What if she represents the good side of the Rokkenjima Witch Hunt? She dies when Featherine says so — because the Witch Hunt ends when Tohya and Ikuko choose not to reveal the contents of Eva's diary.
It seems to me that both Bern and Lambda both represent outsiders who try to solve the Rokkenjima mystery as a kind of hobby. I remember Lambdadelta during EP 8 complaining that she can't "stay up late" helping the meta-characters because she needs to get up early for school.
The difference is that Bern treats it as a game to the end, not caring about the fact that there were real people involved, and about what the consequences would be for the survivors and the memory of the deceased. Lambda, on the other end, gradually realizes that the meta-characters were real people, and that this fact is more important of her game of discovering the truth. So yeah, they could represent two kinds of people who get involved with the Witch Hunt.
Word of God confirmed that Bernkastel is something akin to the dark side of Rika Furude (mainly her despair, trauma from Endless June, and anger) given form.
Lambdadelta is implied to be the dark side of Satako Houjou (mainly her abandonment issues) purged from her consciousness. Somehow, it mellowed out post Gou into the Wild Card Blue-and-Orange Morality twisted Don Bluth narrative personality we see now.
Yeah, but That's inclduing Higurashi, I guess. I personally prefer to see Umineko self-contained.
Its confirmed the two are connected.
We know how Featherine’s memory device got damaged. Hanyuu is the cause…by slashing the horn of an entity that is likely one of Featherine’s aspects/fragments.
Hanyuu is connected to Eua (the fragment) via the same Ventus and Vanitas relationship Rika and Bernkastel have.
I think it depends on what view you have of the meta-world in Umineko. Personally, I like to see it as a purely metaphorical construct, and if I really had to explain any link to Higurashi or other works I'd say these works exist In-Universe for Umineko, so the real-world Umineko characters use them as inspiration for their fantasies.
It depends on which part of the story you're interested in, I think. Personally, I'm interested in the real-world drama and characters, and I only care about the fantasy characters because of what they imply about the real-world characters who invented them.
For people who are interested in the meta-world and fantasy characters themselves, I guess it would be more interesting to take their links to other worlds/stories at face value.
Pretty much. Stating that the Higurashi connections are factual is removing major keys to read Umineko.
All the metaverse stuff is a case where it's simultaneously real or fake as shit depending on how you look at it. Same as the catbox of the island but "one level upwards" if you will. So Lambda and Bern can both be characters from Higurashi but also metaphors for the in-universe mystery.
Edit: Wait Ryukishi07 has been working on a new Silent Hill game WHAT???

This. Especially if you want to connect all the lore together.
IIRC, wasn’t one of the reasons Ange was targeted because Bernkastel pursuing vengence against the Ushiromiya family for their indirect role (unwittingly financing it) in Endless June?
Is it me or are the Higurashi characters a little "overpowered"?
"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."In what sense? In the context of Umineko?
In the sense that these kids have skillset needed to deal with most outside threats. Maebara's charisma, Rena's super detective skills, Satoko's traps to name a few.
"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."They're a lot more effective than they should be, if that's what you mean. Mion's martial arts abilities should not be able to take out a reasonably trained operative like twice her size. But it's kinda, yknow, gotta have our happy ending time.
Even before that, there were hints of the characters "super" competence but you are right.
"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."Mion’s fighting style is very counter and punished focused. Exactly the sort of style that can wreck people bigger than you.
Not like “Mr. Jackel” is a proper warrior anyway. More like a rogue. Rogues tend to crumble against actual fighters if caught in a straight fight. Even a “well trained civilian” can stand against a rogue in a fair fight.
On another note, we have confirmation by R7 about Lambadelta’s true identity.
Witch Satako. Yep, another Ventus Vanitas connection. This time if Vanitas is a parasite that takes over.
BTW, skip the Gou anime past episode 17 and read the Meguri manga instead. Much more organic and beliveable.
Some spoiler.
I could be wrong but it seems like the characters are just overpowered for someone to take on. Rena herself is someone who is very hyper aware can and dissect you if you deceive her.
"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."Do we have any info on Ciconia Phase 2 ? Phase 1 came out more than 3 years ago already, and with a nasty cliffhanger too…

Currently rereading Umineko. It still holds up.
I'll never get tired of Kinzo's "BEEAATORICHEE!!"
Did anyone else felt bad for Eva? Yeah, she was a massive bitch but she lost her husband and son, her only living relative hates her, and is constantly mistrusted by society.
Higurashi When They Cry Hou+ got released on Steam a little bit ago.
Meanwhile, Ciconia is still crying in a corner. =[
This is late but from what I read on reddit here, the last statement ryukishi did on Cicconia it was a few months ago. He said that he still wanted to work on it but it's not easy because he doesn't want write a story about a war for entertainment considering what's going on in the world right now. He also said he might consider just making another When They Cry story instead so there is that.
I really wanted to buy Cicconia buut I don't think it's worth it until it's finished if that ever happens

Macron's notesThat is really sad to hear. I have love to see it continue.
"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."It’s his call to make, but the reasoning seems a bit strange to me… It’s not like war has ever disappeared, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t make stories about it…
The strength to pursue the truth even if it might hurt? It's been so long since I read it but the standout scene for me with her is her helping the protagonists when they choose to keep trying in an impossible situation.
