After watching Samurai Jack, I've just learned to role with the punches of ships I don't liketongue.

Sort of.

Hah! I should catch up with CANWC, actually.

My main interaction with Homestuck lately, aside from the occasional conversation about it, has been roleplay on MSPARP. Which is MXRP now, but still pretty Homestuck-focused in practice. Everything else aside, I really like so many of the characters a lot. Like, a lot a lot. So many Homestuck AU ideas...

Oh yeah, I've actually recently joined the ranks of people writing original fiction with a basis on fanfiction/roleplay type stuff; although I really need to actually write more of it. The basis being basically that I'm taking superpowers AU concepts I came up with with some Homestuck friends (not theirs, just mine, though; there may have been a large number of these chats) and then changing the characters up to not be Homestucks. And really, by the latest of the AU chats, I was halfway there with my concepts anyways.

Said friends are also why I'm doing anything with superpowers, honestly. I couldn't ever get a satisfactory story idea for a lot of my other interests, though, with or without basises in roleplay concepts.

Aw man, Samurai Jack sure was a thing. I was very skeptical and uneasy with the new season at first, and then it won me over, and then lost me again in like the last ten minutes. Oh well.

@Raichu: Sounds cool man. Go for it.

Samurai Jack's final season was a mixed bag for sure. But I feel like the highs more than compensated for the lows. Just like The Last Jedi to a lesser extent.

The new trolls look cute. The aviator reminds me of Horuss.

The Conspiracy Theorist one looks cute too. I just hate people like her and seeing the word Deep-State is triggering my flight or fight response.

Thanks!

Also, does it help to consider the fact that there is a hostile faction manipulating Alternian society and government throughout its entire history, operating from one of its moons?

Because there is.

Wait, hang on. You guys think Roxy and Calliope ended up together? Like, romantically? I didn't get that impression at all. I know they're seen holding hands in the final animation, but I've known lots of girls their age who hold hands even though they aren't dating. I always thought Roxy was one of the, like, three characters in the comic who are most likely straight.

Anyway, I made a thing. As the saying goes, you can fight me, but you'd lose.

Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?

It's ambiguous, really. If you want them to be together, they can be. If you don't, then they're not.

How would they get their sexytime on, though? That is an unworkable proposition if ever I heard one!

It's more the snaps after that that were in question. Roxy and Calliope (and Jane) were all flirting and having dinner together, it was a whole thing. Well, Jane didn't really make it there, but yeah. Heavy implications, though still not strictly confirmed IIRC? I stopped reading them at some point, though they may have finished by then anyways. (Oh, apparently they did.)

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, there were some additional Snapchat style images released on, well, Snapchats, after the Credits flash went up. There are some archives around, you can probably google one. (I'd link one but I forgot what the one I used was called.) Nevermind, here's one.

Opinions are... mixed. Cohen wrote them, rather than Hussie, and some news posts at the time referred to them as "post-canon content" which I think means 'maybe canon, if you want it to be', like the more plausible Paradox Space strips.

I still don't understand the argument that it means "still totally canon" but some people make it so, that's a thing.

Also, personally, I think Cherub reproduction is exclusively concupiscent, so if Calliope and someone were to have redrom sexytimes it would be one-sided. They could also just not have sexytimes. Then again, if you want to operate under the assumption that Calliope would transform into a serpentine form measuring several astronomical units long, the snaps did strangely establish that Roxy can breathe in space.

I'm not even kidding?

Addendum: So I guess I hadn't finished them; I had quit reading in the middle of what apparently was the last update. (Barring a holiday wishes and Hiveswap hype post.) And uh. Wow. Just, wow. That was profoundly stupid. Oh well I guess?

Eh, those weren't that bad. Stupid, yes, but welcome to Homestuck. (Besides, people have been able to breathe in space in Homestuck since approximately forever but certainly since at least the end of Act 1, unless the Medium somehow has air in it.)

Though I've been on the record with my appreciation for Cotton Candy Plus Callie for quite some time, so there you have it.

Joke answer.

Real answer.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure "post-canon content" is just a really extra way of saying "after the end of the story" and doesn't mean "dubiously canon".

I just go with the mindset of "If it's not accessible on the main website, I don't have to accept it as a canon part of the webcomic".

This song needs more love.

Look, maybe I would get that if there wasn't precedent for Hussie saying "Oh, this content written by other people but approved by me and released on an official channel? It comes in 'Definitely not canon' and 'Maybe canon' flavors." and for taking a similar approach to canonicity of outright fanwork. Even leaving a lot of things in the comic proper up to interpretation, like all the abstractions in character design. Basically my point is, anyone who likes them can take them as canon, but trying to argue that they are 100% canon for suresies and other people are wrong to ignore them is frankly just kinda being a shit. (If that is not what you are doing, then I'm not saying you're kinda being a shit.)

Also, as for the air thing, the Inciphisphere is explicitly described as supplying certain things. Everything they need logistically that wasn't deemed a fair impediment in their challenge, as Rose put it.

So yes, the Medium is somehow magically full of air, the same way it provides electricity to outlets, water to pipes, and internet connectivity. Except, you know, it being full of air makes a ton more sense in comparison. It could just, you know. Be full of air? The Lands aren't exactly normal planets, there's no real reason to expect atmospheres to be tied to them.

So I'm not calling bullshit on breathing in space (I mean okay honestly I am but whatever) but it is new information. Not Calliope though, Cherubs fly around in space in normal circumstances, so I guess this would just mean they can survive in it before maturation, which, sure.

@252356: There is evidence that the Medium is indeed filled with a (presumably breathable) atmosphere. Specifically, when the Reckoning meteors are launched towards Skaia, they have a fiery red aura representing heat produced by the ram pressure of a hypersonic projectile interacting with an atmosphere. That could be just artistic license, but once they get portal'd into outer space surrounding Earth, they lose the aura and don't regain it until they hit the atmosphere again (seen in various flashes).

That does raise the question of how the hell orbits work when the various celestial bodies are orbiting through an atmosphere, since that ought to cause all sorts of issues, but a lot of the physics/celestial mechanics of the Medium are a bit dubious in the first place (e.g., there's no way planetoids that small would have gravity anything approaching Earth-normal, or that the crazy house-skyscrapers could ever stand up under their own weight). Game physics, I guess.

[up][awesome]

I never thought of that, but that's a really great point.

As for the orbits, I think they're probably modeled by something other than gravity, anyways? I mean, the Lands come into existence one at a time as players enter, popping into the existing orbital without disrupting it, and building those houses doesn' tchange that either. Way to point something cool out without falling back on game physics, though!

It's worth noting, on that front, that the lands appear to be tidal locked- the houses point directly towards Skaia at all times.

Although, actually, do they orbit at all, or do they sit in a fixed position relative to Skaia at all times? I feel like there's a flash somewhere that shows them moving, but I'm suddenly not sure.

So, recently I got a second monitor (that's actually a TV). At the time, my computer background was a picture of The Felt, and in fact I still have it in my original monitor. However, it didn't look good stretched to fit the higher resolution of my new monitor. Temporarily I set its background to the scene of Aradia whip choking LE. I've not been in a hurry to change it, but I can see the JPEG artifacts in the pic.

Also, I'm not sure if the TV's color configuration is as good as it could be. I mean, at first one couldn't even tell Aradia was an alien, because she was pastel-colored. I fiddled with the settings until I felt like it looked good, I dunno if it actually is.

I would like if you had any wallpaper suggestions. I think I usually prefer references to media I enjoy. Since I'm doing my The Lucifer and Biscuits Hammer reread, I'm considering a themed wallpaper, if I could find a good quality/high resolution picture.
