It's petty until you see the legions of white fanart and white claims. When folks get so little representation, they tend to fiercely protect what they get.
Read my stories!Who's Kaladin?
A character from the book series The Stormlight Archive,an ongoing epic fantasy series by Brandon Sanderson
Read my stories! It's not the things like complaining about representation that bothers me. That I can live with. It's the fact that the mods of Tumblr do absolutely nothing about the people who harass, bully, and send anonymous death threats in the name of social justice.
They also don't deal with neo-nazi blogs, pedophilic blogs, etc. etc.
Read my stories! There are mods on tumblr?
Halper's Law: as the length of an online discussion of minority groups increases, the probability of "SJW" or variations being used = 1.Not that I know of. The site has a staff, but protecting people from assholes doesn't seem to be under their purview.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Well, not mods in the traditional sense (it's not a forum, after all), I'm using the wrong word.
Read my stories!Oddly enough, I've never actually seen any of the supposed neo-nazi blogs that are mentioned every time people bring up the bullying, doxxing, and harassing done by social justice blogs.
Even if they are real, bringing them up in this context seems like little more than a way to dodge the issue. "See, we don't have to worry about asshole behavior from us because these guys are so much worse!"
Making excuses for people being bullies and assholes is the absolute last thing we should be doing.

I've seen neo-nazi blogs and pedophile blogs. they are there and they are fucking creepy.
Read my stories!
That's not the point. The point is that people are far too quick to make excuses.
People need to stop pretending that Tumblr is a "safe space" for anything. Anonymous death threat asks, online harassment, and doxxing are so rampant on that site that I can't say in good conscience that it can truly be considered "safe" for anyone.
...I never said any of that. I was giving more information to the situation. I literally only said they weren't dealing with other issues either.
Read my stories!Whatever. I'm just tired of it all, really. I've been legitimately bullied by these rabid social justice types before, and I've seen others who have suffered even worse at their hands. After a certain point it stops being outrageous and just becomes depressing.
Please let this be the real deal: http://williamshatner.tumblr.com
Yeah, I listed that tumblr as 'weirdly specific', but I don't think it's petty really. If you think about it, there isn't some kind of limit on how many tumblogs can be in existence, so it's not as though they're 'wasting' a blog. It probably isn't even all that much effort *shrug*

Be not afraid...I think that the fact there are pedophile and neo-Nazi blogs (never seen pedophile but I have seen neo-Nazi), as well as the rampant bullying that happens with some of the social justice blogs, is part of the same problem namely: the staff are not enforcing there own policies.
Also all of those things clearly stop it from being a safe space.

They've been banning a couple art blogs with loli/shota stuff.
I hate to take the "it's better than nothing" stance, but it is better than nothing - and hopefully it means they'll do better than 'better than nothing' in the (very) near future.
It's certainly a step in the right direction :)
That's probably a far better way of putting it.
One of the few times I put something better then someone (but it was the gist of what you were saying -shrug-)
@Last page: Wait, there's a Tumblr called "Kaladin isn't white"? I mean, yeah, he isn't, but honestly that seems just so petty.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.
