[up][up] Would there be a ghost if they died on the quest bed in one of the moons?

...If this whole thing is indeed the case, then I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's honestly rather depressing, yet also seems fairly inconsequential. Not the best combination, in my opinion. It didn't have to be this way.

Welp, I just saw Ant Man. It was decent, good falling action to conclude Phase 2. The costumes were awesome, probably enough to make me consider wanting to buy the Pop Caps.

But Michael Douglas with CGI to get rid of his wrinkles... he just looked off. And the film wasted a really good chance to put Robert Redford's character with the old Shield Heads.

The Villain was alright. He's very middle of the road. Interesting ideas, great costume, but too Cartoonishly evil at times, it's like the film went out of its way for big red letters over "This Man is Evil" That goat scene shouldn't have been that funny.

The fights were excellent, Falcon's was my favorite, but the final one's use of size and creativity was a joy to watch. The humor was awesome.

His Heist buddies were fun too. I hope Luis get's another go around.

I liked the Baskin Robins little plot detour, it was funny, and him being dragged off to deal with the typical pencil pushing tool boss was a good place to take that scene.

I feel Hope was kind of the weakest part. She wasn't very interesting, her chemistry with Scott was lacking, and her Daddy issues were way too paint by numbers. It reminded me of Iron Man 2... Iron Man 2 sucked. Her little training sessions were awful, just some petty asshole with a chip on their shoulder abusing their power to kick the crap out of someone. Though maybe that's because expecting a punch in one place and getting hit unexpectantly just really hurts. That and it kind of reminded me of the scene in Iron Man 2 where he's drunk and screws around with the Iron Man suit (another Abuse of power). Iron Man 2 sucked. Stop reminding me of MCU's worst movie Hope!

I wonder if Hank Pym will die. He's the elderly past his prime hero and mentor character, and if they need to rank up the action either in the Civil War Movie, or when Thanos finally comes around, and they need to kill off someone to raise the stakes, Hank's your man.

I actually really like the revelation that your consciousness doesn't merge when you die on your quest bed. Looking back I've been pretty disappointed with Homestuck post Cascade, on the whole I think it lost something in the first 'half', an I started to forget why I liked it. This was a really cool revelation because no one really thought about it before and it casted previous events in a different light. in a sense it helps ease that shift since these are 'different' beta kids. It's also a lot like John Dies At The End.

Yeah, this revelation is a pretty cool one. It's kind of like a Dead All Along type thing. Which makes Doomed Rose merging with "our" Rose all the more interesting.

Somewhere out in the dreambubbles the original ships sail with the ghosts of the dead not gods. the grimdorks flag still flies in my heart.

It may be an interesting twist but it's still kinda depressing imo. Like, imagine that Dave who didn't want to die and got killed by Jack right in front of his original beta self. His original beta self who apparently felt better to discover he went god tier with Rose instead of dying. Except that he actually died in Derse too, and it's a copy who went tiger.

All this feels like Continue lives in video games. Hey, maybe it's actually the point. You die in Sburb and it kills your present self for real, and it spawns a copy with your experience, but who could never know he/she isnt the same exact version as the one who just died. And the dreambubbles are like a cemetery filled with your failures/sacrifices. God, now it casts a new light on video games in general. Maybe Mario is always cloned when he dies instead or ressurecting as his original self too.

Homestuck looks like that malfunctioning teleporter to Mars thought experiment now.

@Ant-Man: I think the problem with Hope is that, instead of making a The Wasp movie, they made a movie with a Watsonian explanation of why Hope isn't the Wasp, which in turn made her into a jerk. It doesn't help her father is also a jerk, and I would even say almost as bad as Cross if the movie didn't go to very extreme lenghts to make Cross look like a saturday morning cartoon mad scientist, while going very far to make Pym look good. Both felt too forced to me.

The problem of Hope is that apparently the original Edgar Wright script barely had any Hope or Janet. When it was handed to a new writer he wanted to include them and to do it more than he did would have required hefty rewrites and Marvel wanted to salvage as much of the Wright script as possible.

I want there should be a Wasp movie but at least I hope she's more included from the beginning of writing.

Darren Cross needed to reaffirm his hatred of puppies and sunshine more.

Someone here compared the whole death thing in Homestuck "In that dying and coming back to life isn't the "main" character, just another one while that character who died is still dead" and compared it to They Bleed Pixels. I'm curious as to the comparison as I'm not familiar with the game.

There's no indication that godtiering on a moon bed leaves a copy behind. Just the opposite really, given that Aradia's ascension sucked her soul out of the Aradiabot.

Thus, we can be sure that Jake is still the original Jake (of his timeline) and that Dave and Rose are the dreamselves that flew into the furthest ring.

That's definitely the case, because the sacrificial slabs were meant to be back-ups if your dreamself died before you could godtier.

To confuse you all a bit more, lovely people, here I unfold another strange theory of mine.

Call me absent-minded, whatever you want, but I finally realized Dirk was fucking serious about having more duplicates than anyone. I was like, "yeah everyone in this comic has duplicates" then that talk about Glitch!Dirk and my previous stuff about AR made me count them again.

Here are all the versions of Dirk I can think of. It doesn't matter if they died or not, they're all in the list.

Dirk, Bro, AR, Brobot, Squarewave, Sawtooth, Brain Ghost Dirk, Glitch!Dirk (pre-retcon one if you prefer), Arquiusprite, Dirk's dream self, post-retcon Squarewave & Sawtooth (they have to exist), post-retcon Arquiusprite, post-retcon dreamself (he certainly beheaded himself in the new timeline too), Doc Scratch/Rose's uncle/hypotetical evil robot Dirk.

Maybe Lord English counts in a way, since he's got a bit of one AR in him.

I know some you will wonder what the hell I mean about Scratch. But he told Rose to see him as a kind of uncle. Then in Mental Breakdown, Hussie showed that evil robot Dirk that represented Scrath somehow. It's huge speculation but knowing how things go I think Scratch wasn't joking and Hussie kind of confirmed some link between Scratch and Dirk. (also I read stuff on reddit that was confirming it, but well it's not word of god)

Also think of one thing: Dirk Strider. Doc Scratch. Knowing how Huss likes playing with letters... Now if I'm just imagining stuff, tell me.

Ok bottom line: Dirk got at least 13 duplicates, even not counting Scratch and English (and all alternate timelines). He was dead serious about his selves all along.

Now I wonder if in the end, Homestuck isn't just about 3 horse fanatics (Dirk/Equius/Hussie) and their many selves...

Robin. Funny how a reduction of knockback and endlag for a couple moves goes a long way.
