The beer was actually a necromancer potion. She's fighting off the phantoms she's been given the power to see.
Which is why her eyes are closed. She's using True Sight from her Third Eye.

It's like Jeph said "hey I miss having a Faye in a coffee shop" so now there's Renee.
I am struggling to think of even a single difference between them.

Skin tone is pretty much it.
Renee does seem to be more of a go-getter than Faye. That part where Brun first moved in where Renee was horrifyingly energetic and helpful while Brun just wanted to sleep until the afternoon. I can't imagine Faye has seen the inside of a gym outside of the brief arc where Penny was Faye's workout buddy. They're both snarky and mean, but that seems to be a universal Jeph character trait.
"I hasten to interject that I have potentially time-sensitive data that merits immediate consideration." - VaarsuviusThe entire Secret Bakery crew is supposed to be altered versions of our original cast.
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117There's a very subtle difference in the tone of Renee's snark in comparison to Faye, at least to me.
OK, does this mean Elliott has been replaced by Brun as the Secret Bakery's Hanners?
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117I had Elliott as the Marten, though Marten didn't actually work there. "Waaaaaaah I'm angsty about a giiiiiiiiiirl I'm so confused and doofy"
"I hasten to interject that I have potentially time-sensitive data that merits immediate consideration." - VaarsuviusElliot was a bit confused and doofy about Padma, but he was pretty chill when Marten got with her instead. Seems like a pretty happy-go-lucky guy, Marten's similar but he's also a wee bit more sardonic when the mood strikes him.
I don't think we've seen Elliot too upset. I also don't think we've seen Marten be as much of a blushy doof when someone implies he likes someone, though I think there are moments before Dora where he deflects the question or doesn't outright say no when Faye pushes him about it.
Otherwise, Renee and Elliot - specifically the crush teasing - does give me some classic QC vibes as far as the dynamic goes. But Elliot doesn't strike me as a Marten expy, personally. Never really has.
Though the original Secret Bakery page seems to disagree with me as far as doppelgangers go. I guess I can give Elliot the Marten Reed stamp of approval the same way I can give Renee the Faye Whitaker stamp of approval.

Who's the one that says the thing's on fire in that page? Because she acts like Faye but doesn't look like Renee.
I figured that was supposed to be the Raven analogue.
That would make sense.
That's Renee. She's... undergone some serious changes in both design and personality.

Hannalore's OCD and Brun's autism are going to be the comic's equivalent of putting chocolate and peanut butter together into a peanut butter cup, isn't it?
Also, does it seem strange to anyone else to have Hannalore just going places and doing stuff for no reason? Seems a little against her nature.
| Wandering, but not lost. | If people bring so much courage to this world...◊ |It's not "no reason". She learned Brun was fastidious and liked clocks and made the perfectly reasonable decision that this was a person she needed to have as a friend.
Fresh-eyed movie blogAnd why was she in the shop to overhear that in the first place? According to her, no reason.
| Wandering, but not lost. | If people bring so much courage to this world...◊ |To put it bluntly, any abnormalities in Hanner's behaviour can (and have been) excused by different cocktail of medication. Plus she is carefully cultivating the ability to be comfortable around people.
And yeah, not like she went to somewhere unknown on her own.
Hannalore knows the employees of Secret Bakery thanks to the deal between the two business, so it's not like she doesn't know anyone there.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."The problem with that argument on Trump is that it stops working when someone is so incredibly obviously mentally ill, although Jeph misdiagnoses him - he's a clinical narcissist.
Seriously, I get the problems with diagnosing at a distance, but the thing about narcissists is that by definition they're extremely revealing of themselves, and the guy's so textbook that psychology courses are redesigning their material around him.
What's precedent ever done for us?OTC is over there.

But in another world, next to ours, something is getting the crap beaten out of it without knowing how or why.
