It's one of those things where writers would prefer to forget it yet can't help keep making Take That! references to it, over and over. Kinda like Jar Jar or Scrappy.

My understanding is that people like the clones, they just don't like the clone storyline. And the combination of KH's loose approach to the original work and Marvel adaptations' loose approach to the original work means that the bits people don't like can be quietly shoved behind the door.

I don't really want to hype myself up to much, but when we look at 1.5, we might be cautiously optimistic for a 2.8 release date from Jump Festa. 1.5 was announced at TGS 2012 for 2013 and the Jump Festa 2013 trailer already had the exact release date, for March no less. So perhaps we will see a similar cycle for 2.8 (hopefully).
