With Capcom's writers? Not very likely.
As far as storytelling goes, DMC 3 might be one of the better Capcom games in that area

I wouldn't call it a good script even by videogame standards but at least it IS fun and energetic and has a nice atmosphere, which a lot of videogames fail to do.
So how would you guys rank the female leads of the DMC games?
Yes, I know Capcom games aren't know for strong writing but they do make decent, if not great characters once in a while.
Starting with Trish. She sort of has an issue of not being well developed. I think they could have done something about her feeling affected by Mundus' abuse of his minions which fueled her joining Dante. Past that, she didn't have much going for her. Glad they avoided any romantic paths for her with Dante though.
Lucia is definitely a step in the right direction. She's the first playable female character in the franchise, had her own backstory that had nothing to do with the male lead, has a good relationship with another female character and a Devil Trigger which puts her on par with Dante in terms of power. Too bad she appeared in a game not so well liked.
Lady is the best of the three with a well written tragic backstory and being a human with excellent devil slating skills.

Lady is the best and her DMC 3 outfit is the best I love her bets waifu stronkest grill -
Ahem.
She cool and I hope she gets into Mahvel Infinite. I also enjoyed her gameplay in 4SE. It's hard not to love perhaps the only Badass Normal I can think of in the franchise. Shame she doesn't pass Bechdel which I think Lucia which annoys me because DMC 2 is not something I like. I suppose Trish could have more of a reason for siding with the Dant by being upset at Mundus' Bad Boss tendencies. I suppose I will have to use that as my fanon from now on, so thanks for that.
No mention of Kat? She was easily the best character in Donte's game. She had a much better arc, much better motives, much better development than Donte and Vorgil. Also she was helpful.
Of course, the real best DMC girl is Bayonetta.
You know it to be true.
Sorry I haven't played the DMC reboot so I can't comment on Kat. Guess I'll have to take your word for it
@ windleapord: Asuras Wrath is the best overall writing from a capcom game, and thats only because they outsourced to a company that actually does good story writing in their original properties (Cyber Connect 2).
Okami is the other one, but that's only because it doesn't try to be more then a Zelda clone in Japanese mythology.
Watch SymphogearThe writing in the Breath of Fire games was also OK from what I experienced.
Devil May Cry and Darkstalkers are the best written Capcom games, but that's not saying much. However, I'd go as far as to call DMC 3 in particular genuinely good and honestly one of the best VG stories out there.
I'd also give props to Asura's Wrath, but as Demongod stated, that was written by another studio.
I really can't agree that DMC 3 is anything special, even by the standards of video game stories.

Dangan Ronpa and Zero Escape shit on any capcom game in terms of story, but they are mystery series, so its obvious they are better by default.
Watch SymphogearWhile I will forever be thankful to Danganronpa for giving me my waifu, after reading some spoilers for V3 that's...really rather debatable. note
The twist is a brilliant Taro Yoko styled twist, IMO (They are friends, after all).
A Taro Yoko Directed Devil May Cry.
Now that would be a mind fuck.
Watch SymphogearI'm suffering from a bit of Hype Backlash in regards to Taro, so that comparison really doesn't instill me with hope (har har).
Story writing would be better then any DMC game, no doubt.
Watch SymphogearTo be honest, I don't really feel the absence of a compelling narrative really harmed the DMC games much. The compelling atmosphere in both 1 and 3 was honestly more than enough in that regard (haven't played 4).
4 has great varied environments, but they famously had dante go through those environments backwards.
Watch SymphogearWhile I'm not defending 4's story (or lack thereof), I took the "Dante goes back through and fights all the bosses agian" as a nod to the Mega Man games.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!My take on DMC having a story, is to make the actual plot very, very simple, and focus all effort onto the individual characters and their interactions. Especially since some of the best parts of the stories in any of the games are Dante playing off other characters.
With Taro Yoko, I don't think he'd fit the series. And given what i've seen of his opinions in interviews, he'd probably agree.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...Taro Yoko is more like a pre-Battlefront II Walt Williams in terms of themes and writing style, so I don't think he'd fit the series at all.
nobody mentioning the Ace Attorney series for the spot of the games by capcom with good writing ? Have yet to try a danganronpa or a zero escape, but I've been told they're at least on comparable levels.
Also, late to the party, but I second Kat being a really good character.
"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."The DMC games are great in atmosphere and memorable characters, but no gems in plot and script.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.So, I just bought Devil May Cry 4 this morning. This will be my first experience playing a game from the original series. My only experience with the series comes from the reboot game(which I liked). It'll be interesting to see how DMC 4 compares to the reboot.
That might be hard for certain gamers to do.
