In which we get updates from the lives of tropers. Kinda like Twitter with more than 140 characters, but less than a blog or LJ.
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.

You want to read a bad novel? Read Monument 14.
Gah, I forgot to sleep again. Now I'll have to sleep in the middle of the day or be so tired I'll be falling asleep at Thanksgiving dinner.
Later updaters...

The worst novel I've read in my life was Artemis Fowl. I couldn't get past the first book.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300The worst novel I've read was called "Wings". It sounded good, but the main character was such a Mary Sue that I couldn't get past the first few pages.
ಠ_ಠI can think of some really trashy romance novels which weren't even good about establishing why the various characters in it wanted the main character, with one in particular standing out. It was basically a novel form of a harem anime, and while they do exist, they usually show each character well enough it's possible to get it. This one just felt like somebody had a few dreams about different men, wrote themselves as a Mary Sue with no general defining characteristics other than seemingly being a Purity Sue and a Shrinking Violet, and decided to have fun while writing it.

"Did you expect somebody else?"I try to make my hair non-fluffy, with varying degrees of success. Usually still looks like I'm wearing a haystack for a hat when I get out of the shower.
Non fluffy hair? Ha, never going to happen to me.
ಠ_ಠLate, but
@Greenmantle:
Nice vid, even if not much happened in it. I miss the Buccaneer and Javelin.
@Catfish:
Indeed! And wow, I haven't seen you around in forever. How's it going?
Locking you up on radar since '09Well I was trying to avoid reading bad novels, but wanted to make sure people hated books because they read them and they were bad, not because they hated the fandom so much they crusaded against it.
For example, people hate 1984 because they hate listening to people tell everyone how good it is.

I've started university recently... I feel I'm in a little over my head in some places, but overall it's going alright. What're you up to?
A different shape every step I take A different mind every step of the lineOne day, so many places traveled, kinda puts my mind in a blender.
Then my friends are gonna pick me up and to Helsinki for a gig of a friend we'll go.
Rest? What's that? There's that?
Yo!! Anyone up for watching Sharknado with a bunch of Tropers? We watch it online together and riff it in a chat room. We'll be showing it tomorrow night at 8 (PM EST) if anyone's up for it.

First time I've had my shower run out of water in this student house. I can only assume several people are showering or using the washing machine.
Hey, does anybody know any good colleges? I'm thinking about a good one to go to, but I'm just drawing a blank here.
Go to Harvard.
I hit a deer tonight. <:(
It ran right out in front of my car that I couldn't stop until after I hit it. it went rolling away several times in a way that reminded me of Goat Simulator, hopped a few times, rolled some more, than ran off with some other deer in some people's yards.
So I'm glad that I didn't outright kill it, but I may have shortened its life expectancy by a few months...

If your college search experience is like mine, schools will start sending you brochures in your sophomore year of high school, every relative you speak to will have an opinion, and you should consider things like how far away from home you want to be and what schools have a good reputation in the major you expect to take.
Fresh-eyed movie blogDepending on where you are, consider the cost. I don't know if your country has state-funded education, but if not, remember that you're going to be racking up a lot of debt. Especially in the US, getting a degree at one of the top schools runs in the six figures.
Good news: I've got more pages to proof-read for my part-time job! Woo, more money for Christmas!
Bad news: I've gotta have all 150 pages done in just over a week. Ach, less time for reading curriculum.
Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!Started watching Fate Zero. Cool show so far, but I don't think it's something I can easily marathon. On the one hand there's the episode length, and on the other hand I'd like to avoid depressing myself too much.
Baccano! has so much going on.
Reminds me of the time I found out Twilight still has 4.5 stars as a Novel rating despite having an increasingly large hatedom.
