If there's one thing I liked about Fallout 3 it's that delicious urban exploration.
Love me some blow'd up cities.
Oh really when? And those confusing subway tunnels. They were good.
Yeah, the urban areas in Fallout 3 were pretty good. If there were fewer invisible walls, I'd miss them more, though.
But all the other improvements in New Vegas (i.e everything) more than make up for it.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Can someone here familiar with modding help me out?
I've run into a very... weird bug. I'll be playing the game, and for the first few seconds everything works fine, but after a little bit, things go screwy. The Pip-Boy disappears (it becomes an error object), I can't open any containers/doors or talk to anyone, and I can't access the menu at all.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."I still hate Fallout 3 btw :P But I did decide to buy it from sale and try it out so nobody can question that :P
I did like how in beginning you had multiple choices in birthday party and first time you exit the vault you do have nice "Wow" moment, but after that... It becomes really like Elder Scrolls in quest and writing. Which I really hate since Fallout isn't supposed to be as badly written as ES games.
Also, they do far too many "Wacky SCIENCE!" things. Like nukelaunchers(DARN YOU BETHESDA FOR MAKING THOSE CANON) and GECK being actual miracle machine instead of just agriculture kit :P That made Fallout 2's ending far more idealistic when it wasn't a real miracle machine!
You're a man after my own heart.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Technically, it was real life that that invented the man portable nuke launcher.
Is it carried around like a rocket launcher? And does it shoot "mini" nukes?

Yup and yup. To both. Look up the Davy Crockett launcher.
Thats not carried and shot over shoulder, that is placed on ground and then launched And do they shoot mini nukes with mini mushroom clouds?

The basis for the Grenade Machinegun isn't man-portable in real life either.

You know what else isn't based in real life?
Lasers, robots, giant scorpions... there are some bits of silly that are perfectly okay. The Fat Man is one. It's not like everyone has one, and most people wouldn't even be able to use it anyway.
(So I guess no one has an answer to my problem? Damn.)
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."<_< Point wasn't "realism" point was "Ho ho, nuclear apocalypse wasteland! Let's make weapon that shoots nukes!" is pretty fricking silly and one example of "Wacky SCIENCE!" in the game. I mean, seriously, it does kinda lessen the impact of nukes' importance whe you can shoot cute little ones. And you can see exactly why Bethesda decided to add that to the game :P
Now Giant scorpsions on other hand, thats perfect kind of wackiness! Though seriously, giant bugs and stuff isn't that big thing unless you want all mutants look like stuff in more moden "serious" nuclear apocalypse games like Metro and Stalker.
Someone just brought up that they exists in real life and then I was like "Wait, no they don't" I wasn't saying they shouldn't be in the game because of realism

Davy, Davy Crockett, King of the... well, sub-kiloton nuclear warhead launchers.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Davy_Crockett_%28nuclear_device%29
And yeah, that's a reference to a fifty odd year old telly programme. Sue me.
Plus, yeah, cute, small mushroom cloud would be produced by the warhead going POP!!!
[Insert not sure if serious macro here] As tiny as in Fallout games?
edited 26th Apr '14 10:57:23 AM by SpookyMask
Well, kind of. There would have been a mushroom cloud after initiation of the warhead and it would have been many times smaller than the ones you see in photos of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki blasts. What you have to realise also is that the Fat Man launcher is an extrapolation of what would have happened in the Fallout timeline if things had progressed to their logical conclusion from the Davy Crockett. And also that the weapon in that universe was designed to be fired by a guy in Power Armor providing full NBC protection, (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical), which would make it being shoulder-fired at a reasonably distant target a more survivable prospect.
In-game, of course, the range of the Fat Man seems to have been minimized for "game balance" reasons, otherwise, so the game designers would say, no-one would use anything but Fat Man for ranged killing of Deathclaws and Super Mutants.
Which brings up back the point of "Why are we arguing about realism in game again when that isn't the problem?" Its still silly to have portable nuke launcher as what is basically just huge ass rocket launcher.
Next episode is Joshua Graham.
#IceBearForPresidentIs it entirely Fallout New Vegas related? Somewhat.
But god damn it I laughed too hard not to share this.
Oh really when?@Mukora: If you're still having problems try checking out the mod pages for some of the ones you added recently. It could be a incompatibility/load order thing. If that doesn't work make some backups and try unchecking (from the plugins bit of the NMM) the last few mods if that still doesn't work try unchecking them all and seeing if the problem persists.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?I'm having issues with launching the game now. It goes through the loading slides, and then I get to the NCR Ranger bit, but it won't display the menu selections. Sometimes, if I CTRL-ALT-Delete to get the Task Manager and then Alt-tag back to the game, it'll work. Turning off ALL mods (and addon content) seems to work great... but I was running the current mods and didn't add/change/delete anything recently before this started happening.
Shrug. Might be due for a total reinstall.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.Unless you can go through each addon and mod one-by-one to figure what's causing the problem.
Have you run FNV Edit, guys? That tool is pretty useful for finding mod incompatibilities. I can't link it because I have no idea how to do that on my phone yet, but a quick Google search for it will find it easily enough.
Making a merged patch with FNV Edit or a bashed patch with Wrye Bash will nearly ALWAYS fix CTD errors related to conflicting mods. If you're using more than a handful of mods, you NEED to be making and using merged patches or bashed patches.
The Project Nevada folks (same group responsible for FO 3's FO 3 Wanderers Edition) should have a whole series on installing, patching, and updating mods and fixing CTD errors, including a full basic walkthrough for installing and using FNV Edit.
You know it. Plus New Vegas is more stable in general but reasons, reasons...
