We're getting another guy? Sweet; hope he knows his demo.

BTW, no girls allowed.

There's a wizard guy I used in the Avatar Arenas that I'd like to be able to use, but he's not Potter-based. Be cool to make a sort of Expy of him for this game, though. Got a couple of canon spells in mind that may be useful.

Are there already too many wizards here?

Last I checked the wizards are set; we've got 3 active guys on the human side, so i'd say we've got a slot open.

Yeah, I think Nick's gone.

This is more Sabre's headache now, but I'll check your fellow off if I think he'd be a good fit.

I'd like another solider though.

I suppose. Since the wizard team is a little ad-hoc, I can slot you in easily enough at this point. If the commandos ever end up outnumbered, they can even out the difference with firepower.

Before all else, though, I have to see the character concept. And technically, it's still Hungry Joe's show; final approval rests with him.

What the character looks like can be taken from the picture of him in my avatar gallery (only replace the staff with a wand, of course). His name in the Arenas was Laeven, but I'll think of something else if I decide to use him here.

A couple of spells that I think may be useful are Petrificus Totalus (Full Body Bind), Stupefy (Stunning Hex), Ventriliquo (Can't remember if it's canon or not), and maybe the Disillusionment charm mentioned earlier.
EDIT: Actually, I just thought of something else. I should look up some shield charms. I'll holler if I find any good canon ones.

Copied from the first page.

A profile should have the following:

  • Name:
  • Nationality:
  • Gender:
  • Appearance:
  • Backstory:
  • Attire: (clothing nonessential to combat, exclude helmets, include *hats, exclude invisibility cloaks, include masks, camo, unusuall footwear etc. etc.)
  • Weapons/Spells:
  • Muggles can carry any man portable weapons system, but players must be familiar with ins and outs of the weapon. Include Mods and attachments to your heart's content. All secondary weapons should be a reasonable accompiniement.
  • Wizards, Pick 4 spells to have on top, try to have them in-universe. You can use other spells besides these, but their success/failure will be at GM's disgression, non-attack spells and simple ones are more likely to get an OK.
  • Equipment: ( Logical things for muggles, think combat kit. Gasmasks and rifles, no dual wielding miniguns, awesome though it is, be reasonable [not a no to miniguns, but you get one, ammo, maybe a vest and nothing else]). (Wizards get one rare magical item, and than a reasonable collection of things you can find on the main drag of Diagon Alley, plus Weasly's Weaze type stuff.)

Keeping this 'cause perks are always good:

  • Abilities/Perks: Pick 2 for the moment, explain a specific situation where it would give you an edge in combat or deffense, or any other situation.

As it is the commandos are down by one person (player hasn't posted for a while), so your character might be benched for quite a while. You can still kibbitz on the discussion thread. It's ultimately Hungry Joe's call.

If on the next mission the Commandos are still outnumbered, I'll try evening out the difference with high tech stuff as needed — micro UAVs, competent NPC backup, that sort of thing. It really depends on how this mission goes so everyone can get a feel for how wizard-vs-muggle combat would go.

I dunno if you're looking for another player, since there seems to be a player cap here, but if there's a slot open here's my profile:

