Trying to get some discussion going here:
You people who are doing self-study, how are you doing it?
People out of school who are taking classes, where did you find said classes?
The child is father to the man —OedipusFinding materials to study from on the internet, mostly. And flashcards, lots of flashcards.
The lack of guidance can be quite frustrating, I don't think I'd recommend it if on can help it.
And that's how I ended up in the wardrobe. It Just Bugs Me!I look online, and it's always "... class! For a mere €400!" and I'm not $525 worth of interested. Or motivated.
The child is father to the man —OedipusLivemocha is a decent site for learning basic phrases and vocabulary, and it's build on a Free-to-Play model.
<><As an experiment, I tried to see what the old Anglo-Saxon months would be if we used them nowadays. Here are the results (though I cheated a little by borrowing a bit from Charlemagne's calendar):

- Febuary: Sunmonth
- March: Rhedamonth
- April: Eastermonth
- May: Milkingmonth
- June: Lithamonth
- July: Afterlitha
- August: Plantingmonth
- September: Harvestmonth
- October: Winterfilling
- November: Fogging
- December: Yulemonth

My AO3 profile. Let sleeping cats lie and be cute and calming.I can no longer search language partners on italki, so I circumvent it by using mylanguageexchange.com.

I'm currently reading the Smurfs and Tintin in their native languages. Though I understand most of it, some words are difficult to comprehend since I rarely speak the language. I want to learn Japanese and I bought a "how to" book while in the country. I have little motivation or need to learn it even if you disregard the pandemic.

Quick tip: Think of Indonesian grammar when it comes to describing words as backwards.
As in, noun first, then adjective. :v
artsy geek | any pronouns | "well, if you're hearing this, then chances are you've made a very poor career choice."Native language: Swedish
Speaks Fluently: Finnish and English, roughly on par with Swedish
I understand most Norwegian dialects very well and can communicate well enough by using Swedish, as my dialect is easier for them to understand than what is spoken in Sweden.
I've studied French and German, of which the latter is easier for me to speak. I've forgotten most of the French grammar and numbers, but I can grasp the context when hearing it. While my vocabulary is limited, I get by in shops on both languages.
There are loads of languages that I understand enough words from so I can piece together a rough context. These include: Japanese, Italian, Dutch, Estonian, Icelandic, Latin.
I would want to become fluent in all languages mentioned above, as well as be able to read Classical and Medieval Greek. I would also want to speak both Old Norse and Old English, well enough to quote ancient poetry like Benjamin Bagby does.
Seriously any german help I can get would be appreciated
