Yeah, to be honest I have a feeling whoever did the casting for KH is used to casting Disney movies, so their pool was full of celebs. (Though according to Anime News Network apparently Japanese Sora dubbed over English Sora in the Sixth sense? So I guess it's possible whoever casted knew they sounded similar enough.)

i don't mind the celeb casting that much. i think it's preferable to getting the same like 10 va's we get in almost every jrpg ever.

well in the case of jrpg's and other japanese games, a lot of the time it's because those jobs don't pay very well and are harder when compared to say, jobs for western animation, and they're fans who love what they do. my main issue is that i think the voice direction is off a lot of the time or the dialogue is just straight terrible (the latter being especially prevalent in KH).

Hm. Maybe that's how I'll feel once I get to it. My playthrough of 1.5 is lagging because I'm not having much fun with the game at the moment (the combat just feels really slow and clunky to me, and I'm not sure it's entirely because this is the first time I'm playing the original game on Proud). The last thing I just did was getting the Warp Gummi from Cid, which I believe means I'll be able to enter the second set of worlds. Oddly enough my levels are skewed, Goofy is somehow level 23, I'm level 20 (though I might be mixing up the levels of those two), and Donald's 18. I'm planning on keeping Donald in my party longer to make up for it.

For reference, before I got 1.5 Remix, I played a bit of Kingdom Hearts II, mostly through Roxas's prologue, and found myself realizing that I was having more fun during the prologue than I am in the hours I've played Remix.

Regarding the celebrity voices in the first game, I agree with the sentiment that it's probably due to casting the game similar to Disney films. They probably weren't expecting this series to go beyond more than one or two titles at first and just shot for what they felt would "fit" with the "Disney" part of Kingdom Hearts.

I don't think whether they're in your party actually affects how much XP they get. I know I've gotten level-ups for all four characters on the world after beating a boss. So basically, get used to Goofy being ahead of you and Donald being behind. The captain of the guard really knows his way around killing monsters and the court mage doesn't. Go figure.

AFAIK, it doesn't affect EXP at all.

Although IIRC, KHII doesn't give LVUP notifications for non-active party members (just the bonus reward from boss fights and such) like KHI did.

Yeah, everyone gets EXP, even if they're not active. All three of the main trio have the same EXP, despite me switching out Donald for Aladdin when he was necessary for navigating the Cave of Wonders.

,, If that's the case, it's probably due to Donald being knocked out the majority of the time. I'm still getting my bearings on how to set up the other party members, but Goofy's pretty capable (as was Tarzan), so I'm guessing it's just Donald's squishiness that's letting him down. I'll probably just need to get him some better defensive accessories for him to survive better.

I'm pretty sure that has no effect on it either. Donald and Goofy have both been knocked out plenty for me, but we have exactly the same amount of EXP.

They just gain levels at different rates. My Donald lagged behind for a while, but now I think he's only a level behind me. But Goofy is way out front, and has been the entire game. It's just how they're balanced.

I didn't mind him, to be honest. Or any of the celebrity voice cast, for that matter. Wait until you get to KHII for that matter: Tate Donovan returns as Hercules, which is a good thing. Also in that game, Mena Suvari's performance as Aerith is horrible.

I kept switching out Donald in KHI for Disney party members; I should have stopped doing so once he got Cure magic. You still need both him and Goofy for Trinity marks (while on the hunt for those, I was searching for some in Agrabah when both party members were out, then somewhere in the dark chamber I needed Aladdin to clear an obstacle).

I was already enjoying KHI when I started playing (probably because I was watching a handful of Disney movies right before then; Aladdin was the last of those movies the day before I began to play Kingdom Hearts).

KHII improves the combat, which is probably one of the reasons why many fans prefer it over KHI. It indeed gets better there.

I feel the urge to give my own (somewhat random) Kairi headcanons.

• I mentioned a while back that I think she's interested in theater. In a reversal of traditional Shakespearean casting (that is to say, female roles being played by male actors, because no girls allowed), she's actually played a few male roles - believe it or not, she makes a scarily good Mephistopheles.

• If she ever went to a Haunted Mansion world (which I'd love to see, incidentally), she'd take an instant liking to the singing busts, and would be more than happy to sing a few songs with them - she teaches them this one.

I like how the Roxas headcanon list described him as "simultaneously a teenager and a very young child." That's actually a really good way of putting it.

That reminds me of Tales of the Abyss.

I have a message from another time...

I made a Worms Armageddon voice pack for Master Xehanort. The voice clips come from Birth by Sleep and Dream Drop Distance, with the exception of the jump clip, which is BOO RAY! from Everglow's BOO RAY! videos. There's also a short clip of the music from the Keyblade Graveyard as a victory fanfare whenever the Xehanort team wins a round. I'll be uploading it to a site for user made Worms content soon once I figure out how to do that. Would anyone be interested if I posted a link for it here?

It's the first voice pack I've made and I'm quite happy with the result for my first attempt. I'm considering making more, though not necessarily Kingdom Hearts themed ones.
