This is what happens when you put several different works of the same brand into production and split up the original team in each one of these vĂ¡rios works.
The quality tends to suffer, particularly when there is nobody around to supervise.
"Please crush me with your heels Esdeath-sama!I've read somewhere that of all the 5 or so writers in Arena, only one at most came back for Ultimax.
Dressed to Kill.I love Ultimax what are all you guys talking about.?
"Love, love will tear us apart, again."opinyuns
Handsome Rob confirmed for Law scum.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.......
Well, I do think Law doesn't get treated as well as Chaos.
I mean, I've heard the Shin Megami Tensei II flat out treated the Chaos route as a happy end (if I've heard wrong, feel free to let me know), and as I've said before I've never been a fan of God Is Evil, and hate that after making him a little more ambiguous in Devil Survivor, they went back to it in Overclocked.
To say nothing of the fact that Law has very few sympathetic characters, while I think Chaos over all just looks better, even if they've recently started putting effort into showing why it's an equally bad choice.
.......So this is me taking a joke statement too seriously. Time for the funnies.
YEEEEEEHAAAAAAWWWWWWW LAAAAAAAAWWWWWW!!!!!
Rules rule!!!!!!
One Strip! One Strip! In exchange Law tends to have the better music.
It all evens out.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.I've heard accusations of pro-Chaos Manipulative Editing in the fan translations of SMTI and II so who knows.
ive heard pretty much all endings are happy in smt2 because god is dead in all of them.
And from what I've heard it the fan translation just made them sound incompetent instead of actually better.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.in regards to smt1 at least.
they went from malevolent to just kinda being bullies who suck at being anything but useless iirc.
I would consider being a weak leader less morally bad than a being a malevolent one myself, even if it doesn't exactly count as "good".
Well, technically all the endings to SMTII are positive, but Law is bitter sweet, what with Satan dying and the whole "bulk of humanity got killed with the Megido Cannon" thing.
Neutral is surprisingly empty, with no major characters (or even identifable minor characters) showing up.
Chaos is blatantly the best, with at most a minor mention and handwave about how hard things are going to be.
As for the editing, I think from what it seems, AG did indeed have pro-Chaos bias in the translations, but their attempts to make Chaos look like the justified underdogs instead made them look incompetent as Omega said.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.And the interviews and the like make it clear that they were still slightly better than Law even in SMTI, as it was Gotou's demons that were protecting Japan from the nukes until he dies.
So basically the bias is still there.
Lucifer even admits he's wrong in the visionary item for II.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Maybe we should take this to the other thread...?
"surprisingly" empty eh
well since neutral is pretty much characterized by killing everyone and everything i cant call it surprising.
No because this talk should just end.
It's been brought up before, or else we will continue the cycle and prove the White are right.
The lesson to be taken from this is that even mentioning Ultimax only brings forth ruin.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. You keep saying things like that and it's starting to get me worried.
;_; zalgo text and color tags dont work together.

I really need to get get further in SMTIV because everytime this topic comes up, I get so confused.
Yeah, I am disappointed how Arena pretty clearly set up the "Arena duology" as being Labrys's story, and how while they promise each other otherwise, the Investigation Team and the Shadow Operatives have a mutual understanding that they'll cross paths again before this is over (not to mention the implication that the setting was going to shift to Port Island).
...And Ultimax throws all of that out! Hooray! Labrys gets to headline the P3 route, but aside from it being noncanon, it also apparently doesn't further her character arc at all aside from abruptly concluding the subplot about her "mother" at the end. Boo.
Also, the apparently canon route instead shifts focus to Yu Narukami and the P4 cast; the primary villain is set up as a counterpoint to Narukami in particular (because Narukami needed a second Evil Counterpart), and they get the flashier and "cooler" finisher to the final boss, not to mention more focus during the True End.
I heard a rumor that Ultimax has different writers than Arena does (likely because the primary Persona writing staff was involved in like 3 other games at the time), so maybe that is why there is such a disconnect between the two games and why Ultimax came off worse storywise?
