If they were truly concern for her well-being someone would have visited, or asked Asami how Korra was doing. Korra writing to them was apparently good enough so they didn't have concerns.

Come on guys, What Could Possibly Go Wrong? if the Avatar waltzed up to a podium and announced to the world that she might be permanently broken - physically, mentally, and spiritually - and that she may be doubting the purpose and necessity of her existence?

She constantly wrote to her father and where she was so he wouldn't need to worry and constantly inform everyone where she was so everybody wouldn't worry she lied sure but she was still being considerate. That's a lie to say she didn't tell anyone.

She didn't tell anyone the truth (except those spirits, so, shrug, guess I'm wrong). She told them she was okay, I suppose that is considerate, as much as this counts once they inevitably realize she's missing and there aren't any known sightings of her, and the last time they saw her she was alone and weaker than normal.

And you clearly forgot that the reason she didn't go to Republic City was because she was constantly being hunted down and scared off by her dark counterpoint (If it's real anyway). She ended it up in underground tournament not to get her "grove back" but to confront a source that's been stalking her for quite while

I'll give you this one, because I rewatched that part, and the Dark Avatar does appear in front of Republic City. I didn't see that before. Though her entire journey was for the sake of getting her groove back reconnecting with Raava (and obviously her bending needed some work).

Come on guys, what could possibly go wrong if the Avatar waltzed up to a podium and announced to the world that she might be permanently broken - physically, mentally, and spiritually - and that she may be doubting the purpose and necessity of her existence?

[up]The Avatar doesn't have to go up to a podium and tell the world that she's having an existential crisis. But going off the grid (the Toph, anyway) for six months isn't much better.

Selfish has very negative connotations beyond 'taking actions to benefit herself'. I agree that Korra is putting her needs before the needs of the people who love her, but just labelling her selfish and rebellious is... reductive, I suppose? It dismisses what's she's going through and implies she's actively and maliciously hurting others for her own benefit.

I thought it seemed pretty clear that Korra felt at that point that she wasn't needed by the world at large. Three years of relative peace with other people taking care of whatever issues crop up might have given her that inkling, no?

Relative peace may not be entirely accurate given the state of the Earth Kingdom the past three years, but everyone kept telling Korra not to worry because Kuvira had that handled. I'm sure everyone is very pleased with their judgment there.

Wouldn't call them vigilantes given that there are no laws against them, from the looks of things.

I remember back during the end of season 2 we discussed the possibility of a Korra fighting game. At the time I don't think we had enough characters to make it work but now we probably do. If Platinum's game does well I hope they make one of those. My only concern is that there wouldn't be that many characters using fire and air while water and earth would have tons.

Make it cross-franchise. For air you get Aang, Korra, Tenzin, Jinora, Kai and Zaheer. That's plenty.

That's one idea. I didn't think of it at the time but if it was strictly Korra characters they could have more minor characters like Opal, Bumi, Ikki, and Meelo along with Korra, Tenzin, Jinora, Kai, and Zaheer. That's plenty. It wouldn't fix the firebender problem though. Correct me if I'm wrong but Mako, P' Li, Zuko, and Zolt are the only characters with names that they could include.

Chapter 1 of the game

And already there are inconsistencies to the show.

For starters, bending does jack shit to spirits, let alone dark spirits.

And in the probending section, Korra can reflect earth disks and fireballs back at her opponents. But remember in order to do that, you need to earth/firebend and Korra is suppose to be locked with waterbending. So she's cheating and getting away with it.[lol]

So far the accurate things are Mako and Bolin being inept and probending always to come to one vs three with the solo player somehow winning. Which just devalues of the meaning of team in Team Avatar [lol]

@oppyu: I did say "relative" peace—certainly far more peace there than the events that led to the situation up until this point. And I also said "with other people taking care of whatever issues crop up", cf. Kuvira and Airbenders.

IGN:

That's putting it lightly.

