I dont know anything honestly but I find it easier to learn the essentials on paper and pencil
A ONE, A TWO...A ONE-TWO-THREE ONE! DON'T SHIRK WORK! TWO! RUN AWAY AND PAY! THREE! SMILES GO FOR MILES!Heya.
Primarily a writer, but I also started to dabble myself with drawing as well. I haven't been drawing since elementary school so it got very rusty, but it's good to see myself improving. So far I'm focusing on drawing people, and so far I'm having a lot of trouble with hair and faces. XD
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I'm a month into my two year art degree and proportions are incredibly difficult. I mean, they should be as this is the first time I've started formally learning. But still. Whenever I am frustrated I whip out a drawing something like this one where I intentionally throw proportions out the window.
You should expect to struggle with it for a while longer. I've been drawing for like 10 years and my general sense of proportion is much better now, but I still find myself making mistakes pretty often.
You just have to put in a lot of time.
So I got myself a tablet a few weeks ago. I still can't create smooth lines.
Here's some attempts at perspective:
From above: I had to trace this one after some failed attempts.

I think this one came out rather nice http://mrglassesman.deviantart.com/art/market-street-617533085
I think the main problem is the shape of the apples. idk what angle you were drawing from, but they look off.
When I was drawing them, the apples were on my left and I was facing straightforward. I don't know if that had anything do that (maybe the chalk pastels fudged the shape or I just drew it wrong to begin with)
I think I messed up the shadows too..
Macron's notesI think the positioning may be off - the perspective seems to be looking down and the apple on the right is in front, but the base is also higher up on the page.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableAimlessly doodling late at night and then this lady showed up.
Your painting/color choice isn't bad. My main advice would be to spend more time figure drawing since I think that is a sticking point in most of your work.
This is the first thing I've actually finished in ages because I had big exams all last year, but I'm really proud of it.
A question, though: what ethnicity would you guess he is? I keep running into problems where characters I draw end up looking like they belong to a different race than intended.
'All shall love me and despar!'Forgot about this place, wow.
Little deer skull◊ I did in January. I colored it with Tombow markers, which are water-based.

Criticism is always welcome and highly suggested, since it helps improve my art.
She/they. Hirrus Clutumnus is my comfort character
But on seconds thought all this iPad stylus deal... is quite a headache.
I rather stick with a mechanical pencil in the mean time
Forgiveness is beyond justice, faith is superior than hope, redemption is better than perfection and love is greater than them all.
