Just post whatever comes to mind.
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.
If Oscar Wilde had lived in our time, he would be a /b/tard.
Actually, scratch that. He does, and goes by Jethro Q Walrustitty.

I'm not sure how in-depth I really get, but it takes me all night to drag a review out of myself. Mainly because I spend an hour or two letting it digest at the back of my mind (read: doodling around not writing), isolating what it is I want to comment on, and then buckling down and... taking a break after every sentence or so.
Fresh-eyed movie blogWould this be "in-depth" enough?
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Just watched Prometheus, now I want to watch Alien.
New theme music also a boxI took the MAA two years to write a review of a five minute 'plane crash, so I wouldn't sweat it if I were you.
'All he needs is for somebody to throw handgrenades at him for the rest of his life...'Everyone's excited for Next Giant Leap.
And I am just wishing, oh my I wish you are right god but it probably will never happen.
I need a good "main" thread for all the stuff I find...maybe Facebook. ;p
My father emailed me something curious, asking "Can you explain to me the value of a degree in Gender Studies?"
I'm not sure whether he's asking because he honestly doesn't know and he thinks I do, or he's being rhetorical and trying to further dissuade me from liberalism.
I don't think I'm that liberal. I still like to think of myself as a centrist, if just tipping over to the liberal side.
No.
A different shape every step I take A different mind every step of the lineI've realized recently that Q&A panels almost always make me cringe like hell.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Woah woah did someone say something about a next giant leap? I'm confused
Muk stop being me.
The problem is that I enjoy seeing the people in the panels talk and answer the few questions that are good. But some of the questioners... oy.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Is there a specific panel example you're talking about? Because I can't find an antecedent in the thread.
I recently went to a cozily small con and I much prefer the panels they had there. They put one to three experts on the topic up front, and they led a directed conversation with the attendees who came to the panel. Of course, they could do that because none of the panels I went to had more than a dozen people, but I like that inclusive approach better.
When you have a big panel with hundreds or thousands of seats, the attendees are an audience, and Q&A is at best awkwardly regimented and at worst really uncomfortable.
Fresh-eyed movie blogWell, I'm currently watching the Game Grumps Q&A from San Diego Comic-con, but that one was actually pretty decent. Nah, it's just Q&A panels in general.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."We don't have the money or the will to get back to the moon.
We have the money. We don't have the will to apply it.
Cede low-earth orbit to private companies and we'd have even more money to apply to establishing ourselves on the moon. The only things we do in LEO are experiments that need a space platform to run on, and as a jumping-off point for further travel.
Fresh-eyed movie blogOh, you meant the horribly mismanaged crap know as SLS and MPCV? NASA doesn't even have the money to launch these two once in a year, much less designing a mission for them. JWST also drained a shitton of money.
Does anyone know who the couple in the photo from the Other Wiki's article on humans are?

I'll tell you what's cringe-inducing: Xbox Live voice chat.
I don't have so much against kids playing M-rated games. I did myself. But I DO have a problem when they're annoying foul-mouthed little ingrates who call me an idiot even when I'm hosting the session.
We have more than enough money to fund NASA. The problem is that the money is tied up in useless shit.
(V)(;,,;)(V)Why do drug commercials have to dance around what they're selling ? Why can't they be straightforward ? I just saw an ad for some menopause pill, I don't know the details because of ludicrously it avoided them. Every drug ad is someone perpetually smiling , or having some vague specter of discomfort beforehand, and then going on a clichefest of life fulfillment . Why are marketers afraid of talking about what the drugs are for?
I watched How to Train Your Dragon 2 today, and decided to write in-depth review on it.
By God...it takes 3 hours to write a review on 1.5 hour long movie.
