I saw that bitcoins were hitting a massive plummet. It didn't happen all at once, so I was able to quickly sell all mine. Annnnd, good thing too, as I got myself a nice little $4,000 profit, and I plan to buy again on the dip, once it ends. The price has fallen by over 25% from three days ago!!

I've been making money on the side; just not as much as I would like. Nearly all my stocks are profitable, and I also sold Netflix as a dip was starting (made $2,000 profit there).

I see this as a way of trying to compensate for a job that pays quite a bit below the average for a male of my age group. Invest, invest, invest. Don't spend more than I need to (plus some indulgences). And make sure I make more money than I spend. I'm trying to pull myself up to a better position in life, since I otherwise feel stuck (don't feel like explaining now), so I'm doing what I can.

[up]Holy crap, that is awesome!! Congratulations!!

Christmas decorations are up, I don't work tomorrow, though I go in early on Tuesday, and I get my wisdom teeth out next Wednesday.

Stumbled upon some FullWiki yesterday. Only that doing this could be counted as plagiarism?

I was really lucky my phone spent most of the evening on the car charger (because I was driving from Austin to San Antonio and back), since I fell asleep without plugging it in for the night.

The guy I've had the longest friendship with in my entire life was beaten, tased, and arrested yesterday for filming the arrest of a neighboring teen and not giving up his phone to the police. The neighboring teen wasn't even the one police were looking for. He's been in the hospital since then with heart issues. The phone is now in police custody, with a deleted video both on his phone and in the cloud he automatically uploads to.

It's a damn disgrace. I pray to God that there is body cam footage of the event so that the officers involved are... oh who am I kidding. They'll get a slap on the wrist and be put on "administrative leave" and then the news cycle drops it like it never even happened.

This guy wouldn't hurt a fly. I can only assume that he was documenting police brutality on the teen because that's the kind of guy he is. My friend is not even a minority, and they still did this to him. I hope those crooked cops down in Fort Myers, FL lose their jobs. I hope for a lot of other, far nastier things upon them, but it won't change what happened. For either party involved.

Tolkien Otaku, that is so fucked up. Has your friend contacted a lawyer? There are people who provide free or cheap legal aid for cases like that. I hope for a good outcome for your friend, and a terrible outcome for the officers involved.

I had a bit of a family emergency today.

This morning, I got a call from the hospital. This happens often; all of the clinics I go to are on the hospital campus and come from the same number. I was a little surprised, since I don’t have an appointment coming up and I haven’t had any imaging lately. So, I answered, and heard someone say, “Is this Jenny?”

THAT IS NOT MY NAME

I’ve given the clinics I visit my legal name of Jennifer and my preferred name of Jen. But, yeah, we’ll go with Jenny for now.

She said, “This is [name] from [hospital] ER, your aunt told me to call…She tripped and fell this morning and was brought in by ambulance.”

Oh, Crap! But that explains the name thing. (¬_¬)

So began 3 hours in the ER and a loooong day for us. My elderly aunt has broken two fingers on her right hand, very badly, and will probably need surgery. She also has a cut on her head that needed stitches, but no concussion or anything. She had all her mental faculties about her, and used them to be sarcastic and rude to the nurses. ಠ_ಠ

She knows that I am capable enough and mature enough to handle taking care of her, and that I’ll do it since the bros either can’t (Dr. Twin Bro is busy being a resident at a hospital across the country) or won’t (Little Bro is notoriously unreliable, and probably would have fainted when he saw Aunt’s hand). So, as “the responsible one” of the two of us in town, it’s all me.

We took her home, I did a few things that she can’t do without her dominant hand, and told her that I’d be in touch tomorrow or Monday. I’ve broken my dominant hand. I know how much it sucks. I don’t know exactly what she’ll struggle with, but I’d like to help her out, and I’d like to do it on my terms: After work, on a day when I don’t have plans. Aunt is only going to get older, and while she’s in great health now (except for the injury), I’m thinking of the future and how to set boundaries with her while still being helpful and compassionate.

My sister and her husband (at least I think they have civil union, I can't tell) have had a messy discussion. I really feel bad for her, but sadly I have never learned to give advice in these cases. I'm terrible enough at looking for a girlfriend, after all.

I do know that it's his fault. His laziness makes it so my sister has to work extra hours for them to sustain each other. They're right now in Texas, so my mother and I are taking care of her house in the meantime.

A lot of people assume I go by "Pete", even when I've introduced myself as "Peter", but "Pete" is not my name. I have to have a particular kind of close relationship with someone to appreciate them calling me "Pete". I let almost everything pass though. There's a customer I serve who likes to call me "Peter Rabbit", which I had bad experiences with kids at school with, but I know he means it fondly, so I don't argue with him.

[up] Names are important. To forget or neglect to use someone's preferred name is to disregard a very basic, simple instruction. To remember to use it can do wonders for making a person feel listened to and respected.

I had one friend years ago who asked if he could call me Jenny. His reasoning? He's from Poland, was just learning English at the time, and to make the "Jen" sound without anything else at the end was really difficult for him. His mouth and tongue and brain still have a hard time with English phonemes. Of course I let him call me Jenny.

My aunt, after being asked to call me Jen; after seeing me sign my name as Jen on cards and gifts and notes; after hearing everyone else call me Jen; still reverts back to my childhood nickname of Jenny.

I remember that from the book How to Win Friends and Influence People. One of the pieces of advice it said was "A person's name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language."

In other news, today is a very happy day for me. It's the anniversary of when I joined my old guild in World of Warcraft, Arcane Destiny. :)

I'm actually really uncomfortable with my name. It's not because I don't like it, it's because it hijacks my attention or something. I don't like calling people by their name unless I'm trying to get their attention or specifically talk about someone within the group because of how I feel about names.

I am in the dentist/orthodontist office with my older bro.

Both of us are getting our wisdom teeth removed in the next few minutes!

On the plus side, now I don't have to work Black Friday or Broke Saturday.

On the minus side, no idea what's gonna occur.

Woo!

I only got one tooth extracted by a dentist. Never. Again. Since. >_<

Whenever I had a bad tooth (luckily, only twice more), I extracted them myself secretly, and took the resolution to take care of my mouth religiously.

I don't remember any pain from my wisdom teeth extraction. I just remember keeping up with the painkiller regimen and the weirdness of flushing the sockets out with a syringe after meals.

I remember waiting a few hours for my face to stop being numb and then eating some rye toast because why not.

I remember my mother having a migraine that morning and feeling worse than I did.

They normally put patients to sleep, but they just gave me local and gas because they were afraid of my sleep apnea, and I've always assumed that was why I had an easier time.
