I didn't read that one. I had no internet, so a friend narrated it to me over the phone.
New User HandleDon't worry AHR, I missed that as well, and I don't have an excuse any where near as good as yours.
So you weren't actually the last to know.
So we won't be having any Bakuman on Onemanga last day. :(
While waiting for Bakuman to resurface...somewhere...and in honor of Otters' 11 getting a one-shot, how about some discussion of the fictional manga in the series? As I previously mentioned, I haven't read most of the middle chapters, so missed clues to what many of these are purportedly like.
Some starters: Crow, I know is a fighting manga.
Natural +has schoolkids as main characters, there are eggs involved somehow, and it follows The Smurfette Principle. (The role Miho was suggested for is mentioned as the only major female part, and didn't show up in the manga until Chapter 16.)
True Human or whatever the official title is, has conflict between 'true humans' and regular humans, and recently had a poorly received slavery fetish plot arc.
I'm going to guess that Aoki does something Rumiko Takahashi-esque as what little I've seen of the character seems to be "Takahashi if she were just starting out in the business now."
Anyone can expand on these or fill in some blanks?
Natural+ was said to be a highly marketable Pokemon-esque show.
Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!True Human should contain author tract against "regular humans" and an author avatar in the form of a "true human" and probably lots of Mary Sues. That hikikomori probably have a long rant about the things wrong in society etc etc.
And where is everyone reading Bakuman from now? I can google for one, but any recommendations?

Mangareader. There
6 chapter plot? I am content.
New User HandleLets see. Exactly how long are most arcs of One Piece, Negima, Naruto... (I am not even going to think about Bleach because of how pages in which nothing important happens)
I think readers can handle a longer arc.

Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!@Belian: But even Naruto started off with shorter contained story lines, Negima is not shonen jump, and not every series is One Piece.
There are more series in Shonen Jump than three, you know

New User HandleTrue, but they talked about how the basic premise has been established. A normal mangaka would probably be thinking about a longer arc at this point anyway. Maybe only 4 chapters in reality, not 6, but the idea is the same.
At least that is how I am seeing it.
EDIT: I know, but most manga I like/follow weekly or monthly end up with longer arcs.

Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!^ True but a normal mangaka wouldn't have to deal with the unreasonable expectation that it has to be at least as popular as two cash cows from Shonen Jump's new talent.
There are 22 series in Shonen Jump. Not counting the big three and Bakuman, that's Beezlebub, Gintama, Hokenshitsu no Shinigami, Hunter x Hunter, Inumarudashi, Kochikame, Kuroko's Basketball, Medaka Box, Metallica Metalluca, Nurarihyon no Mago, Oumagadoki Zoo, Psyren, Pyu to Fuku! Jaguar, Reborn!, Shōnen Shikkū, Sket Dance, SWOT and Toriko.
I am hesitant to assume that all have successful over arcing stories...
New User Handle^ Wasn't Reborn monthly?
I dunno, I just copy and pasted the list they had of current series running on weekly shonen jump from wikipedia.

New User HandleThe ones on that list I follow(ed) are Beezlebub (looked like it was headed to an overarching story, but had not gotten there when I stopped reading it), Medaka Box (did not start with an overarching story, one was Retcon-ed in, and it became more coherent overall even if I initially thought that They Changed It, Now It Sucks!), Hunter X Hunter (...yeah), Nurarihyon No Mago (another one that started episodic, but did not stay that way long), and Psyren (The premise is an overarching storyline).
So Yeah. I like things with well constructed, long stories.

Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!Crap, I forgot to get the name of the other group that was translating this, does any happen to know what it was? (I really dislike Mangastream...)
Edit: Found it, it was SleepyFans, they also have the Otter 11 manga...

Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise. Most manga end up doing longer arcs after a while. I think the issue is how early they're doing it.
^^Yeah, the mangastream translations are generally bad.
The Otters 11 oneshot is funny, especially the more meta parts of it, like where Otter 11 gets compared to Kira and where Hiramaru basically asks his audience to write to Jump and tell his editors to give him a break. also, "In other words, Otters 11 is more popular than Jump"
Popping into this thread to ask: I'm interested in this manga because I loved Death Note so I want to read something else by the both of them together, but the anime is coming out soon. Is it worth it to start reading up until the most recent 90th or whatever chapter or just wait to watch it animated?
Nobody really knows if the anime is any good or not yet for obvious reasons, but I don't think this is the type of series that'll benefit much from animation.
^^Can't tell yet. I would say wait for the anime, watch one or two episodes, read the equivalent chapters, and then decide. Though you won't be disappointed if you decide to just start reading the manga.
EDIT: Hello ninja. How are you today?

Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!
^ Because you don't read what is clearly written at the end of the chapter?
Wow. I sounded like an ass.
