VG Music Game

Go To

The rules are pretty simple— I'm thinking of a song. It's from a video game. Guess what song it is. You can ask yes/no questions for hints.note  Whoever guesses the song first will take control of the game and choose their own song. To this point, we've accumulated over 800 songs among 12 years and 39000 posts— thanks to everyone who's played so far!

Tips for future reference, if it's your turn:
- Make sure to keep track of hints you've given! Also, if an answer is kinda fuzzy, you can elaborate a little bit.
- Try not to repeat a game. Same game/series is acceptable, but there's a lot of music still untouched. Same game and song is right out. Be sure to check this list thoroughly!

Shall we begin?

Solved Rounds:

     1 - 100
     101 - 200
     201 - 300
     301 - 400
     401 - 500

No and no.

The preview of this game featured two songs in the public domain; only one of those songs would be featured in the game. Name that song and the game in which it featured.

Does the anime contain Humongous Mecha?

Is it based off a game that was in the show?

The Day of Sagittarius III?

I hit something last night about it, but discarded it as not right. Then got the anime clue and thought about it today, so...

Bingo!

The Day of Sagittarius III, defictionalized and out for the iPhone. The background music, as mentioned before, is Dmitri Shostakovich's Invasion Theme from the Leningrad Symphony. (The original episode from the anime features that song, other snippets from the same symphony, and a Tschaikovsky piece tropers have identified as the fourth movement, fourth symphony.) Normally I'd be against using an iPhone app, but in this case...

Nintendo Hard round is finished. Excellent work, Runic. The show is yours.

Wooo. I get to close all my tabs of random research. XD

Well, I have a game in mind, but I still need to pick a defined song from it....

Alright, Song picked, methinks. Do I give a starting clue?

Yep. I prefer to give the clue about the song itself rather than the game, since a) otherwise there'd be less work for the guessers, and b) it makes it less of a random guess-fest after the game is identified, but it's really up to you.

I certainly enjoyed watching this round unfold. Good show! And yeah, I recommend the hint being about the music. More interesting that way.

Alrighty then. This track is one of the original included in the game it comes from.

That should give you a few hints about the game itself as well. ^-^

Subtle hints, but still.

  • The majority of the game's soundtrack was not taken from another source.
  • It is a computer game.
    • It's not exclusive to computer
    • Has not had a version on a home console
      • Was ported to a handheld
  • Not a 4x

Is it PC-exclusive? (For the purposes of the question, Macs and Linux boxes are counted as PCs.)

I'm... Not sure how to answer. The series isn't. And it's been ported...

Just the game in question, not the series. (If the game's been ported, then it's not exclusive to the PC.)
