It's still the same thing he was talking about: super form being unavailable throughout the game and only featured during the True Final Boss, an aspect of the games which Sonic Colors was the first to avert for a long, long time.

He wasn't talking specifically about situations where Sonic was the only playable character, or at least he didn't say or imply he was.

He didn't. I did. In games in which Sonic is not the only playable character, it wouldn't really make a lot of sense to have SS playable on only some of the stages, now would it?

Ah, so you added a point yourself for the purpose of arguing against it? Fair enough.

So then, why begin with "not really" if you weren't actually addressing/countering what he was saying?

I was playing devil's advocate. That point I added seems to me to be part of the reason why SS isn't playable in many of the 3D games. It's just such a common reason it seems like a separate point.

Speaking of Sonic 2006; reportedly Sega originally did plan to have Super Sonic playable in normal levels. 'Twas one of many features that had to be cut in order to get the game out on schedule.

... yet another reason why that game sucks, and this game is awesome.

In Colors, the feature was completely plot-irrelevant and required the levels to be redesigned to accommodate it. Bearing that in mind, I don't see that it's self-evident from looking at Colors that it would be available.

I wouldn't say multiple playable characters are necessarily prohibitive; just treat it as an unlockable character largely equivalent to Sonic with no Story Mode. That wouldn't work in all the the games, but the ones with Sonic playable on all or most of the levels as other characters would do all right.

Also, to my knowledge, none of the post-SEGA-consoles handheld platformers had the feature, and it would be a much smaller step there. We're not just talking about 3D games, but any platformer since at least 2000, barring the two recent exceptions of which this is one.

So, in my opinion, the inclusion is newsworthy, and I think there are enough people who concur to render the point spoiler-worthy.

Text I feel is necessary to append to every post.

You know, having the other characters as a form of New Game Plus / Anotherside Another Story thing would be a good idea. Even if they just play through the exact same levels. If a characters ability makes a level too easy, well, it's justified as you already beat the level with the "default" character (Sonic) so it's not much different than a Cheat Code, except it's not a code and you need to earn it.

Or then beating the game as Sonic unlocks a Free Play mode, where you can play any level you want with whoever the fuck you feel like. Even Robotnik/Eggamn if you want.

[up]I've been waiting for a game like that, but it would have to remove cutscenes and or lower polygonal counts to fit that many characters in the disc's data, and making them DLC would have us be charged to use characters (no Sonic game yet has free DLC).

Is it odd that I haven't played a Sonic game in atleast 10 years (probably longer) and yet I love Sonic? Well I listen to the game music on You Tube but mostly I just watch cutscenes and a bulk of my knowledge or liking for characters comes from other media like the comics.

I finally got it. So far, I'm loving it. Like Sonic4, there's nothing I can really complain about. No stupid gimmicks, a lighthearted plot, perfect characterization, streamlined controls, Scenery Porn (oh yes)...love it. Might be my new favorite Sonic game.

I just noticed that due to the Wisp powers, by slowing down this game and adding a gun, this could've been similar to a possible new Vectorman game.

Vectorman was always pretty sweet. I won't lie, it would've been cool if his powers were more frequent.

Glad to see those two games getting the recognition they deserve, though I do agree that Cave Story probably deserved "Best Wii Ware Game" more than Sonic 4 did.

Vectorman should've been in All-Stars Racing. I'll gladly shell out $5 for him as a DLC racer.

Vectorman is his car.

He runs on radicalness.

And I think Cave Story probably deserved best Wiiware title.

The broken music in its original release may have hurt its popularity just a tad.

I still need to get my hands on 10.

Is it as much fun as 9 was? I loved how every weapon in 9 was just extremely useful.

We're off topic here.

Still, had a question: broken music? what's this now?
