In which we get updates from the lives of tropers. Kinda like Twitter with more than 140 characters, but less than a blog or LJ.
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.

“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”So I had the weirdest Web Walk on Thursday.
- Somebody asked who coined the term "nanite".
- I did not find the answer, but I found the software "Ninite", which updates a bunch of programs in the background so you don't have to.
- One of the programs it supports is Songbird, which is a Firefox-based music library player I tried back in the day but decided it was too unstable back then.
- Songbird is discontinued, but there's a more current fork called Nightingale (not officially abandoned, but I think the last release was 2014).
- Woah, look at all my crummy album art!
So I spent way too long on Thursday and several hours today going through and replacing all my album art with high quality images and doing other metadata cleanup. I did a lot of that back when I used iTunes, but iTunes keeps its own metadata and doesn't edit the file directly, so I lost all of that when I quit using it.
Now, having improved all my album art, I'm going through and trying to find all the tracks I know are broken. Some of the earliest items were poorly ripped and have glitches. The worst was almost every track from a Queen compilation scrambling bits of one song into the adjacent ones, but most of them were just small hiccups.
To do: copy my playlists from Google Play (I spent way too long trying to find a way to do that automatically, but that doesn't seem to be possible), delete and reupload my Play library, copy my playlists back into Play.
Fresh-eyed movie blogT Paradox we have the same attention span, don't we?
"If you spend all your heart / On something that has died / You are not alive and that can't be a life"@Kris: All's good on my end, except for having to evacuate my brother's wedding because of a fire.
Umi Sonoda? Since when were you a Love Live! fan?
@Parable: That's, uh, pretty significant. Sorry about your brother's wedding. Was it okay otherwise?
As for Love Live... it might be better to say I'm a fan of the game? Which I've been playing for about a year. I have watched the anime, but it's not anything I would have picked up on my own. It's not quite the type of thing I usually watch.
“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”So, I decided to rework a cosplay prop I made a few years ago. I'm thinking that a messed-up connection put too much drain on the battery, so I reworked one bit to draw current correctly, and simplified it by using a microcontroller instead of a bizarre tangle of transistors, 555 timers and capacitors that, go figure, didn't work properly.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisWe managed to find a church willing to host a wedding ceremony on an hour's notice, so in the end they still got married. All's well that ends well!
Never played the game. Watched the anime's first season all the way up until the second to last episode, after which I realized I didn't care for the story. I do have genuine fondness for Katori though. And I see enough art of Umi to remember her last name.
Hey, if at first you don't succeed, right?

@NSBL: So, does it work now, then? :o
@Parable: Good to hear! To be totally honest, I probably wouldn't have finished the anime if I hadn't gotten to know the characters through the game first, but by that time I was already invested. My love for rhythm games strikes again. Also yes, Kotori is wonderful.
Also, I feel called out by your icon. >_>

“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”You should! Every time you were were all "Hey, people! Choose my avatar!" and I was all, "Hmphing Haruhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii..." you'd go "NO SHUT UP PARABLE YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING!!" and I'd be all ";_:".
My reluctance to use Haruhi as my avatar probably has something to do with the fact that I never even finished that anime. But who knows? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Also, I was never that mean to you. :(

“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”I might have paraphrased.
Just maybe. You're so rude to me. Is this how you welcome back old-timers?
“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”Such rudeness, well I never!
-walks away bemoaning the decline of manners in today's modern world
New theme music also a boxOld-timer, my left foot. It's only been - Oh, my God, it's been seven years. Jeebus, where did that time go?
I know, right? The idea that I used this website at fifteen is terrifying to me. How did anyone tolerate me?
“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”The thought does frighten me, from time to time.
Also weird catching up with some of the old guard on twitter and seeing them, like... in college.
Kinda makes me feel old, I was hanging out with a bunch of damn children. To say nothing of the ones I was hitting on, ick.
...but it's been seven years, which makes them all fair game now...
月を見るたび思い出せThat's what she said.
Let me think, since I joined in '09 I've had four jobs, moved seven times, graduated from high school, went to, dropped out, and got back into college, was so broke I sold all my video games to keep the bank from charging me overdraft fees, had one failed relationship, went to AX three times, started working on making my place into a smart home, adopted my sister's dog, and as of two days ago have been in two weddings; one for my sister and one for my brother.
I mean, I'm technically still in college, but that's because I changed majors and added on two more years. Otherwise I would have been a Real Adult with a Real Job a year ago.
Oh my. That's quite an eventful few years.

“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”Word of advice, if you're going to be in a wedding, make sure you can afford to throw $200+ on clothes. I've spent more on suites for these two weddings in the last two months than I have on my regular clothes in the last seven years.
I'll keep that in mind. I'm supposed to be a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding, but said wedding probably isn't going to happen for a couple years, so I should have a pretty steady income by then.
“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”She's going to be engaged for a few years?
They've actually been engaged for a few years already. They know they want to spend their life together, but aren't in a position yet where they can afford a wedding, so they're waiting. I'm actually in the groom's party, technically speaking. Bit of a nonstandard wedding.

“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”That's a good reason. And not totally nonstandard, I was a groomsman for my sister's wedding too.
@Kris: Absolutely! There's no bigger stranger than someone who's your friend on social media.
