...I think we may have different definitions of silly....

What's so silly about them?

I mean, Anieze's speech to Orsola, and the depiction of the churches, etc. are one of the things I like about the show.

Know what would be cool? Later on there will be loli witch doctors in grass skirts killing people with voodoo dolls. And then buddhists monks will start showing up, ones from Shaolin and starts kicking ass with martial arts...and then there will be many religion on religion wars, and Touma's harem somehow multiplies. And then some jewish girl will jump in and summon a golem...like that girl from the first season.

I think we must be using different definitions of good then. Would I be correct in thinking by good you mean entertaining? The points you're emphasizing seem to be more about Rule of Cool than anything about writing or whatever. I wouldn't deny that Index is fun to watch, but I don't know if I could really call it objectively good in the same way I could describe other series.

As for what's silly about them, Anieze's speech is over the top and hard to take seriously from a loli, the long speeches are a sign of poor pacing and the depiction of the churches is inaccurate enough to be funny.

You better elaborate. And yes...I watch entertainment to be entertained...if that's what you mean...no idea what you mean really...

Ah you see...heres where YMMV kicks in full force.

Anieze's speech doesn't sound all that over-the-top to me. You probably won't see too much christians talk like that in real life (except that fucker who threatened me that I'll go to hell painfully when I was 7 years old, and fundies), but this is fiction. And this show made an otherwise boring religion more interesting. I like lolis. And besides...it's Kugimiya Rie, it's like Louise if she was evil.

For me, making religion interesting and more entertaining is a plus if it makes for good story and action. And it's easy to follow.

You know what? It kinda reminds me of how religion is depicted in JRPGs. Where every religious figure knows white magic.
So if you consider Index to have these problems...what series, in your opinion, did whatever Index do wrong, right?

Though something tells me the answer is just one big YMMV anyways.

You can find objective quality in a work. The writing, pacing, setting, music, voice acting, art etc. Index does well at some of these and poorly at others. And other shows this season do it better. I consider Index an entertaining series, but not really a good one.

It didn't seem over the top to you? The four foot loli in six inch heels beating up poor, helpless Ursula, who is naturally saintlike? And then Touma, The Hero!, bursts in to save the day completely outnumbered?

And I wouldn't call Christianity boring, either. While I admit an accurate depiction wouldn't work in this kind of series, it's still simply funny.

eh...YMMV.<———-HA! I called it! You see?! I KNEW I was going to say YMMV to whatever your reply is going to be! cool

Anyways, for me, I like anime because of these elements you hate. It's drawn pictures. Its fiction. I like my works of fiction taking advantage of the fact that it's fiction. Same goes for video games.

So which one of those qualities that you thought Index did poorly in? I assume it's writing and pacing since the other ones were done really well...

So what anime this season does it better than Index?(and why? of course) Not sure where the "funny" part comes from...depictions of christianity is funny?

Index has pretty good production quality across the board. Most of the problems have to do with how absurd the story is.

^ This. It's not a very well written story. The production costs are good and the writing is bad. It ends up looking good while telling a poor story.

As for why Christianity's portrayal is funny, So Bad, It's Good.

Also, you seem to be under the impression that I don't like it because it's unrealistic. That's not the case. I like Hellsing and FSN just fine. I also like Index and its rather sketchy story. However, it's a pretty clearly flawed series and I don't think you can really say it's really good.

As for a series that does it better this season, I'd go with Ore Imo. I don't find it as amazing and awesome as many others do, but I certainly recognize that it tells a good story and has good production, voice acting etc. If you step away from the anime itself and look at the original source material, I'd also call The World God Only Knows better than Index. Not that the anime for that one is very good, but the original writing? Sure.

Yeah it's YMMV. Since those series did not make me want to watch them as much as Index does.

Just glad you didn't cite Ghost In The Shell as an example of an anime with better storyline. Oh wait, I forgot I said animes THIS season. oops. GITS is still worse than Index though. Maybe whatever the series is based on is better, or maybe I have to watch literally every single episode to even like it, but the anime did not entertain me.

Mmm, I'm not that big of a fan of it, but comparing it unfavorably to Index? Nope.

I can honestly say I like it less than Index, but I don't see any reason to compare them. They really don't have much in common.

Oh, I'm only talking about them interms of quality of storytelling and only that.

Not entire series vs. entire series. They're a bit too different to compare like that.

Season 1 had a drought of well-endowed females. I'm watching Season 2 in hopes that the new characters will correct that

So how's this one coming?

She's watching the proceedings. I don't think she appears in the novels likely to be animated this season but I could be wrong.

Well, if what you're looking for is non loli female characters or whatever instead of just Kanzaki, more characters are introduced.

If I remembered correctly, in the last season she only fought twice, against Touma when they first met, and Misha, and she beat neither of them. But since she's a saint...does that mean she's stronger than the guy with the afro? Forgot his name, but the current leader of Amakusa.

I might have forgotten some details and other instances she fought in. But so far, Stiyl look more impressive.

^^ She absolutely destroyed Touma. What fight were you watching? And Misha was an angel so it would be silly if she had won. Gabriel, in fact. Not dying instantly is enough, really.

Saints have been compared to walking nukes in series. Afro guy is absolutely nothing compared to her. Accelerator is the only other person on her real power tier, and he's a complete cheater.

Accelerator's name never made much sense. They live in a world of people with (fairly) average names. And then we have Accelerator.

Sure it's appropriate, but if we're going for appropriate, GOD would be much more fitting, no?

And yeah, Kanzaki pwned Touma. Curb-Stomp Battle doesn't do it justice, especially considering she actually did curbstomp him. Repeatedly. With a sword.
