Rename: Adventure Couple

I've noticed that some people get Adventure Couple confused with Battle Couple, so I think it should be up for a rename for clarification purposes. The discussion page lists "Adventure Duo" as a replacement and I think it's a reasonable rename.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

The problem I see with that is that a duo is simply "two people" — any team of two people qualifies as a "duo". The misuse is coming from people who don't make the distinction between "adventure" and "battle" — changing 'Couple' to 'Duo' won't fix that, and it will also open it up to even more misuse from folks adding duos who aren't couples.

An Adventure Couple doesn't have to be a couple though. It's The Hero and The Lancer going off on an adventure together. In fact, they're very rarely an actual couple outside of shippers minds.

Fourthed. The term couple typically applies to a romantic relationship, which this (usually) isn't. Duo is clearer.

Even Madrugada misused/misunderstood this trope under its current name!

I think this ends any further discussion we have on this topic. ;)

Yeah this needs a rename I was thinking it was like Seta and Haruka from Love Hina who were a couple (although in a love triangle at the time) who went all Adventurer Archaeologist together.

Crowner?

Or do we even need it?

When I proposed this trope in YTTW (under a different username, incidentally) my focus was on the 'allows the viewer to remember a clue' aspect. That has obvious uses in adventure games, but it also carries over to mysteries in any format.

Bumping, because this is:

1) So old that the banner's no longer on the main page, and

2) I think Madrugada's error earlier in this thread just demonstrates why this trope would be better off as Adventure Duo.

3) It seems like a fairly simple and non-controversial thing to do. (Non-controversial insofar as this thread goes.)

Editing to add...

4) The description even admits that it could be confused with Battle Couple. In fact, that's probably a big reason behind the error mentioned in (2).

I agree. This needs to be changed to Adventure Duo.

Yeah, Adventure Duo. Cable and Deadpool are not romantically involved, despite what Wade might think on one of his off days.

Okay, this thing has gone on long enough. I think we can make a quick change at this point and be done with it. :)

Agree. This one has gone on long enough and we have proof it's being misused. Even Mad got it wrong.

I'm doing that now. I can probably accomplish that on my own, so there's no longer a real need for the thread.
