Though the answer would be "yes".
Feedback Of Heteronormative Gender Stereotypes in AnimeI see that Knight Templar Akainu is setting between the other 2 Admirals.
He has a flower on his suit and a tropical shirt.

I'm almost frustrated that Akainu's face is still covered by that durn ballcap! Come on, let's see what Japanese actor he's based on already!
Do you guys think Akainu has a special devil fruit power? If so, what do you think it could be?
Myself I'm holding out for the possibility of him being a Badass Normal with some kind of incredible haki or something.
Feedback Of Heteronormative Gender Stereotypes in AnimeI think he'll be another Logia user. Although I'm wondering what would be a good match for red since fire is already taken.
Out of all the Marines the one I'm looking forward the most in regards to combat is Sengoku. We all know he's going to be overpowered.
Blood, or maybe lava?
Feedback Of Heteronormative Gender Stereotypes in AnimeI think unless Oda goes out of his way to not use the power's full potential then a Blood Logia might be a bit graphic for a manga like OP.
Edit: Someone on AP suggested Akainu might be some sort of plant Logia. Based on the rose on his suit and flower pattern on his shirt.

Luffy is the son of Dragon. However, Ace is the son of Roger. Ace's mother died in childbirth. We don't know about Luffy's. Luffy and Ace have no known blood relation beyond whatever significance the D provides.
Mihawk was introduced in the Baratie arc, though only later revealed to be a Warlord of the Sea, when Jinbei was first mentioned by name. Crocodile was mentioned in Little Garden but not formally introduced until Alabasta began. Blackbeard, Bartholomew Kuma and Donquixote Doflamingo were introduced at the tail end of the Jaya arc. Gecko Moria was the Big Bad for Thriller Bark. Boa Hancock received a mention at the end of Thriller Bark and got her formal introduction in Amazon Lily. Finally Jinbei made his first appearance more than four or five hundred chapters after his initial mention during Impel Down.

I think this was the bit I was aiming for. Any chance you (or somebody else) could find a link for the specific chapter/s relevant?

I just realized the lyrics to the (english dub of the) fourth opening are incredibly fitting as a pseudo-eulogy to Mr. 2 Bon Kurei. Thoughts?

The sad, REAL American dichotomySabbo, you'd be looking for chapter 234. http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/234/02/
(Warning, the names are very badly translated/transliterated due to this being fan-made before the English spellings were settled on - Donflamingo's name is hilariously mangled.)
Or, alternately, episode 151.
I find it suspicious Oda emphasized how Akainu was the one who heard Whitebeard coming out of the 3 Admirals in the new chapter.
A hint at his powers?

This was the best fucking chapter of the best fucking manga I've ever read and the fact that this thread is so empty reflects poorly on Tropers.
I had that "What Shall We Die For?" song from Pirates of the Caribbean singing through my head as I read this. It's so epic.
Feedback Of Heteronormative Gender Stereotypes in AnimeShit is about to go down. I wanna see a huge battle. Whitebeard is quite the GAR father.
oh god this is getting so awesome I might explode at any moment
Say, could that be Lola's mother among Whitebeard's allies?
Haha, Cope, it sure looks like it now that you mentioned it!
Feedback Of Heteronormative Gender Stereotypes in Animeahahaha, I just noticed that One Manga's translation changed Whitebeard's words at the end of chapter 551 from "My son had better be in one piece" to "My beloved son had better be safe and sound". I bet everyone was saying "OMG ACE IS ONE PIECE!"
That would actually make sense!!! You just figured out One Piece!! Did we beat 4chan at it?
'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?The One Piece is actually Luffy's hat.
Whitebeard is an incredible badass, and I am looking forward to the next chapter when shit gets real.
Feedback Of Heteronormative Gender Stereotypes in AnimeDrat, a flashback chapter? Should've expected that. At least it was pretty condensed.
....but omigawd, that last page....
Holy crap, this thread is still active? I was just about to bump it (really) because shit has most definitely hit the fan. Sorry for abandoning the helm.
The chapter was epic as expected and lived up the hype the last two chapters created. I admit, I was a little disappointed when Whitebeard is revealed to be a devil fruit eater because I was expecting him to be devil fruit-less like Shanks but I quickly got over it.

Whitebeard pounding cracks in the air was awesome as hell.
Feedback Of Heteronormative Gender Stereotypes in AnimePersonally I find One Piece to be the best of the popular shounen manga series out there. The pacing is just better than your average fare, the action is intense, the jokes are hilarious, the sad parts are touching, and there aren't any characters that I truly dislike.
[insert witty remark here]I'm still waiting for Whitebeard to throw his mustache like a boomerang.
That is Irrelevant to the plot...
