Wait there is no option to come clean if Doug survived?

Not that I saw. It makes sense, because Carly gives Lee the idea in the first place, and since Doug doesn't know...

That's actually quite nice. Helps put things in a different context.

That petition is stupid for one simple reason:

Who can honestly say that they'd continue playing the game with Carley dead if there was an option for the other outcome? I guarantee that pretty much every single player would rewind the game until they got it "right."

Furthermore, it's The Walking Dead. People die. Glenn dies, Hershel dies, Lori dies, Dale dies, Shane dies, characters die, and this includes your favorite.

Except Clementine.

Because I'm pretty sure Telltale's studio would be burnt to the ground.

Lee will die, and then we will spend the second "season" of the story playing as our new, plucky protagonist...

Ben! grin

Dude. Fucking spoilers.

I already know because I read the spoilered text without knowing, but not everyone does. Have some common courtesy.

[up][up][up]Crap, I wonder if that'll happen in the tv show, now? sad

On the other hand, that character is getting pretty useless and annoying in the show evil grin

Also, does anyone think Lee will finally find love?

Well, Carly's dead, Lily's gone, and Krista has a boyfriend. So unless he meets her within two episodes, he's stuck with non-romantic love by being Clementine's dad, or Honorary Uncle if they find her parents.

But eh. I'm not too hung up on Lee getting a love interest. I swear, most of the outrage over episode 3 has got to be because people were sore about losing the "potential love interests." What, is the fanbase filled with shippers or something?

I've gotta agree with Pannic. Looking around there's not much of a stink being raised at pretty much anyone else dying. It's not even a case of "MY CHOICES MAKE NO DIFFERENCE!!!1!1!" since even Doug's death barely gets noted.

I think thats a bit unfair. Just because not as many people are mentioning Doug doesn't invalidate our grievances of our choices not mattering.

And does it matter if the fanbase is filled with shippers or not? It doesn't make them as less of a gamer or a paying customer.

So, we all know Clementine is probably going to get into some trouble before all this over, unless they completely subvert expectations and have Clementine and Lee live (relatively) happily ever after. But does anyone have any theories as to how Telltale will pull it off effectively if they don't?

Just plain killing her off will get them razed to the ground. And making it a choice between her and... anything else really will end in pretty much everyone choosing her. So what could they do?

I don't think anyone would choose Lee in that situation.

But it seems like it's the best they could do, really.

I just thought of the most depressing ending, which make it at least 50% likely. Lee dies no matter what in the penultimate chapter for episode 5, and you play as Clem in the final chapter. It ends with a bleak, depressive mood with Clem just walking off. The player feels in their gut that she'll live for a while, Clem's a survivor and she's been through a lot. But in the end she'll die. Just like everyone else.

The last two chapters could be years later after all that'll happen (which will probably be unbearably bleak), so we get a teen Clem and some slight happiness. At least Lee was there for all of Clem's childhood.

These scenes would contextually change based on who your Lee was and what his relationship with Clem is, of course. But they'd still be emotionally strong and have distinctly different moods.

Also, teen Clem could be the protag for the Walking Dead game 'season two.'

Eh...

That could work, but I always hate seeing child characters "grown up." Don't know why.

Fun fact: Clementine's voice actress is 37. This is also how old Lee is in the game.

Personally, my Dream Episode Four would end with Lee getting bitten by a Walker. The fifth episode could then focus on Lee's struggle to come to terms with his inevitable death and trying to get Clementine somewhere that she can be safe before the infection kills him. The infection could increase tensions with whatever characters are left by that point and could allow the player to explore his dark past and the tragedies that have befallen him throughout the series through infection-induced hallucinations. The season could end with Lee getting Clem to safety before the bite wound can finally kill him and his story can end on a nice, bittersweet note.

What I absolutely don't want is for Season 2 to feature them both. As much as I've loved this series, it's a bit too kill happy for me to want to see more out of Lee or Clementine after the fifth episode. Aside from Kenny, the entire supporting cast of the first episode is either dead or has gone off to die in the comics. And, from this point on, it's probably only going to get worse. If Season 2 involves Lee and Clementine hanging around with a bunch of new people after Kenny, Ben, and everybody else has died, I'm really not going to be able to care about anybody new that we meet. I would know that the season would probably just end the same way, with everybody, but Lee and Clem, dead.

A good series needs a strong supporting cast. This game had one and has pretty much cleaned through it. Imagine if Shane, Glenn, Andrea, Lori, Daryl, and everybody else had been killed off in the first five or six episodes of Walking Dead. Would anybody really have bothered to keep watching season 2 if the cast had been whittled down to just Rick and Carl within such a small time frame? The show works because, although there's still a substantial amount of death going on, the deaths are a rare enough event that we can expect most of the characters that we've grown to care about to still be alive by the end of the season.

I'm only really going to be okay with the massive body count if it's all building up to an ending. If they try to continue the story for another season with everybody but Clem and Lee dead, it'll be impossible to care about any characters outside of those two. Telltale may as well just start over with a new cast and let a new story get told.
