Because it largely doesn't matter. It's more sensible, politically speaking, to stay in the US's good graces.
Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleI'm not sure, the ICC has been facing a serious risk of abandonment recently, many countries in the developing world don't like being the focus of all the ICC's investigations.
Sure nobody will go to jail, but the ICC could gain a lot in the way of reputation by going after the US, that reputation boost could then be used to get other war criminals handed over to it.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.NATO apologizes to Turkey for targeting Erdogan and Ataturk in training exercise
A "chart of enemies" depicted Ataturk and named Erdogan, the president told members of his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Ankara. Erdogan said he decided to withdraw all 40 of his troops involved in the exercise in protest.
NATO's website describes the Trident Javelin exercise in Stavanger, southern Norway, as a "computer assisted exercise without troops on the ground," meant to improve command structures for large operations. It was organized by the multi-national Joint Warfare Centre led by Major General Andrzej Reudowicz of Poland.
I suppose it gives an idea what the opinion seems to be inside some NATO circles.
Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleI approve.

State Dept. revolt: Tillerson accused of violating U.S. law on child soldiers
A confidential State Department “dissent” memo not previously reported said Tillerson breached the Child Soldiers Prevention Act when he decided in June to exclude Iraq, Myanmar, and Afghanistan from a U.S. list of offenders in the use of child soldiers. This was despite the department publicly acknowledging that children were being conscripted in those countries.
Keeping the countries off the annual list makes it easier to provide them with U.S. military assistance. Iraq and Afghanistan are close allies in the fight against Islamist militants, while Myanmar is an emerging ally to offset China’s influence in Southeast Asia.
Documents reviewed by Reuters also show Tillerson’s decision was at odds with a unanimous recommendation by the heads of the State Department’s regional bureaus overseeing embassies in the Middle East and Asia, the U.S. envoy on Afghanistan and Pakistan, the department’s human rights office and its own in-house lawyers.
“Beyond contravening U.S. law, this decision risks marring the credibility of a broad range of State Department reports and analyses and has weakened one of the U.S. government's primary diplomatic tools to deter governmental armed forces and government-supported armed groups from recruiting and using children in combat and support roles around the world,” said the July 28 memo.
Sounds like somebody is doing dirty deals with the aforementioned governments. Interesting.
Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleDirty deeds don't deal cheap, though.
But it's not like the US's credibility can sink any further... right?

Both the US and China are courting the Myanmar government and military.
Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleIsn't China already the main supplier of the Myanmar military?
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiot
They've been overreliant on Chinese equipment for a long time and have recently begun to move away from them. Both Koreas, Israel, Pakistan, Ukraine etc.

Si Vis Pacem, Para PerkeleRegarding the Turkish leader names and the NATO exercise, I'm just curious what the other names used were, if any.
While many aid programs in the US being targeted by the current Republican Party on dismantling, will the United Services Organization be next?
Doubtful; too many celebrities (on both sides of the aisle) work with the USO on a regular basis. Last thing the GOP wants to do is explain to their celebrity donors why they just got denied a photo-op.
Everybody pray for the USS Reagan.
That’s the epitome of privilege right there, not considering armed nazis a threat to your life. - SilaswAlso, going off Wiki, about $20K of the USO's income is from grants (not specified if government grants or not). Everything else seems to come from various donations or income on investments. I'm not sure if the government could shut the USO down in any meaningful way beyond prohibiting them from going overseas to support the troops out of spite.
The USO was a small social hub at Fort Bliss, most of what they had was donations. Even the wifi was free because Time Warner gave them a huge discount.
All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be on The First 48Slightly controversial for some Irish over this joint EU security plan.
Ireland needs to get off it's ass. "Neutrality" just meant "The Britis were meanies so we don't want to do what they do."
@HallowHawk, something has been bothering me....
Is that your foot as your avatar or is that someone else's foot? If it's another person's foot....why?
I must know!

Mine. I asked twice in the US Politics Thread if the skin color on my foot there would make me a target for the craziest of racists. Here's my hand with the same skin color.
Anyways, went off-topic. I apologize for this everyone.
Back on-topic, I have this to ask about artillery these days: are there still chances of shells fired from modern-day pieces that don't go off and that they'll release harmful substances, like it was in World War I?
Well I dunno know. That'll have to be sold to the rest of the Irish populace since they pride themselves of being like Switzerland.
Nonsense and other comments. The Swiss are truly neutral. The Irish are mostly neutral — except towards the British, whom they regard with an attitude ranging from mild antipathy to implacable hatred.
So they can't really call themselves neutral at all. It's like being a little bit pregnant; either you are, or you aren't.
This Space Intentionally Left Blank. The Irish have entirely understandable reasons for not wanting to play nice with the English. Although with the UK leaving the EU, maybe that means the UK gets to be neutral while the Republic of Ireland partakes in European responsibilities.
EDIT: Also, as an American, I'm the last person to call another country out for being "mostly neutral".

A lot depends on what happens to the Irish border.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.
If it was pointless flailing, why would the US need a law to require military extraction of any US citizen held for trial?
"Yup. That tasted purple."
