Faye should've gone in and held her hand.
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117Only if she put a glove on first probably.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableI know it's deeply wrong but seeing Hanners in that position makes me want to doctor to pull out a tattoo kit and give her a tramp stamp.
I have weird, evil thoughts sometimes.
Trump delenda est*snerk* "DO NOT APPROACH ON PAIN OF DEATH"
I've had that freezing procedure done before a few times, and it stings, but that pain's brief and it goes numb within a few seconds. The worst part is about 10 minutes after, when the feeling starts coming back...hoo boy, does it burn.

Wouldn't be the first time Dora's been mistaken for Marten.
[insert link to the Gender Bender guest strip]
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableI love reading strips about Faye and Angus breaking up, because they joke so much about it ending messily which is exactly what happened.
That's not the first or the last one. Someone should really compile all the strips.
Also, I found the A.I. speech strip I love so much.

Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down. The speech itself is "eh" for me, because I don't particularly care about Jeph's opinion about how we should treat beings that are purely theoretical and will be for a very long time.
Marigold's reaction is great though, because it's basically exactly how I feel. She doesn't particularly care about the subject Momo was just reading about. As far as she's concerned, her friend is just being really weird right now.
I HAVE RULED THIS PLANET FOR SEVERAL DECADES. WHAT NEED HAVE I OF THESE "RIGHTS" YOU SPEAK OF?
- Google at some point in the near future, probably.

@Bad Wolf It's relevant to the world they live in. It's just world building I guess.
You know, I just realized something about Faye.
There's no doubt that she's tough - she speaks big, but she can hit big too. She's been seen throwing someone out of Coffee of Doom with her scorn alone, and she's slugged Marten in the arm at least 10 times in the comic's history - one of the most recent times, in the early 1800's after Marten and Dora's break-up, giving him a massive bruise according to him. She's also sparred openly with Padma in the street and held her own pretty well, shown when she doesn't deflect one of Padma's punches while drunk and ends up with a bloody nose and broken glasses because of it.
But here's the thing - to my knowledge, we've never seen someone after taking a full on beating from Faye. The comic has gags like Sven getting roughed up and Marten asking if Faye did it, there are countless comments about taking people around to the back of Coffee of Doom and fist-murdering them, but I'm pretty sure the comic has never depicted someone visually after being absolutely crushed by Faye's fists. There are lots of anecdotes, but I'm pretty sure not one of those outcomes has been shown visually.
Jeph can do pretty scary stuff if he wants to - look at Alice's Curb-Stomp Battle against Gavia in Alice Grove. I wonder if it's because QC is mostly a light-hearted slice of life with the occasional character-breaking drama, and getting legitimately intense with the fights would cheapen the more dramatic moments of violence in the story, or because showing the violent and rough Faye in that sort of light would make her a whole lot less likeable than if the violence is merely described.
Sorry about the sudden rant, I've been reading a lot of classic QC lately and it's been on my mind.
Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down.New page. I never realized before how hypocondriacal Hanners was.
Trump delenda estYou hadn't noticed just how broken "Used to spend weeks curled up in a dark room not talking" Hanners was?
= Spindriver =Yeah but in relation to her health issues it always seemed more in the background than really in your face the way this has been although I suppose her clean freak tendencies are linked to it.

Trump delenda estIt's not too surprising, but yeah - this is still a first time for this particular situation.
Speaking of childhood Hanners, though, here are some choice strips from the space Station storyline. I know only the first one is related to childhood Hanners, but the space Station storyline is where a lot of her childhood information comes from and it's where I'm currently up to in my re-read. So hooray, kinda-related-but-not-really comic links~
Honestly, childhood!Hanners breaks my heart.
(also here's claire's first appearence as an add-on link)

Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down.Given someone with Hanners's state of mental fragility, any situation is likely to generate a neurotic and paranoid response. Hypochondria is just an aspect of that.

= Spindriver =But if QC were a TV show, they wouldn't kill off Hanners. She's the Plucky Sidekick. They almost never die.
Almost.
ETA: No page for Plucky Sidekick? Really?

I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117.....that kinda feels more like Mari than Hanners.
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117Good news - I'm about 100 comics away from finishing my re-read, so soon I'll be back to regular discussion posts instead of these big-ass recap posts.
Just today, I've read from the lake-house party arc through to Claire and Marten getting together, and I'm still going. Going through the comics where Marten and Claire begin dating, it feels a lot more smooth reading it in one go. I think one of the reasons the relationship felt ehh to begin with is because it was going on at a one-strip-a-day pace right next to Faye and Angus' fallout. I could be wrong - maybe Faye and Angus started dating a couple dozen strips after Marten and Dora broke up - but I don't think Marten and Faye's relationship statuses inversed quite as fast the first time, so to see a relationship begin so close to another relationship ending was a bit of a sore point, mostly because of the absolute sugariness of Marten and Claire getting more focus than the bitterness of Faye and Angus.
And of course, Marten spending multiple strips making sure Claire was comfortable with their relationship was a bit draining initially. Necessary, absolutely - the guy wanted his new girlfriend to know he was cool with their arrangement as long as she was - but it was draining to read similar strips nearly back to back. Because after all, we get one strip a day and you can only enjoy sugar for so long until it starts hurting your tongue.
And now I think everything's cool. Faye and Hanners are besties now, May's hanging out with Momo, Marigold and Dale are still together... for the most part, the comic's in a stable place. I hope Jeph writes a storyline about Faye getting a new job soon, though - she needs to pay her half of the rent, and the last time she looked for a job she found a support group instead. Maybe she'll end up at the Secret Bakery? That might feel a bit cheap, but who knows.
And that's pretty much it for my read-through. Good stuff.

Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down.Faye getting a job at the Secret Bakery would be interesting, since Angus' previous ex also works there.
Just a person. He/him.
I want to hug Hannelore.
