The Controversial 12th/11th One Piece Opening.

Don't be like that! The Anime sux and is very fillerish and Spoiler Tastic. The Manga is Awesome once you get used to the sheer ridiculousness (read Dr Mac Ninja as a warmup).

I might like it if it wasn't for the art. It reminds me so much of Western Animation it makes me want to hurl. That and the plot points. I will sum up my views of the plot succinctly: superpower-granting magic pineapples. That is all. Once again, all my opinion. Before this starts a flame war, I shall kindly take my leave.

It's 2.5 minutes long OMG what is the world coming to?! Seriously, that's just bizarre. They're usually 1.5 minutes long, to within about 3 seconds. It's always been quite impressive to me how they managed to do that, not to mention convenient for estimating length when skipping them.

^I'm not sure if that post was sarcasm or not. If it wasn't, then I'll just add that 2.5 minutes is the normal length of time for a OP opening, since OP doesn't have Endings anymore. If it was, then the supposed problem with the opening is the supposed OOC-ness when Luffy waits for his hat to fall instead of reaching up and grabbing it, and that it has a few spoilers.

That was indeed long for an OP. And the second half has a severe mismatch between the music and the imagery. But I can't see how it would controversial in any real sense.

What is OOC ness?

Out of character-ness.

I hate One Piece openings anyway. This is just... even worse than the others. Well, the first Opening was still decent.

The German Opening however, now that is a cool one.

I still think this opening is the best.

I'd never seen that OP before. I liked it. It intrigued me. It makes me wish that Funimation could work faster on their dubbing, so I can catch up legally; my Archive Panic ain't getting any better.

Ill never understand Archive Panic. Sure books that were published as serials first do tend to reach fightening sizes (Im looking at YOU Count Of Monte Cristo)

... I'll assume that the opening you're talking about is a spoiler for someone who only just finished the Thriller Bark arc, yes? ._.

I had a friend who was totally into One Piece—the manga. But, he tried and just could not get into the anime. To him, the problem was that the art style, which is fine in a comic, just looks weird when animated.

When I tried to watch the anime I had the same reaction. Images that were just funny and cartoony on paper were weird and disturbing in animation.

The only controversial thing I can spot is Hannyabal and co making a near Hitler Salute. As for the switch from upbeat adventure song to soothing easy listening, I think it's a bit of a mistake, but always preferable over wangsty emo rock. Who watches the OP anyway after the first two viewings anyway?

People watching it on TV? Though that only applies if you live in Japan.

I tend to watch openings every time if I like them. (Well, unless I'm watching a bunch of episodes at once.)
