant Oscar Wilde (faux-)quote for this: "Ignorance is not knowing that which I only learned last week".

@ Bacousin. Huawei are pretty much the largest tech infrastructure providers in the world, although the US and Australian Government have banned them from being infrastructure providers due to having allegedly strong links to the Chinese Central Communist Party.

Yeah, the only consumer-facing goods they have are smartphones, and, well... they're Chinese smartphones, so even then...

You're not alone in that. It wasn't until 2001 when I learned that they weren't the same character.

To add to what Hopey says - Huawei do lots of internet infrastructure, but another is lots of mobile stuff such as mobile broadband hubs and dongles, and some things like business routers.
Most often it's Cisco that business goes for when it comes to their internal stuff, but you'll very likely have Huawei radio tech in the tower your mobile phone connects to, and you may have some gear of theirs in the infrastructure that connects you to the internet.
