I'm just still harbouring some hope that maybe we get some good news. And each time Marq posts something irrelevant, I get kicked in the gut.
I was kidding.
We should post Negima Fate crossover pics to make Shlugo happy.
@Shlugo - Well, good to hear that at least it isn't the nads.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Well, I don't doubt Akamatsu 'will launch a new series in Spring 2013 as he promised. He already signed the contract with Kodansha, and money doesn't last forever. He probably could make a modest living on J-Comi alone, but it'd be a major step down after being an active manga superstar.
Now, I wouldn't ever buy that new series until he rescues Negima, because I'm not going to waste money and years of emotional investment on a series that ends badly again. Maybe checking the occasional scanlation for the art, but what's the point of getting involved if he has another scuffle with Kodansha and just kicks the whole thing down a well once more?
But I assume you'd check out the series after its end and it's been confirmed that it's all good?
Who knows. The man I am at that point might not even be the same man I am now, much like I am very different, geekdom-wise, from my self at 2005, when I had my first contact with Negima.
I would complain about how the Marq bashing is getting old no matter what the intentions are, but honestly I just can't be arsed to care anymore.
Although I don't visit this thread anymore I am still looking forward to whatever Akamatsu has planned for the spring, in case it really does turn out to be a Negima revival.
@NDC: A harsh way of putting it, but at the same time understandable. I would hope you'd at least check it out in case it had any promise, but if it hurts too much I'd understand you not bothering.

More news about Ken's new manga: http://mahora.tumblr.com/post/36885248042/meeting-with-akamatsu
Well that answers one question we all had: We now have confirmation that it's not Negima-related. It's apparently something completely new.
...I'd want to know the Exact Words, of course, before deciding how much to believe that. For example, could it be set in the same universe as Negima and Love Hina?
*waits to see if anybody is disappointed that it wasn't Marq so they could abuse him more*
Dammit. I was hoping for more Negima.
What was the result of his legal battle over the ownership rights to Negima?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.*shrug* Oh well.
I think the only way I'll really be interested in checking out this new series is if it drops all the harem crap as well as looking promising on its own.
So it not Negima continuation but a completely new manga?
Oh man, look at all the fucks I give:
[[quote:348:]]
Man, look at all that sand! You care so much!
Sand =/= fucks.
I don't mind it being a New Manga.
People should just get over how the series ended and let go of their Nerd Rage and just see what Ken Akamatsu has to come up with in his next series.
Watch SymphogearSo he can throw another bitch fit and cut it down because the publishers will be mean to him?
Sorry no.
Eh, I admit, I'm not too hot about it being a new series. Will want to at least see what it's about, though.
Recent events in my personal life, mostly related to my health, have reminded me of how stupid, petty and pointless it is to rage over the mechanics of fictional works and the lives of fictional characters.
So, while I share Shlugo's view and I don't want to get that involved with anything Akamatsu does again as I did with Negima, and while I think this is a giant middle finger to all of us who followed his work for years, only to be let down now he's got no reason to not continue Negima... I don't actually care anymore. I'll probbaly check his next work for the pretty pictures, but I don't want to hold bad blood over this anymore, mainly because there are far too many actually important things to worry about before this.
My life is pretty chill, so I can afford to get angry about such things.
Of course I'm weak, weak man so I'll probably check it out anyway.
I don't hold my breath though. He probably already used his best ideas.

That's kind of sad, if one thinks about it while exploring their fridge.
"All I'm saying is that I want to rip out the throat of a man from a completely different country all the way across the world because he wrote a story I didn't like."
"What am I doing with my life?"
Huh? I'm actually pretty happy that this is the worst thing that relates to me that I can currently think of. Yep, I have no bigger problems. Pretty good.
A few things of interest, though:
Good to see the man sticks to his guns and decisions so much, and his word is just so reliable after all. Flaky and unreliable, our Akamatsu? No siree.
Translation: "After making so much fuss about the digital medium being the future, I drop it all as soon as Kodansha waves a fresh steak before my face, and I run back to them wagging my tail."
...People really care? I thought we were mostly kidding.
