I don't consider Sokka's actions in Season 2 to be sexists since it was more Overcompensation because is last girlfriend died.
He was probably afraid Suki would turn into the Sun if he didn't watch out. Then, on his third relationship, he'd be terrified that his new girlfriend might turn into the Alpha Centauri.
The thing that actually annoyed me most about "The Headband"—which I would've felt neutrally indifferent about otherwise—was the line, "Dancing is not conducive to learning."
I know they were going for the whole "oppressive government = no fun" thing, but that was still silly. I mean, I'm not much of a dancer myself but even I know that some form of dancing was integrated in many education systems all over the world, both in the past and in the present. Reasons for the inclusion range from cultural importance, physical development, or as a team-building activity. Hell, North Korea uses mass youth dance numbers both as Bread and Circuses exercise and as a means to teach mass-conformity.
The line just came off as cartoonishly petty villainy.

I have to admit I've never seen the first half of Book 3. I watched the Day of the Black Sun 2-partner.

The Beach was spectacular, and Sokka's Master was a pretty good episode with what I agree with Doug was a pretty awful premise - finally addressing how utterly worthless of The Load Sokka has been this entire time; solving a "problem" that never existed in the first place.

I think there's some Fridge Brilliance in it. It shows just how far the Fire Nation has gotten from their roots, considering one of the oldest forms of firebending is called the Dancing Dragon.

To be fair, though, I think the only person who ever thought Sokka was useless in "Sokka's Master" was Sokka himself.
ATLA is also a show for kids, and organisational skills will likely appear as less useful than fighting skills to them. So an episode explaining why being an average warrior in a cast of awesome warriors is not a bad thing per se.
It's just that older viewers are really used to see this problematic adressed in works of fiction, so that may seem obvious to them.

I actually like the first half of Book 3. Not as much as the latter halves of 2 and 3, but I've always had a soft spot for the lighter episodes.

Regarding the Beifong family tree, Suyin actually has five kids. So clearly we can't trust a thing that family tree says and Azula is still the father.
