@karkat: Ozymandias meets Evil Lelouch?

I am not familiar with Code Geass, I'm afraid, but I was inspired of Ozymandias - not just for this game, but for a hypothetical sequel to Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney as well!

I expect, like P3 and 4, we'll get both a human villain and an eldritch... thingy.

Karkat: That villainous motivation you mention makes me think there would likely be a Lucifer Expy on the Protagonists side, simply because there would need to be someone who wishes for humans to have the freedom to choose their own purpose.

Even if such isn't the case for canon, could still be an interesting fanfic premise.

Bringing up Lucifer reminded me, you think they should have a non-human/animal party member in the game? And if so, what would it be? Funny idea would be that the non-human would be an alien (at least the character thinks they are an alien). I have no idea for animal member. A large bird? Or would the comparisons to Jojos Bizarre Adventure be too obvious (3rd part has a hawk Stand user named Petshop).

Now this sounds a little like Psycho Pass, with the emphasis on expressing one's baser desires.

Since the chain's been broken on the far right chair of the promotional image, is it likely that P5-kun isn't the protag? But this is the first trailer, after all.

I'm also all for an in-game gay romance option, if the theme's to be breaking free of societal restrictions.

I seriously doubt he's NOT the protagonist.

He reminds me of the Devil Survivor 2 Protagonist in glasses. Maybe when Break Record was delayed the Devil Survivor 2 Protagonist took the extra time for development to star in Persona 5.

The Black-haired boy in glasses is most likely the Protagonist, because if he wasn't, why would they show him now, in the first trailer with footage, instead of the real protagonist? To make us mistake him for the protagonist? That would help no one. Just look at him! 2nd-year highschool student, comes into town by train and isn't talking. That fits the criteria of Silent Protagonists we've been having.

Perhaps he's the main villain and Jester social link?

If I knew how to use them, I'd have made it clear that was in Joking Mode.

For some reason, I want there to be a social link with your enemy, who keeps summoning The Reaper into the dungeon.

Because Adachi was totally the first character revealed. Even Adachi wasn't the main villain. If Guy with Glasses was the main villain, why reveal him now before any other character?

If we look at the chairs as not "here is this group shot" but as, well, a set of chairs set up like chairs, wouldn't the one with the chain broken be the first chair, being the first in the row (especially if we go by the Japanese "read right to left" thing)?

That seems protagonisty to me.

Some one said in another place that they think that the five chains are for the first five player characters and the ones who are most important, which I would be fine with. And I also think that "reading" it right-to-left would be most logical.

unless this is a game, in which case everything is read left to right, up to down, like english.

in a single image with no text and no panels- i cant imagine reading order- page or text- is actually relevent.

(but if you must know, images are read left to right)

Hmmm. I wonder when the next update for the P5 website will be. People from Personagaf have speculated the shackles will break every 1st day of the month (October 1st will be the next). I speculate we'll get larger amounts of info 3-4 months before the release date (which we don't have yet) if it follows the marketing pattern of PQ and P 4 U 2.

For now we'll just get P 4 D marketing till the end of the year or so. It's no P5 but it'll tide us over. Let's just enjoy P4's retirement party.

Let us pray it is Persona 4's retirement party.

Ah, I'm sure there'll be remakes later down the line.

I'm also eagerly awaiting Persona 3D, because that's way too obvious not to be made, especially now that Nintendo's releasing an updated version of the hardware.

The only reason I honestly don't want to see another P3 remake is that chances are they wouldn't include the female protag and that would piss me off.