  • Name: Arthur Clark
  • Nationality: American
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: About 5'6" tall, with ice-blue eyes and slightly tousled black hair. He has been trained to alter his physical appearance when necessary.
  • Backstory: Mr. Clark is a field officer of the CIA, assigned to Project Stargate, the primary intelligence-gathering apparatus of the CIA in all things wizardly. Known to its employees as "the X-Files", the Project gathers information by recruiting low-level bureaucrats in the Ministry For Magic and funding Squibs to run magic-item shops, taverns, and other miscellaneous front businesses. Actual CIA field officers rarely enter the wizarding world personally, instead receiving reports from their agents in place.
Clark himself has been in the CIA since 2011, and has served all around the world in various positions. His outstanding record eventually landed him in Project Stargate, where he found himself easily outclassed by most of the current agents. He ended up having to work his way up, and he is currently only still a short way up his climb. However, his degree in psychology has served him well in this position, and he has several valuable assets in the wizarding world.
  • Attire: On official business, he wears a three-piece black suit with sunglasses. Otherwise, he just wears whatever fits in.
  • Weapons/Spells: Colt M1911 w/ suppressor
  • Equipment: Encrypted cell phone
  • Abilities/Perks:
    • Charisma—Mr Clark is a charmer who is capable of sidling into his target's confidence with relative ease. He can put a suspicious person at ease or rile up a placid man against his enemy. His knowledge of the human psyche gives him a great advantage in this area, one he knows how to exploit.
    • Spy Ring—Mr. Clark can keep tabs on wizard events and pass them on to his allies. Things which are public knowledge and low-level government files are open to him.

If you need me to tone him down, lemme know. I just figured I'd try something a little different from the rest of you all on the Muggle side. :P

Lovely. The Muggles are down by one person, anyway, so a new character is going to be welcome. Just the way it's structured (the other three commando PCs all being military types), you're going to end up doing the odd jobs on the Muggle team—support, urban operations, and so forth, unless you really object to that. We'll figure out a way to slot you into the team.

Anyway, Mr. Clark may or may not be participating in the current raid on King's Cross. If you're going ahead with it, the game thread and the discussion thead are two good places to read. I can PM you a recap if needed.

Welcome to the game, and have fun!

This is irritating as hell...the forum isn't letting me post in either the RP or Discussion threads. Every time I try, the post disappears. I'll try again at regular intervals, but if it doesn't work you know the reason why. I'm not intentionally delaying the game, you understand. Sorry if I'm unresponsive on either of those two threads for a while.

EDIT: 10PM Pacific time, and the forum is still not working right for me. I'll try to get everything together on this thread. Sorry for the inconvenience.

No, I didn't. For the foreseeable future, posts will be typed out here; I might have to ask one of you to copy-paste them into the appropriate threads.

Never mind, fixed it. Some kind of caching problem.

I have been encouraged to seek this thread out by the powers that be. Hopefully this isn't full of terribly egregious errors.

  • Name: Czesława Szymańska
  • Age: 26
  • Nationality: Polish
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: tallish, dull grey eyes, shorter dark brown hair (neck/jaw length), numerous piercings in both ears,
  • Backstory: Member of a not exceedingly prominent family of Polish wizard scholars largely concerned with studying the fading power of magic in their home country. Not terribly interested in matters of magic, she slacked her way through studies in Warsaw barely scraping through her final tests. She then proceeded to eschew wizarding employment for a job with the muggle Policja. When the magical world was outed worldwide so was she, forcing her to flee the country separate from her family. She eventually ended up in England but has no idea where the rest of her relatives are and for all relevant purposes doesn't care. Actually more intelligent then she ever appears. Despite not applying herself to magical studies she does speak two languages fluently in addition to understanding both world's governments, law, prose/poetry, the history of magic in Europe, ancient runes, as well as some magical theory and music. Hardly ever uses any of the more academic skills since they're 'embarrassing' or 'silly'. Did have a poem in Russian published a few years ago. 'Volunteered' for special assignment after punching out a Magical Law Enforcement Patrol agent upon her stressful arrival in England.
  • Attire: brown wool overcoat, blue long sleeved button up shirt, skirt apparently held up by leather belt, bike shorts, well worn pair of army boots

  • Spells
    • Alarte Ascendare (launches things into the air)
    • Expelliarmus (disarms an opponent)
    • Confringo (blasting charm)
    • Expellio Viscus (entrails expelling curse)

  • Abilities: Apparition, limited English, Speaks: Polish and Russian, muggle law enforcement training, skilled with the jaw harp

  • Equipment
    • Swiftstick (broom)
    • Wand
    • Floo powder
    • Assorted snacks
    • Fishing line, hook, selection of charmed artificial bait
