Well he better get around to it eventually, the senate needs a quick pwn for putting his mom though 2 years of hell, that urks me...

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!No, it needs a long, drawn-out, and humiliating pwn. Get it right.
Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.No no no. They need a long, drawn-out No-Holds-Barred Beatdown followed by extensive Imperial Inquisition-style Cold-Blooded Torture.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. No, they do not need that. "Long, drawn-out, and humiliating" at worst.
I vote for a beatdown, and then them being turned into ermines. That should do it.
Well, I would've preferred the WH 40 K Inquisition's style of dealing with such "traitors". For one, we won't have to worry about someone reversing their ermine-ification and thus their return to posing a credible threat somehow.
Perhaps just condemn them to death by firing squad? On public TV?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Nah, that's too dark for Negima. Just erminize them and chuck them all in a pocket dimension with only each other for company, then seal the thing off. Stick some cameras in there too. Mundus Magicus' hottest new reality show.
Reaction Image RepositoryHow about dropping them in same pit as Arika. They all beg for their lives and confess to everything. But Negi throws them in anyway.
Only for the sentiors to discover the monsters in the pit are actually Haruna's drawings and are fake. Their confession and their little screems get broadcasted around the magical world LIVE. Then they get locked up forever.
haha that one is good but still to get them there negi will have to probably raise an army or become a bigger hero than Nagi to even get close to them.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!I think it's almost a foregone conclusion Negi *will* end up becoming a bigger hero than Nagi. It's mostly a question of him being a 'dark' hero or a 'light' one after all, or something in between.
Somehow I see negi as more of the "hero that no one really knows about" everything that he has done so far important he has pretty much been Nagi. (for good reasons but still) the name Ala Alba might become huge though.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Negi IS famous in the future. It doesn't seem to be entirely positive fame, however. Chao refers to him as an esteemed ancestor or something along those lines, seems to hold his importance as at least on par with Nagi's and, the non positive bit, is surprised that he's a nice guy.
yet "Honored Ancestor" is a generic term in japanese for anyone they are related to. (IIRC) also technically it could be only in family stories... because something he did is completely screwing the future over.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!grr double post.... how do I keep doing that.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!So this is another way in which Negi is like Batman; he takes the crap for everything even though he saved the day.
But yeah, I see him deliberately giving somebody else the credit, for no other reason than he probably doesn't want all of that fame. So he ends up being one of those heroes that's in all of the books, but not in the public eye very much.

Reaction Image RepositoryThat sounds more like Spider-Man, actually. Batman is more like the urban legend no one but his closest allies and his enemies are really sure exists (most of the time, but Depending on the Writer). Then again, you could argue that other clause applies to Negi as well to some degree.
I was thinking specifically of the end of The Dark Knight. But yeah, the Spider-Man parallel also works.
Reaction Image RepositoryFortunately, unlike the (generally) loner and outcast in all levels Spider-Man, Negi has a closely knit Nakama at his side at almost all times.
^ not for lack of him trying to get away from them.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!But part of Negi's character growth is exactly learning he can't only protect them (either by running away from them or by shielding them at all times). Instead, they have to protect each other.
To walk alongside each other, not one behind the others. So to speak.
Arha: Do you know when and where Chao expressed surprise that Negi was such a Nice Guy? I'd be interested in re-reading that part.
I don't know the exact chapter, but it would be after Graf Wilhelm but before the tournament proper, so between chapter 80-100. After Negi helps Chao escape the teachers, she remarks to Hakase that she didn't expect him to be such a nice person.
found this on an Image Hunt◊ from the first anime series, adaption dye job at its best.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!@Japanese Teeth
"Because we have to chase him. Because he's the hero the magical world deserve, but not the one it needs right now. So the bad guys with good publicity will hunt him, but he can take it. Because he's a hero, the unknown prince, the white wings."
I was considering title drop but I dout it would have worked. Does anyone think they can remix the final lines of Dark Knight and make it work for Negima?
I'm pretty sure that "Ostia" is used as the name of both the kingdom and its capital city. I believe he current Ostia is the remaining section of the old capital city of Ostia, so technically it's the same place. "Old Ostia" is used to refer to ruined part of the city that was destroyed at the end of the war. So the Ostia that exists now is sort of the same city as "Old Ostia", but it's mostly been rebuilt. Sort of like the small part of Old Ostia that survived grew into a new city. Calling it "New Ostia" would also be correct, but I don't think that there's any official differentiation.
@Raso: well, Negi hardly has a personality befitting a conqueror. He's more of a "save the people from destruction and become king by mass acclaim" type of guy. There's also the issue that his mother hasn't been officially cleared yet, and he's technically a wanted criminal (although between Theodora, Kurt, Ricardo, and Takamichi, they could probably get him cleared), so there's probably all sorts of legal red tape in the way. There's also the fact that a ten-year-old with no experience in politics would probably not make the best leader. I'm sure he could figure it out eventually, but he has bigger things to worry about.
