Don't forget the fact that they make their wards dependent on them.

The kids with fairies will probably never get a job or anything either, because they never learned how to take care of things for themselves.
Cosmo is a fun guy, but I wouldn't let him babysit my kids.

Agreed. I read somewhere that kids who only kept their faires for a short amount of time were the lucky ones. I agree.
Well then Timmy's going to be wrecked because in one of the specials it showed that he kept them until he was like 20.
You've got to remember that Timmy is the odd one out. Nobody else keeps their fairies as long as he does. That was also in one of his specials: He had them a year, and that was considered outrageously long.
I think the system just isn't designed for people who can keep their fairies. Why else wouldn't someone wish their fairies invisible, and why can't they just wish that no one would notice anything their fairies ever do? Boom—fairies forever.
Still we learned early on that you lose your fairies when you become an adult, so if Timmy still has them at 20, he's a 20-year-old kid. As long as he acts like a kid and keeps his fairies hidden, he can keep them. So Timmy is screwed. (Or he would be, but he doesn't age.)

Everyone Has An Important Job To DoOddly enough, there is a live action movie that will pretty much follow up on this point.

LIVE ACTION MOVIE!?!?!?!?!?! WAAAAAAAAAAA!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?
Well, not as surprising as that live action Monopoly movie.
It's enough to make me LOL... out loud. When I'm depressed I like to cut myself... another slice of cheesecake.
They believe they're giving victims of unhappy childhoods a way out, but what they actually do is severely cripple their development by Laser-Guided Amnesia-ing away even their mundane experiences after it's over. For evidence see the relevant entry in Growing Up Sucks.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe.
