I think it's less proof and more taking a (rather uncomfortable) joke that everyone kind of assumed was true and just running with it.
Now I'm curious what that joke was. Awaki's shota fixation?
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).sooo,any info on the next volume out?
Secret SignatureYes. The problem, I believe, was only that he linked to a manga hosting website when talking about it.
Huh. Fancy that.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Accelerator chapter 13 is out. Still in the fight scene. I wonder if we're going to find out if the zombie still has pyrokinesis.
That seems fast. Unless you'd only noticed two weeks ago that there was an update.
I'd pay a lot more attention to the Accelerator manga if it wasn't just about Accelerator beating people into little pieces. There's just not much to say. But now I kinda feel a bit bad, because you're obviously interested enough to talk about it but nobody else has anything to say either.
No, for some reason chapter 12 was two weeks late, but 13 was on time. Probably a translator's issue.
Anyway, I think they've been doing a pretty good job of not having it be "Accelerator beats up everyone." He's not even involved in the current fight.
And while I do wish there were more people interested in this, it is right in the middle of a fight scene. There's not much to say about it. "Yep, they're fighting. Oh look, that one guy died. Oh look, what's her name is being badass." That's why I was saying on 12 that a monthly serialization isn't the best format for an action series. It's just too slow a pace.
I'm just not interested enough in Accelerator as a character to read that.
i find the art style kinda weird here.
Secret SignatureI read the Accelerator manga, but it's hard to be invested when I only know two characters, and one of these two is particularly uninteresting.
The fanfiction thread has low-to-nonexistent traffic, so I figure I'd post this here. I didn't write it.
In Memoriam. It's a re-imagining of the Magical Index/Railgun universes with less of an "otaku-pandering" slant.
Translation: Index is more capable with her Grimoires, less "moe", there are Call-Forward's a plenty due to every protagonist living in the same city, and some more detailed and pragmatic interactions. And that's just the first three and a half chapters I've read. And the prose isn't half-bad.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Sold! Tossing it onto my pile of Raildex fanfics I totally need to read.
Disclaimer: it's actually pretty fantastic, and fixes a lot of issues I had with the original—albeit by "westernizing" a lot of it—but it's also not been updated since late May and may be Dead Fic.

It's a Fix Fic, I just don't like using that trope.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).What do you guys think of this character from the Accelerator manga called Seike? Her esper power is to control friction within a meter radius of herself. When she sets the friction of air to maximum, a 120 ton mecha couldn't move, and a bullet burned up while traveling through the air. When she sets the friction of the ground to zero, a vehicle spun out of control and she can slide along the ground like Alvida from One Piece. She's also strong enough to Neck Snap a man with her bare hands.
All in all, I think she's hardcore. Of course, Touma wouldn't be affected by her power, but what do you guys think would happen if she fought any of the main characters? Thanks to her power, Mikoto's Railgun wouldn't be able to hit her unless she used it with a very big piece of metal so it wouldn't burn up completely.
Sounds like a female counterpart of Accelerator. Overly versatile power that makes them seemingly invincible.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Honestly, Touma's the only one of the main characters I'd expect to have any trouble at all. First off, it's never really been consistent what Touma's hand will protect him from passively and what he actually has to block - if this character wanted to make the ground have no friction, I don't think it's obvious that he'd be able to just ignore it.
And even if his hand does prevent her power from working on him, she can still use it to give herself some mobility.
Ehhhhhhh...
As for the other main characters, if we're being consistent then Accelerator shouldn't have to care. He can just make motion powerful enough to overcome whatever friction he has to deal with, and seeing as he's survived atmospheric re-entry when launched from an orbiting cannon, as well as other instances with high temperatures completely unscathed, I think he can easily deal with the heat as well.
"Railgun" might be Mikoto's codename, but it's not a power she honestly uses very often. Most of what she does is electricity, and that sure doesn't have to care about friction (and while we're at it, I'm pretty sure none of the other Level 5's we've met should have a problem with her - Mugino has lasers, Misaki has mind control, the way I've been reading it I'm under the impression that Kakine can make stuff that breaks the laws of physics, and Gunha is... Gunha).
Hamazura's totally screwed, though.

I think Seike would be able to beat Kinuhata or Umidori, since their powers involve projectiles and physical attacks, and would be stopped by friction. She would probably lose against Kuroko or Awaki since her power wouldn't stop teleportation.
Mikoto would fry her. Even if her power could stop electricity somehow, that would just result in the air heating up, so she still fries. Same for Mugino. Kakine's attacks don't follow normal physics. Gunha might be unable to deal with it, but we don't really know what he does. Accelerator would stomp her and Misaki could just mind control her. Touma would win because he has plot power but any reasonable use of her power should result in him losing. That's forbidden in Index, of course, so he's fine.
I think Touma could legitimately beat her. It just depends on how his hand feels like working that day (which, to be fair, yes, is all over the place depending on what the plot requires).
But I can see arguments on both sides as to whether or not he'd be affected by her power, and it's not like she can futz with friction wherever she wants. Only in 1 meter around her.
One meter is longer than Touma's arm (a 6'2" tall man's arm is about 60 cm, and Touma is only about 5'5"). However, I'm sure that as long as Touma enters Seike's field with his right fist first, he'll be able to hit her. If he can hit her enough times, he'll win, but if she can grab him, he'll lose (since she's strong enough to Neck Snap a man with her bare hands).

is she built like the average Index girl?cause the Neck Snap might be from her friction powers.reduce the friction of the spine to 0 or whatever.

Accelerator chapter 12 is out.
I think the chapters are too short to really work for an action series. Everything takes too long, even ignoring the time between updates.
