So, Shinobu Mail is over. Fairly good arc, though I felt it started to drag towards the end
Well, onward to Koyomi and Kizu. And eventually Ougi Dark
Well, this is one of those stories where everything was resolved before the climax, and then everything just happened as expected. The last episode was just going through the motion, by design.
I'm a few episodes behind (just finished listening to Gaen's long-ass story) but damn, the Araragi doth protest too much. (Do I want to know why the BL cover is Kaiki x Episode? Or whichever order is the standard for seme x uke. It took me a moment to realise that was Episode, despite the "half-blood" in the title...)
Seeing Gaen on those..."other"...covers made me wonder about Gaen's physical description in the L Ns. Does she look like she does in the anime (i.e. as young as she dresses), or does she look like a middle-aged woman jarringly dressed in a teenage outfit? The wiki doesn't mention it, though it says "wherever Gaen appears, a swirl of rainbow clouds can be seen in the background" which is something I'd not noticed.
I wasn't expecting Gaen to run with the "Meme's sister" thing through the whole conversation...and apparently Shinobu bought it, or pretended to at least.
Also, I think the way Araragi envisioned Kanbaru and Shinobu's interactions is exactly how things would go between them...

LN's aren't all that big on physical descriptions anyway, tending to rely on the pictures they have. Gaen's design comes from the pictures in the books, so I doubt it's all that different.
I assume the porn had existing characters on the covers both because it was funny and because the series goes out of its way to avoid showing anyone but the main characters whenever possible.
What i don't understand from that is that apparantly Ararararagi never mentioned Gaen to her at all before they met?
That's a good question...perhaps the reason is that, if I'm not getting the timeline wrong, this takes place shortly after the Darkness arc, which is the first time Araragi meets Gaen at all (and Shinobu wasn't around at the time). So it's possible he hasn't had time to tell her yet...in fact, they might not have met between that arc and Araragi finding Shinobu at the playground.
True, there's the LN art to consider...though I suppose that shifts the question to whether it's a case of Generic Cuteness.
Although I'm confused, are we now at another break in the Monogatari animes or is SHAFT going to continue straight into Koyomimonogatari/Owarimonogatari part 2 in the next season? (I know Kizu is stated to be coming up...hopefully.)

The first Kizumonogatari movie airs in theaters on Friday while Koyomimonogatari will be airing via cellphone app in a week.
Koyomi's OP is Hanekawa themed?
Also, Arararagi's memory continues to be spectacularly terrible
Unrelated to Koyomimonogatari, I've now heard the full version of Decent Black; it's pretty glorious.
Should've checked the list. It's a reused OP—I remember the shots of her with the guitar. I want to say it was from Tsubasa Tiger? But it's not on Youtube so I can't be bothered to look.
ED is new, though.
It's Perfect Slumbers from Neko Black:Tsubasa Family, Tsubasa Tiger is Neko White.
Also the newest novel, Wazamonogatari, seems to have an arc for Shinobu, Hanekawa, and Karen so far.
Okay, this one doesn't seem plausible
Oh, so Kagenui knows about the Araragi harem. In the supremely unlikely event she ever joins it, she'll be terrifying.
Well, that was a hell of a way to end the season/book
So, Koyomi was kind of uneven and mostly pointless
I'm finding that, as much as I like this series, I'd prefer it to end sooner rather than later. Didn't really appreciate this
So, I just got around to watching Kizu part 1 (...finally). Wow, SHAFT really unleashed their SHAFT on this one. (Making the entire movie with that palette made my eyes hurt after a while, but I suppose it did manage to set a certain atmosphere.) At least the scene of Araragi saving Shinobu was pretty well done...the tension and emotion was built up nicely.
I don't recall if the book started with the cold open that this movie did, but I suppose it was effective, although rather draggy.
Also, 2ba3-nyannyan is the best email ever. (They seemed to have cranked up the moeblob factor on her expressions, too.) And I find it hilarious that when we hear a car crash during the part when Araragi meets Hanekawa, later when Araragi walks on there's an actual crashed car on the road.

Well, considering the lack of activity on this thread I'm not hoping for much, but since I don't really know anywhere better to ask, does anyone have a translation for Hanamonogatari's ED, Hanaato ~ Shirushi? I've been looking all over and the only translation I can find is the snippet of the song that plays on the English sub version's intro (which is weird in itself that they used the ED as the OP, but that's not exactly relevant.) It's one of my favourite songs from the whole anime, but my grasp of Japanese is... rudimentary to say the least. I actually tried my hand at translating what I could myself, but the less said about google translate's accuracy the better.
Though why I expect necro'ing a thread that hasn't seen new posts for over two months will work is another thing. As I say, dunno where better to look. It's weird that this one isn't translated. I know Hanamonogatari isn't exactly one of the most popular stories, but everything else has an English translation. And it's a pretty awesome song.
Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...The thread is inactive because there hasn't been much to talk about for a while, not because no one cares
But, yeah, doesn't look like anyone has translated the song
Yeah, sorry if I seemed to imply that nobody gives a damn. My wording could probably have been better.
Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...Okay, this is my first time in the forums so I want to know if this has been discussed. If so, can anybody just tell me what page it's in?
I'm curious as to the differences in how Koyomi is attracted to Senjougahara and Hanekawa? I mean, it's shown that he likes Senjougahara... but he also said he loved Hanekawa? (And that he even want to married Hachikuji whut)
I mean, among the harem they're the two people closest to Araragi and I've always wondered why Hitagi still sees Hanekawa as a threat romantically when Araragi practically vowed he's only date her?
So, yeah.I don't think that's been discussed in this thread, actually. The short answer, as I see it, is that Hanekawa is his ideal woman and Senjougahara is his girlfriend. He puts Hanekawa on a weird sort of pedestal where she's an untouchable perfect person who he's not worthy of. That said, if Senjougahara hadn't jumped in and asked him out, I think Araragi would have eventually gotten together with Hanekawa, and after what they went through together in Kizu I'm sure that's what Hanekawa expected to happen.
Which also means Senjougahara is right to feel vulnerable about their relationship. She has the first mover advantage, and Araragi has some vague sense of loyalty to her because of that, but it's not like that she can rely on that forever. She's pretty clearly his second choice, and she knows that.
And Hanekawa knows it too. She's just not making a move out of some mix of consideration and not considering herself girlfriend material.
Clarste: I don't think it's that simple. His refusal to go out with Hanekawa isn't just 'I don't think I can get her' but rather 'I refuse to go for her.' I don't entirely understand why not though. It's an attitude that only arose after her first incident when he realized she was more complicated and flawed than he realized, though he refused to really accept it.
That was the short answer. The long answer is much longer.
Owarimonogatari got picked up by Crunchyroll and drops tomorrow.
Kizu character. Tried to kill Shinobu and then Koyomi when he got in the way.
