Fukuda...

At first he seem to eager to help Nakai patched up back with Aoki, now he seem hellbent on helping Aoki. It didn't seem like he was lovestruck by her either. So, its just because they were Nakama? I guess that somewhat make sense, considering the comic that he produce is the closer to Jump fare of shonen.

On second thought, I never really considered what genre was Vampire Knight in. I thought he does the seinen variety cause its mentioned to be violent and everything, until I heard his assistant said he like Vampire Knight because of childish humour, and now its reveal there lots of panty shots in his manga...

While not a Wham Episode, does anyone notice Bakuman tend to turn the wham factor up a little in the recent chapters?

I think Nakai is a hero, an inspiration and a paragon among men.

CLIFFHANGER! What has happened?!

And I'm with Fukuda. Low-angle panty shots is way too blunt.

I'm gonna guess Ashirogi gag manga for some reason won't get serialize but Aoki Ko will get serialize.

And Fukuda did do it just because they were Nakama.

Chapter 69 is out!

Looks like Time of Green Leaves got in but Tanto didn't. Also Business Boy Kenichi has been canned, with 3 series down the drain Miura is career looks grim. Nakai's also out of a job and tries desperately to get with that assistant chick. Who promptly rejects him. He then tries to crawl back to Aoki, you promptly tells him to GTFO. Distraught, Nakai quits his job and plans to go back home. Everyone says that he deserved it for being a jerk and says good riddance. Except Mashiro, who tries to get him to stay. Nakai doesn't listen and leaves. Presumably going headlong into a Redemption Arc.

Eh, that was... exactly as I planned predicted!

Well, Muira is definitely painted as incompetent. He too biased, and keep wanted to do gag. Gag is fine, but its obviously Shujin is best with darker storyline.

I kept yelling at Nakai for several chapters:

Repeat after me, "I am sorry. I was an asshole."

It would have been that simple. He could salvage most of his career and whatever possible scrap of a tiny inkling of a maybe he ever had to start with.

Now I just feel really bad for him. No one should cut off their dreams from themselves like that.

Also , am I the only one whose been bugged by how cliffhangy it's gotten lately? I keep wanting to put on my best Hulk Hogan impression and go "ON THE NEXT EPISODE OF BAKUMAN Z..."

Oh well. Same time, next week.

Hasn't it always been like that?

Nakai isn't quitting manga just because he failed in his love life. He quitting mainly manga because he already in his thirties, but unable to make it in the manga business.

Just wanted to let you guys know that this is one of the three Shonen Jump series that I actually like.

That, and I'm rather glad that Nakai got out. He was already an annoying complainer, and after his jerkass moment, I really hated him.

Sure, he can come back, but I sure hope that he get's a bit more likeable.

So, what do you guys think on Tanto not getting in? Should our heroes try to make Tanto better, or say 'screw you' to the editor and try something else?

I vote for 'something else'. Tanto might have had funny moments, but lacks the real originality and plot to become great.

I'm voting for the latter. Tanto was the result of the boys bending over backwards for their editor instead of putting their hearts and souls into their work like with Trap. Hopefully Miura will finally understand that pushing his tastes on his writers does not make him a good editor.

I'm glad they could follow up such a sad with a set up for something so awesome. Ashirogi now has the perfect Rival to get this into true Shonen mode!

Although the awesomeness is very much Take Our Word for It. Do they plan to actually flesh out any of those hypothetic comics, some day?

They did do a poll a while back saying what was the reader's favorite Manga in a Manga. Trap won out, so they may Defictionalize that after they're done with Bakuman.

Defictionalization is tricky, at least for something that's supposed to be any good. Look at the flack Studio Sixty On The Sunset Strip got for having the Show Within the Show praised to high heaven, but what we actually got to see of it being pretty mediocre.

Honestly, I think the synopsis of Aiko's one-shot does sound pretty promising. I have to wonder if the author has thought of a way to follow it up though.

The ideas that come up in Bakuman always feels like the 'Ideas that sounded cool on paper, but just don't really work'. If they are going to difictionilize, it will probably end in dissapointment.

But I still hate the fact that Ashirogi doesn't even consider to scrap Tanto.

Eh, I think it could be pulled off well, and I can think of at least one way to follow it up. Just because it could be good in practice though, doesn't mean it would be. A lot of mangas have good sounding premises but turn out disappointing.

Indeed and many Manga that start off good end up sucking 200+ chapters down the line. I.e. Naruto, Bleach, Reborn, Fairy Tail, etc. Trap could have pulled off about 50 chapters or so, and Tanto sounds like it'll get old really fast.

By the way, had chapter 70 already been scanlated?

That's indeed a funny thing, you know. Some plotpremises sound awesome, but there is just this much that can happen within that premise. Other premises sound retarded or boring, but can run forever.

I always thought of a premise as if it were a barrel. And no matter how big the barrel looks, you can never draw more water from it then it contains.
