Well, I don't like horror, so you have acclaimed Fullmetal Alchemist and hotly-debated Kill la Kill for different kinds of action. Haven't watched much Giant Mecha either to suggest you something. There's DBZ, but growing up, maybe DBZ isn't actually good.

From what I understand, ATLA was animated in Asia and in the style of anime, but not from Japan itself, technically making it Western Animation.