Looking at the faithful art style of this Legend of Korra game, which comes from reputable developer Platinum, the optimist in me had high hopes that it would make good use of the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe and its awesome elemental-infused martial-arts superpowers. It turns out to be much closer to what my inner cynic expected: a poorly made tie-in that can’t even stand up as a competent third-person action game, much less something I could recommend to a fan of the show. What a disappointment

Ouch.

Enemy variety isn’t terrible, but their baffling lack of resistances or vulnerabilities to any specific element means you almost never have to vary your attacks.

...see, now that's Gameplay and Story Integration there, and I like that. Nobody is immune to anything, an earthbender can and will be pulverized by a lucky shot from another earthbender. Korra's the Avatar, and she's facing largely non-benders (Equalists are the main villains, yes?). Plus there's mecha tanks in the event you needed tougher enemies. Color-coded bad guys who cockblock certain combos and shield-carrying bad guys piss me off most of the time. I especially hate the video game that came up with the idea for mooks to carry shields.

What’s more, there’s no incentive to mix things up to create multiple-element combos. That seems like a waste, given that you’re the Avatar..

Another unfortunate point. Korra sticks to fire most of the time, and later fire and air.

[[quoteblock]]Perhaps the most offensive part about The Legend of Korra: The Game is that, as a fan of the show, I could barely detect a hint of the wit and charm that makes its characters endearing. That’s partially because there essentially is no writing - just short, repetitive bursts of uncharacteristic and unimaginative smack-talk - and partially because Korra is effectively the only character who appears at all. A completely unanimated and badly voice-impersonated Jinora floats around giving advice on how to unlock your powers; Sidekicks Mako and Bolin show up for literally 15 seconds in an early cutscene before being knocked off screen and out of the game; Iroh has two lines of dialogue that repeat every time you visit the item store; Tenzin, Asami, Lin, Meelo, Ikki, Bumi, and the rest are complete no-shows. In fact, even the cutscenes are poor – they look to be animated at about 10 frames per second and feel slightly off-model. It’s embarrassing.

But that's pretty unforgivable.

Tenzin, Asami, and Lin aren't in the game?

What the flying fuck?

The mark of true fandom: nitpicking at little things while saying nothing about positives

If that was aimed at me, there isn't exactly much I can say about the story (it's only the first chpater) or the gameplay (cause I'm not the one playing it)

And so far the gameplay isn't mashing up to the story. In Chapter 2, despite losing her bending, Korra is able to break a big ass rock wall with ease as shown in 5:10 in this vid.

I'll give it this though, at least Korra isn't depressed when she lost her bending this time.

Amon, Yakone, and Tarrlok shouldn't be playable, or at least not tournament-legal (if there's an energy meter, I'll rip my hair out - that's not how bending works).

Hiroshi feels like a Lethal Joke Character. Madscientist dad in a mechatank, in a game full of martial artists and spirits.

Generic Dark Spirit and Dai Li aren't very appealing options, Dark Avatar Korra would basically be Korra, but palette swapped (probably pre-order DLC also). You'd have fun coming up with a movelist for P'Li.

The rest work fine.

I just thought of some other characters they could have. Okay, for a fighting game roster I'd go with:

  • Avatars: Korra, Aang, Wan
  • Airbenders: Tenzin, Zaheer, Jinora, Kai, Bumi, Opal
  • Waterbenders: Amon, Unalaq, Eska and Desna, Kya, Tonraq, Ming-hua
  • Earthbenders: Bolin, Lin, Su, Ghazan, Kuvira, Toph
  • Firebenders: Mako, General Iroh, P' Li, Zuko
  • Nonbenders: Asami, Lieutenant, Varrick and Zhu Li
  • Spirits: Aye Aye, Vaatu, Hundun

I'm actually finding the game to be plenty fun.

Jinora has an aggressively forward voice when she first appears for some reason.

Though I don't particularly mind we didn't get much Sokka out of this series, I'm sort of surprised they went that route. If you could, what would you have liked to find out about his life. Think of something that could have also been beneficial to the story, preferably.
