Sweet Vile! And that at least provides some hope. Though Capcom has a bad habit of getting you hyped and not living up to it.
Tell me about it. I remember they had a five minute long superbombastic trailer with tons of flying text and rock music touting the latest SSFIV costume pack.
Unless Legends 3 gets Uncancelled I'm still going to pout.
"NO! NOT A CHARGE SHOT!"
@ Flanker: If MMZ is any indication (the drama CDs, anyway), Sigma stretched himself too thin when he decided to migrate the moon. Whatever's left of him up there is practically harmless.

Personally, I just love X's (accidental?) "Oh god not you again" expression in the first screenshot. It's like he knows this is going to be one hell of a frustrating time for him.
Fingers crossed it'll get ported over here.
EDIT:
@X2X:
Oh well. It seems kind of a shame for a series tradition to kick the bucket, but canon is canon!

Locking you up on radar since '09That reminds me, where did Vile come from in X8, and why was he suddenly at MK V? What happened to Vile MK III and IV?
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Given that X and Zero are decidedly neutral when Vile V shows up, I'm assuming Mk. III and Mk. IV were encountered off-screen. And Sigma probably revived him, like he did in X3.

Sigma must really like the guy.
Which is funny because Vile seems to hate Sigma's guts.
Axl is all "who the hell is this guy" so I suspect Vile III and Vile IV appeared, got killed, appeared again, and got killed again between X6 and X7.
...How long was it between X6 and X7? Do we know?

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.No idea.
XX years.
There will be a Mega Man 9 style retraux taking place between X6 and X7. Both Viles will appear.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Vile is a silly
Alt account of Angeldog 2437.Hi Bookyangel2438; I see your current avatar in my apartment frequently. Thankfully, pillbugs are derpy creatures.

I feel kinda bad for them since they find no food in here and die.
FWIW I've only once seen them actually curl up into a ball.

Have we fought a "Rolling Pillbug" maverick yet?
No, but there was Armored Armadillo. How would a hypothetical pillbug Maverick be different from him?

Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.@Otherarrow:
Vile Mk III would be fought as a miniboss, whereas Vile Mk IV would be a boss in his own right
Also, thinking a little on that whole "NO! NOT A CHARGE SHOT!" thing... the games are kind of inconsistent about how powerful X's buster/charge shot actually is. Some times it seems to be a major threat (aforementioned scene and The Day of Σ) whereas it can also be portrayed as ineffectual. Admittedly, you can write it off as Cutscene Power to the Max/Cutscene Incompetence, but I find such an explanation unsatisfying.
I wonder just how powerful the charge shot/buster could get, anyway, assuming he was in a situation where he had no compunctions about turning up the juice*?
Locking you up on radar since '09I always thought Armadillos and Pillbugs where at least a different Phylum...
What would you guys think if a hypothetical X9 gave Zero the ability to do EX versions of learned skills that had more complex motions and required Weapon Energy, but were more powerful than the standard version in some way (like an EX uppercut being usable in midair)?
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle. They're not in the same species, but pillbugs are also known as "Armadillidiidae ".

Alt account of Angeldog 2437.I once made the joke that after you shock it, Armadillo becomes a Dillo.
ninja'd due to thunderstorm and power outage
Anyway, there has been a "Rolling Man" in the fangame Rokko Chan, but that robot master was built more like a gyroscope.

I have to agree with X2X and LDragon. I love Axl to bits and think he's a pretty worthy addition to the team (that, and he makes a nice contrast between the weary X and the distant Zero). But perhaps my perception is coloured by the fact that I've only played one game with him in it - Command Mission.
Also, I'm cool with the Classic series being open ended as Meophist said.
As for the scientist idea, it certainly sounds interesting, but I'd be incredibly disappointed if the Axl plothook wasn't a major part of proceedings and if Sigma didn't somehow pull a revival out of his ass and hijack the plot. Again.
Also, interesting news: Capcom's Christian Svensson says that Xover won't be the only Megaman treat in store for us, but things will really kick off around December, which is the Blue Bomber's "true" birthday. I hope this bodes well...
Some screenies of Vile in Project X Zone.
