As much as I like Hazama as a character, I realize doing his combos is going to drive me nuts because of their exact positioning shenanigans. I am switching my main to Tao.

Hazama is one of my favourite characters (in terms of story, personality, design and whatnot) but I can't use him for the life of me.

I've mained my other favourite character, Noel, since CT.

Estimated shipping time: 2-4 weeks.

I am trying to master Hakumen to no avail so far. I will press on though. I dunno but something about a Zombie-Cyborg-Samurai is kinda appealing, you dig?

Well, you've got to realize that he has a very fast counter move that's easy to pull off. It's a matter of realizing when you can use your ABSURDLY HUGE RANGE blade VS grabbing and countering to keep the other person off.

The thing about making witty signature lines is that it first needs to actually be witty.

I used to be able to main Hazama but eh, the CSII patch really changed him up. I would want to get used to those changes but eurgh, PS 3 broke down -shrug-

Here's a pretty interesting interveiw with the Producer, Toshimichi Mori.

So far it says:

  • The next Blaz Blue was originally set to wrap up the story but they thought that there were still too many loose ends.
  • Until the main story is over ASW has no plans for a crossover fighter. But Mori would love to do one with Trigun.
  • The series is about halfway through the main story.

SO I have been enjoying both games alot. I liked Calamity Trigger, despite almost having no clue about anything that was happening during any of the story bits (They felt more character driven) I found myself somewhat interested. Plus, Story Mode is one of the best organised I have seen in a fighting game (Mortal Kombat 9 had too many stupid fights and an Inflexible story).

And now I am onto Continum Shift. I Like how the narrative is MUCH better and the story is now coherent. Hazama is unique in that while I hate him with a passion, he's just so damn enjoyable to watch. I still wish that he dies a horrible, horrible death at the end of the Blaz Blue story. However, two issues I have:

  • I need to get used to the fact that Right Stick Specials are now gone. I am really clumsy at doing Distortion Motions. Also, they don't explain how to perform Distortion drives in Beginner's Mode.
  • THAT GODDAMN ANNOUNCER AUGH. I hate that nasally shrieking girl so much.

[up]For Distortion Drives, hold down either X or Y. You should see a gauge filling up below your health bar. X distortions are usually easier to hit with but lower-damage and more easily blockable, whilst Y distortions are harder to hit with but higher-damage and often unblockable, though this is by no means a hard-and-fast rule. To activate an Astral Finish, meanwhile, hold down both X and Y simultaneously. This is all explained in Tutorial Mode.

Also, remember that the Taunt button maxes your Heat Gauge to 100 once per round in most single-player modes. Very useful.

[up]Alright. Thanks.

BTW, I actually created an X-Ray Attack for Termui in the Mortal Kombat 9 thread, if anyone would like me to share it here.

I'd recommend that you don't use beginner mode. I mean, it's okay while playing through the story, maybe. But it's just annoying online, if you plan on faffing with the network mode.

And I also hate the default announcer. God damn. I got the Jin DLC announcer. Totally worth it. ._.

I got Continuum Shift II for PSP a couple weeks back, and so far I'm liking it a lot more than Calamity Trigger, which I rented and didn't care for at all. I like playing as pretty much every character except Hazama, because I find his attacks just awkward to use, and Rachel, who would be cool if her attacks did decent damage...I'm slowly warming up to Carl's interesting style. That said, I'm kind of annoyed that apparently there's going to be another update for the Vita with some new story lines, I guess? Hopefully they won't be required to make sense of the eventual third Blaz Blue, although to be honest I hope the third is the last, just because while I want to see how the story ends I don't like the series enough to keep buying loads more, frankly.

Anyways, in a third one, I hope Relius, Jubei, Phantom, and maybe Kokonoe are playable. Heck, maybe even Saya could be playable and be the final boss character for Arcade Mode or something. Plus, if Jubei and Phantom can be used, and the WMG about Phantom being Nine is correct, then all of the Six Heroes will then be playable in some form that way.

I don't really like Beginners Mode, it's just that I'm not used to the Right Stick Specials being gone. I have no idea why they removed them. I liked being able to pull of easy specials in Calamity Trigger and combine them with my normal moves. With them gone I have to re learn all the specials and combos, and how to string them together. The fact that I have to use the woefully fidgety Xbox 360 control stick does not help in the slightest.

I would like to download the Jin Announcer, except I am unwilling to pay 400 Points. Also, I blew all my current points on Rez HD.

So for Blaz Blue 3, I guess we will get Jubei and Relius as playable characters. I hope Valkenhylen, Platinum and Makoto are playable from the get go, and actually get their own stories.

[up]Hm... I wonder how they'll balance the Six Heroes. On one hand I wouldn't like to see their power level reduced for gameplay purposes even with the cliche 'holding back' justification but on the other hand they can't be strong enough to steamroll everyone else.

Perhaps it could be said that they were at the same level as the other characters but could achieve what they did in legend because they were played by Daigo or insert-whoever-the-top-player-in-Japan-is-right-now-because-I-stopped-keeping-track.

Well, Hakumen and Valkenhayn are playable and not overpowered, so I don't see how it would make a difference if it was Jubei, for example...

Well from what I hear, Valkenhylen, Platinum and Makoto will get their own story modes in BBCS 2 for the PS Vita.

As for the third game, they are definitely gonna put Jubei in, and I would like to see a playable Kokonoe and Torakaka as well.

Jubei got a Game-Breaking Injury in Continuum Shift, which should serve to balance him. As vfor Phantom/Nine... well, she's dead. That should help cover matters.

Not sure how Torakaka would be different enough from Taokaka in playstyle to warrant inclusion. Especially since Tao's story arc mostly centres around her equalling and surpassing the Kaka clan's former top warrior. Expecting our current Kaka to just Take a Level in Badass instead.

Seeing that Lambda was destroyed at the end of CS, I can expect Kokonoe to just lose patience and throw herself into the battle.

Wonder what role Nu's going to be playing? Given that Ragna's lifelink with her still seems to be functional.

As for Phantom/Nine... well, she's dead. That should help cover matters.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. If you're saying that's why Phantom can't be Nine...Phantom doesn't look all that alive anyways...And there's the whole time loop thing, which I don't fully understand, but hey, if it can mean Hakumen and Jin both exist at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if it means a character could be dead and also have a living form in some way.

At any rate, from what I understand, Relius uses Ignis to fight for him, so the difficulty with him, I imagine, would be making him different enough from Carl.

[up]No, I mean that being dead should nerf her sufficiently to maintain competitive balance. Just like Valkenhayn's getting a bit old, Terumi never takes anything seriously, and Hakumen is operating at about 40% capacity and keeps getting yanked around by arrogant, flat-chested tsunderes.

Regarding Relius, I wonder if he'll pull a Kokonoe? You know, having Ignis fight for him insterad of getting directly involved himself. As his perfected design, she should be enough to take on the other characters solo, and he doesn't strike me as a big fan of direct confrontation.

I call Calamity Trigger's Story Mode "Ragna the Bloodedge Vs The World". Continuum Shift is "Yukki Termui must Die!"
