I feel like Tony Stark needs a power that lets him tutor equipment. Perhaps even more than he needs a power that lets you equip it for cheaper.
"When ~ takes damage: search your library for an artifact equipment and put it in your hand."? Ha! An excuse for him to be more than 1/1.
So:
Tony Stark RU
Legendary Creature - Human Artificer
{T}: Equip target Equipment artifact.
When damage is dealt to ~: search your library for an artifact equipment, put it in your hand, then shuffle your library.
Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist.
1/1
I have trouble justifying the 2 attack, tho. EDIT: Changed the wording and attack. EDIT2:With the tutor ability, I now think he should be a 1/1. Risk/reward + forcing you to do shenanigans.

“You can’t be an important and life-changing presence for some people without also being a joke and embarrassment to others.” -Mark Manson."When damage is dealt to ~, X happens." Also, he could be a 1/2. Or he could just have a colorless-mana-and-tap ability, since that can be used at instant speed before he takes damage; I'm pretty sure Tony would rather have the armor on before he gets shot, rather than after.

i care but i'm restless, i'm here but i'm really gone, i'm wrong and i'm sorry, babyToo much Hearthstone. It warps my memory of MTG mechanics. I intended the tap ability to be very usful and tricksy. But it was the only ability he had then.

“You can’t be an important and life-changing presence for some people without also being a joke and embarrassment to others.” -Mark Manson.Lemme take a crack at this.
Tony Stark 3UR
Legendary Creature - Human Scientist
When Tony Stark enters the battlefield, put a colorless Equipment artifact token with "Equipped creature gets +3/+3 and has flying" and equip 4 on the battlefield attached to it.
1, T: Add 4 colorless mana to your mana pool. Spend this mana only to cast an artifact spell or pay an equip cost.
1/2
EDIT: Upped his casting cost since he's basically a 4/5 in the air and can be bounced and recast to make more Iron Man suits.
EDIT 2: Changed his second ability. EDIT 3: Then lowered the ability's cost by 1.
You do realize that he's long dead before his suit gets anywhere near him that way, right? :/ Also, lots of cards attach equipment as an ability, as a Gatherer search will show.

The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableYou know, I could buy Tony as a heroic UBR. It'd be a sort of reference to Mishra, and it would also allow the set to have another "not baby-eating evil" black legend. Well... not evil at all, really, just kind of a self-absorbed jackass who's pointed in more-or-less the right direction.
I thought about an alternate take on Tony Stark, here's what I put together:
Tony Stark UR
Legendary Creature - Human Artificer
When Tony Stark enters the battlefield, you may pay X. If you do, search your deck for an equipment artifact card with converted mana cost X or less and attach it to Tony Stark. Then shuffle your deck. Equipment attached to Tony Stark this way may not be attached to other creatures as long as you control Tony Stark.
1WU: Counter target spell that targets an Equipment attached to Tony Stark.

"I am Iron Man. The suit and I are one." - Tony Stark

That doesn't give him his suit until you make it, and also Tony can and has sent his suit, or at least a suit, to somebody else to protect them. Pretty sure he did that to Pepper in the third movie.
This is a dumb thing to say, but I like my take on him; he might not tutor, but he can build and he can send equipment to folks what could use it. He doesn't only build armor, after all.
He even builds his own suit IN A CAVE! WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!

i care but i'm restless, i'm here but i'm really gone, i'm wrong and i'm sorry, babyx5 Neat!
I dislike the idea of Tony coming in with a suit already. He always seemed to me as getting best results under pressure(tutoring on damage) and ingenuity(tap to equip) as his "super"-power. So I made my version be like an adrenaline-rush of a start that snowballs into something really strong.
And I see the Iron Man suit as a separate card that is strong and self suficient but costly. Hence:
Iron Man 6
Legendary Artifact - Equipment
Equiped creature gets +6/+6, Flying and Hexproof.
Equip 6
6:Iron Man becomes a 6/6 colorless artifact creature with Flying and Hexproof until end of turn.
I went for the feel that only Tony can use it "cheaply". And if you pay, it can kick ass itself, at a cost, but not as effectively without Tony in it.

“You can’t be an important and life-changing presence for some people without also being a joke and embarrassment to others.” -Mark Manson."Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist" = Blue, Black, Red, White?
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableMaybe so, but adding white would defeat the point of making him black, in my mind.
MTG has been pretty good about showing that white philosophies and creatures can be evil in various ways, but less so about black creatures who aren't horrendous. Even Sorin isn't monoblack, and the first thing he does in Tarkir is massacre a bunch of Temur and enslave one. I mean, I guess there are the Umezawas for non-puppy-eating black heroes, but that's about it.
So I'll work on an UBR interpretation, possibly with a pro-registration WUB version that focuses on equipping soldiers and detaining things.

I'm on an Ace Attorney kick at the moment, so I'm having trouble coming up with a Phoenix Wright card. So far all I know for sure is that he'd be Red White and he'd have defender. I want him to have some form of conditional overrun ability, you know for the big turn about, but I'm not sure what.
Orim, Samite Inquisitor 1WW
Legendary Creature - Human Cleric
Tap: Orim deals 1 damage to target nonwhite creature.

Leonardo de Montreal (1WUB)
Legendary Creature - Human Artificer

Whenever you cast an artifact spell, you may discard a card. If you do, that spell can't be countered.
Pay 3 life: Regenerate target artifact.
Fateful hour - If you have 5 or less life, ~ gets +2/+2, has flying, and is an Angel in addition to its other types.

Enchantment
Spells you cast that can't be countered have split second.
Final Spite - B
Instant
As an additional cost to cast ~, discard your hand, sacrifice all permanents you control, and pay any amount of life.
Copy target instant or sorcery spell X times, where X is the amount of life you paid to cast ~. Until the end phase, players can only cast spells or activate abilities anytime they could cast a sorcery.
I give everything so that you will have nothing.
That one still wouldn't work because "Target spell that can't be countered" is just the parameter of what your card can target (no different than, say, "counter target blue spell"), it doesn't actually overwrite said spell's "Can't be countered".
Exiling it, however...

That is absolutely insane. That plus almost any 1 mana burn spell is a turn two win.
